Should Gyarados learn Aeroblast and/ or Sky Attack for his flying type move

Actually it should be simple like Fly or Aerial Ace.

Yea you are right but since its a dragon shouldnt it be more powerful???

Kyaku

. . .
Gyarados should learn a flying type move? No. Neither of those attacks are suitable for it. Heck, not even Peck would be good...If Gyarados can't fly, why would it be able to learn Sky Attack? Besides, he doesn't learn a single flying move anyways...

Neither. Aero Blast is Lugia's signature attack, and Sky Attack doesn't make sense for it. I don't think it should be a Flying type at all.

True for Aero Blast...but Sky Attack can make sense...Gyarados can fly up in the sky just like the anime. and just fly down to attack. Sky attack doesnt involve wings so maybe. And yea thats true it should be part dragon but its not gonna change. unless they decide to change it like they did the magnets

Sky attack is not a very good move because it takes two turns for Gyarados to attack and I don't know about Aeroblast.

But I agree with you that Gyarados should have a flying move, maybe like Aereal Ace.

Sky Attack wastes a turn... so does Fly. >_> There's no way it's getting Aeroblast (AS STATED).

ANYWAYS, Aerial Ace is a good choice imo... or maybe a new Flying Attack when D/P comes out?

....but ya know, there's always HP Flying.

Yea sky attack takes two turns but it still a powerful move.. look at fly and dig not to 4get sky bash. Those attacks are just plain weak. but maybe a new fly attck from d/p does sound nice

OK, 1) there's a reason the magnets changed types: it's because the Steel-type didn't even exist yet, and GSC was the only generation to add new types. Now, you could say that if it were Water/Dragon, it'd have been broken in RGBY due to not having a weakness (only Dragon-type move being Dragon Rage), but if they wanted to change it, they would've done so by now. Also, I don't know how many times I have to say this, but Koiking and Gyarados are actually based off a Chinese myth which involves a carp climbing to the top of a waterfall, and as a reward for its endurance, it transforms into a flying serpent. This is why it's water/flying. Now, Gyarados is constantly portrayed in the anime, as well as the manga until recently, to be a serpent that simply crawls on land. I don't know why it has this portrayal, especially considering the Japanese should be more familiar with oriental myths than we are, but that's their fault, in any case. There's nothing wrong with Gyarados's type.

2) Sky Attack is not simply a matter of flying in the sky, and while it doesn't seem to involve wings, it does seem to involve a bird-like figure nontheless. For those unaware, Sky Attack is called "God Bird" in the Japanese version. Even if you didn't know that, nearly all animations of the attack depict the Pokemon glowing like a phoenix before charging into the enemy. Gyarados's long, serpent-like body wouldn't be able to fit that.

As you can see, I don't think it should have Sky Attack. It shouldn't have Aeroblast, neither, since it's Lugia's exclusive move. Aerial Ace would make a lot of sense, though, considering nearly every other Pokemon with fangs or claws is capable of learning it.

I neva said there was something wrong with its type. I said its never gonna change unless they did wat they did like the magnets.

I stand correctly on Sky Attack as it is for only birds. but if a little Murkrow can do it why not.

For Aeroblast bein Lugia's exclusive move. Look at The 3 final starters in Kanto, Having Blast Burn, Hydro Cannon, and Frenzy Plant. Hydro Cannon is basicly a move using cannons hince the name but still The Johto starters can learn em from XD. So therefore. I dont think any pokes should have an attack thats considered exclusive. Unless its because Lugia is a Legend

I think Gyarados itself isn't suitable to be a flying type (Uh, no wing, no beak..), so almost no flying move is suitable for it..anyways the flying moves that suitable for it, I think is Gust, Aerial Ace and Aeroblast.

Its only considered a flying poke. because it has tha ability to fly in the anime

Wrong! It has the ability to fly in the Anime because it's a Flying type, not vice versa. The games and Gyarados came ages before the Anime. Like Yamato-san said, it is a Flying type because of the myth it was based on.
And Wong Agung, what the hell does that have to do with being a Flying type? Being a Flying type means that that Pokémon is able to fly, not that it is a bird. And does Rayquaza have a beak or wings? No!

I voted neither.
Aeroblast: It is the Lugia exclusive move. The only way another Pokémon is ever going to learn it, would be through a Gamecube game (curse you Lugia with Psycho Boost and Johto starters with Elemental Hyper Beams).
Sky Attack: Again like Yamato-san said, the attack is more bird based than sky based. As you might have noticed, only bird Pokémon can learn it. And as you also might have noticed, the battle sprite shows a bird.

I think that it should learn either Aerial Ace or a new blast type Flying attack. An example I thought up myself was Huricane Blast.

Thats what I said and meant. it has the ability to fly because it can fly like Rayquaza. And a new flying blast type move would be nice also

To me it doesn't matter. It can be both since they are pretty cool attacks.

Neither. Just give Gyarados Aerial Ace

jirachiken

lots of luv!
Aren't those attacks a little too much for Gyrados? Especially Aeroblast. I'd just go with Aerial Ace.
