groundon or kyogre

Well, they are both extremely powerful Pokémon, among the strongest in the game. It depends on your preference. Personally, I prefer Kyogre. However, people tend to frown on the usage of these strong legendary Pokémon if you battle competitively.

As mentioned earlier, it does depend on your preference. If you're talking about Groudon vs Kyogre, Kyogre would elementally win (since water > ground)

Kyogre is quite alot better. It learns better moves. I've got a Kyogre on my LeafGreen version and it beats the whole pokemon league by itself

Groudon = Best pokemon in the game

The best pokemon in the game. So I don't have to explain it every time, I will tell you why Groudon is better than Kyogre:

-Kyogre's trait only helps itself and other Water/Electric pokemon on the the team. You already have Kyogre as a water pokemon, why would you want to overload your team with more of them? You are asking for your whole team to be easily countered by Blissey. Just for the reference, a Blissey with Special Defense can take on Kyogre. Defense EVs are too risky to sacrifice in the uber metagame... Also, Shedinja ****s up Kyogre something awful. Hope you have Spikes, and Skarmory/Cloyster won't last in the uber metagame.

In comparison, Groudon's trait helps itself and any Grass or Fire pokemon you have. If you are afraid of Sunnybeamers, use Rayquaza. Ground, Grass and Fire surely is a more diverse team than EXCESSIVE Water and Electric. Just a side note, Metagross with a Sunny Day up SCREWS stuff in the ***. The common counter for Metagross is either a Water pokemon or Skarmory... Sunny Day lets you release a STAB HP Fire to Skarmory, and Water pokemon can't hit you nearly as hard with Sunny Day up.

-Kyogre only has Calm Mind, Groudon has Swords Dance. Kyogre only hurts when the Rain is out... Rain or Shine, a Swords Danced Groudon Earthquake WILL **** you up.

Freakshow

Groudon please.
Swords Dance + EQ + Rock Slide = almost unstoppable. Kyogre can be still stopped by Shedinja

-Also notes on the support Groudon gives is better than Kyogre. You get the fancy exeggutor to go along with it, firing off STAB Solarbeams from a base 125 sp.atk while putting Rayquaza switch ins to sleep w/ Sleep Powder. Water types do not have this luxury, (xcept maybe Milotic) and having a physical sweeper in your team can help you whereas Kyogre is stuck with special sweeping. Rain Dance teams usually get walled by the combination of Blissey and Celebi, whereas in the sunnny day teams you have a harder time switching in. Celebi can take down a lot of the waters in Rain Dance teams, while blissey does the same. Celebi stomps down Substitute Kyogre by using CM, and then like passing it to Latios/Zapdos/Whatever which will stop that team, and Bliss stops subless Kyogre.

-Sunny day teams get the advantage of not being walled easily (watch out for Rayquaza/Kyogre switchins on Solarbeam), and Groudon will swipe your "counter" before you could mess with him.

OK, that's the support part. If you don't need it, don't mind about it.

Now for the Groudon.
Due to the lack of physical defending in ubers, Groudon just sets up when he has time and sweeps away teams with Swords Danced Earthquakes/Rock Slides. Exeggutor stops him, but still, its not like eggy is going to easily switch into Groudon

Don't get me wrong. Kyogre is still a beast and even more in 2v2, plus it looks cooler

please don't flame everyone's favorite orca :mad:

i can't really make a decision. personally, i'd choose rayquaza. kyogre is bad when it comes to physical attacks, and groudon is bad when it comes to special attacks. rayquaza excels in both. when my friend and I were battling, he wiped out my kyogre, but my rayquaza easily won when i was going to lose.

i like kyogre because of it's looks. nothing more. well, maybe a little stat-wise i like it :p, but it was love at first sight when i saw it on the sapphire version box.

Care to Battle?
Depends what moveset you give it.

If you give Groudon a Electric attack, then Kyogre won't be much of a threat.

Ex:

Groudon Lv70
----------------
Flamethrower
Solarbeam
Thunder, Thunderbolt
Earthquake

and if Kyogre's effect goes on, then Thunder away.

corsolakid

ima gonna smile now!
groudon is great for battling, no doubt about it. but personally, i prefer Kyogre, then again, i AM a water lover! ;382;

Volteon

Back I guess??
I like kyogre more.
groundon has 2 special weakness and one big defense.
kyogre has 2 special weakness and one big special dsefense (plus calm mind)
kyogre´s KO attack (I know no one uses it, but it´s an advantage!) can KO all pokés, groundon´s one no.
kyogre´s moveset is simple and effective. in case of shedinja, just switch.
*EDIT*
Groudon Lv70
----------------
Flamethrower
Solarbeam
Thunder, Thunderbolt
Earthquake

and if Kyogre's effect goes on, then Thunder away.
one thunder from groundon in kyogre will just take out 37% of kyogre´s HP... you just forgot that groundon has low S.attack and kyogre has high S.defense...

Groudon is stronger for reasons already said. Forget Kyogre, Groudon is stronger than everything ._.

Kyogre looks cooler, though, I'll give it that.

I like Kyogre better, but that is just my opinion ;) I like Kyogre's attack and Stats better than Groudon's.

N00b in the dungeon!
Kyogre, definatly. Massive special stats + a few Calm Minds, and the things practically indestructable.
Plus, I despise that hideous excuse for a wannabe mecha-godzilla n00b-fest. It's overrated, and I hate it's let's-try-to-look-overly-intimidating-and-cool-but-end-up-looking-like-sh*t design. Kyogre's design on the other hand, is great.

Groudon > Kyogre for reasons already stated. ;/

I absolutely ADORE Groudon. He's my second favorite Ground-type, right after Flygon. I don't care what the hell anyone says, his appearance is bloody awesome. Kyogre's is downright fugly in my opinion. ._.

;381;ZR;380;

Kyogre is much easier to catch though.
Groudon is harder, because using water pokemon may kill it, while grass is almost useless

Kyogre gets pwned by Shedinja{That's how I caught Kyogre}
Groudon pwns Shedinja

Kyogre has rain dance that let's some fire pokemon that know electrics attack with Thunder and pwn!
Groundon has Sunny Day and I don't think water pokemon have solarbeam...

Kyogre kisses my feet
I kiss Groudon's feet{lol}

GROUDON IS BETTER!!!

Yeah OK I'd rather use Thunder instead of a STABed, Swords Danced EQ.

humm, there´s something wrong here... what fire pokémon has electric attacks? (excluding blaziken´s and typhlosion´s T-punch)
and I think that you forgot about ludicolo and it´s solarbeam...
