Gyarados vs. Rayquaza - Now Actually Fighting!

Jason Park

The Steel Master
Okay, I promised (in the other thread) that I would make another drawing where Gyarados and Rayquaza are actually fighting.

Boy, I'm so tired, but I had to finish this before I sleep. I kinda hurried at the end, but oh well. :p

I'm still a newbie when it comes to coloring digitally so don't be too harsh! ^^

Here it is!

Squirtle is a cheerleader now! @.@

I like the way they're tangled around each other, though it does make it seem a bit more like a fight to the death than two trainers in a friendly competition. The shading, also, is very nice. Peaceful and yet a little scary.

Though Gyrados' head is a bit small, making it less intimidating. Good nonetheless.

Very good (except for squirtle etc.). I think the reference would've looked better coloured though.

I sware ill karatre chop you in the neck soon.

ANYWAY! On Topic...
I think its awesome, You made Gyarados look awesome.
They both look filled with anger and I think its brilliant how you added a sense of mystery with the trainer as a sillouhette(sp?)

Awesome work =)

I used Photoshop to color it. :) It took quite a while actually, I started drawing it yesterday noon and finished it (coloring) right before I slept. I still need to seriously speed up my coloring. >.<

Actually, Rayquaza is wild and so this dude is using his Gyarados to catch Rayquaza. I actually wanted to make the fighting quite serious because these two Pokemons are very powerful and kinda violent as well . :)

Actually, Rayquaza is suppose to be binding Gyarados' neck. :p

That battle pic is sweet. Still a little static (no heavy movements or such), but it's still a well done battle scene.

Awesome! =D I love your colouring, and it's cute with the three starter pokemon on the side. ^^
The water and the sky look blended. I think you should get rid of the line in the middle and make the water or the sky a different colour.

Wow...just wow.

I love the pencil sketched one, it looks amazing. The colored one is great as well [and it's even better that Gyarados and Rayquaza are tangled up in eachother], but Gyarados' head is either too big, or his body is too small.

Either way, everything looks perfect in the sketched one, and everything would be perfect in the colored one if the head was bigger/body smaller.

Good work.

Thanks for the comments. :) Yeah, I realize that Gyarados' head should be a little bigger, but oh well. It's too late to fix it. :p

Anyway, here is another one. :D I don't think this one deserves a new thread so I'll just post it here.

I pretty much did half of the drawing on Photoshop. >.< I hope it still looks natural enough...

That is one awesome picture, even if you are a bit new at coloring digitally. The only thing I have to critisize is the clouds and water, which in some places look a bit unblended to me. :x
But like I said, it's still a really good picture.

And that chibi Dragonite is so cute. X3

Awwww...Chibi Dragonite!

Wow, the tone of this Thread went from a Gyarados/Rayquaza fight, to a Chibi Dragonite [Ho Snap, RHYME!]. I love its pose with its hands by its side, as in "wut you want?".

Adorable <3

He he he, well according to Pokedex, Rayquaza is slightly longer than Gyarados. But I kind of wanted to make Gyarados overpowering Rayquaza so yeah... >.< I mean Gyarados can be longer than Rayquaza if it's a big Gyarados..

Ah, you don't seem to get the artistic freedom, do you? You don't need to obey every word PokéDex says. Pokémons lives in our imagination and you can make them look what ever you want and you don't have to do as someone else says.
You don't have to listen to me either, but let's use lines and dots to express what I'm saying better.

This is about Gyarados's size:
-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-
And this is Rayquaza's size; as I see it compared to Gyarados.
-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..
So...
Gyarados can still be pwning Rayquaza, you don't have to draw Rayquaza to look weak because of it's small size...
