Gyarados Breeding Problem

Hi,
This is a pretty n00bish question.
But I am trying to get a pretty basic DDGyarados on my Emerald.
So I am breeding a Male Alteria with DD with a female Gyarados.
But when the egg hatches the Magikarp doesnt have DD.
What am I doing wrong?
Please HELP!

Magikarp doesn't have any egg moves. Direct all questions like this to the Breeding sticky.

You cant inherit any move to magicarp, gyarados learns dragon dance at lv.50 .

magikarp can't learn any tms/hms/egg moves that's why it's such a worthless pokemon
