Problem
well imo if they add some pokemon to the johto dex, they should give jasmine a mawile(lol) i mean jasmine is the only female NPC to train all steel types. and since she's a girl and mawile is a somewhat girly pokemon, jasmine should have one.

but thats just imo

I'm not so sure that they won't. You might be right, but they did change Giovanni's team, and they changed the levels of the E4 for FRLG. Not to mention, these games are in urgent need of a change in rosters, because the game is pathetically easy. RBY was a decent-ish difficulty (infact, FRLG made the game easier, overall, if we discount the fact that the gym leaders in FRLG had AI), but GSC wasn't. In order for me to rate the game as highly as possible, the game NEEDS to be harder. I think others agree.

Of course, there are other ways to make the game harder though, such as having less trainers, so our Pokemon level up much less, and will be weaker in comparison to the gym teams, or decreasing the levels of wild Pokemon, so, again, our Pokemon will be weaker throughout the game, making it harder.

Game Freak usually make intelligent decisions, and I hope they will again.

I agree, levels can change and minor Pokemon roster changes here and there, but please, don't mess with the classics and put Sinnoh Pokemon pre-National Dex...

assuming you the dex would remain the same, Morty should drop that Gastly for a Misdreavus

Skarmory would be too strong for Flakner imo, although if Jasmine were to have it, your pokemon should be strong enough to deal with it. She should at least get a Magneton.

Falkner should get Hoothoot or Spearow to replace Pidgey. The only other bird that I could see would be Murkrow, but only a slim chance, since its stats would be a bit strong that early in the game and seems like more of a Rocket exclusive pokemon. It'll make it at least challenging. TM wouled either be Roost, Pluck or Aerial Ace- all pretty viable (lol iamgine Sand-attack + Aerial Ace Pidgey/Pidgeotto >.>)

Bugsy should evolve his cocoons- that would be perfect if he were to give away the Silver Wind TM. If he goes with U-turn, that could make for an interesting battle, just when you think Scyther will be dead, say hello again to his earlier pokes lol. Butterfree would at least make the battle more interesting with the Compoundeyes Status effects X_x. He could replace one of them for Ledian and provide screen support lol, but i kind of doubt it at this early in the game.

Pryce should get a Sneasel and drop Seel. Or if Sneasel feels too menacing, maybe Cloyster or Lapras (more likely the latter). Clair would give Dragon Pulse, but if they're staying with the Dex, may not drop any of her Dragonairs. At least make them higher levels. And maybe have one of them Rain Dance to make it interesting with Swift Swim Kingdra.

Chuck would be fine i think but if they had to change something, maybe have a Machamp or Hitmontop (if Intimidate, would make Poliwrath a bit bulkier).TM could be Brick Break or Focus Punch. Maybe even Drain Punch? I'm not sure he'll get Heracross since I think that's more of a Bugsy team type (if rematches are there)

Pokemon Communist
I don't think the Gym Leader levels will change too much, maybe 5 levels higher is the maximum.

If Claire's last Pokemon is.. let's say a level 50 Kingdra, then the Kanto Gym Leaders' Pokemon have to go up to 80 or 90..

One cool thing to happen is: After you beat Kanto's last gym you lose your all the Johto Badges and then have to battle all the Gyms once more in super-ultra-very-mega-super-high levels >_>

As for Pokemon changes, I want them, Falkner with Hoothoot, Spearow, Taillow and Pidgey :p

Catching up on XY
I'm just posting what I think the leaders and E4 members should have and the levels. One's of GSC's VERY FEW flaws was it was a bit too easy. Also, they are in order of when the Pokemon will be thrown out.

Falkner: Hoot-Hoot(Level 10), Pidgeotto(Level 14)

Bugsy: Spinarak(Level 13), Metapod(Level 14), Scyther(Level 19)

Whitney: Cleffa(Level 15), Igglybuff(Level 15), Miltank(Level 23)

Morty: Gastly(Level 20), Haunter(Level 22), Misdreavus(Level 23), Gengar(Level 28)

Chuck: Primeape(Level 27), Machoke(Level 30), Poliwrath(Level 34)

Jasmine: Magneton(Level 35), Steelix(Level 40)

Pryce: Seel(Level 33), Swinub(Level 33), Dewgong(Level 38), Piloswine(Level 42)

Clair: Dragonair(Level 42), Kingdra(Level 46), Dragonite(Level 50)

Final Rival Battle: Sneasel(Level 43), Kadabra(Level 40), Haunter(Level 41), Magneton(Level 42), Crobat(Level 45), Meganium/Typholsion/Feraligatr(Level 47)

Will: Xatu(Level 44), Girafarig(Level 44), Jinx(Level 46), Espeon(Level 47), Slowking(Level 48)

Koga: Ariados(Level 46), Forretress(Level 47), Muk(Level 49), Venomoth(Level 46), Crobat(Level 51)

Bruno: Hitmonlee(Level 48), Hitmonchan(Level 48), Hitmontop(Level 48), Onix(Level 51), Machamp(Level 55)

Karen: Pupitar(Level 48), Murkrow(Level 50), Umbreon(Level 52), Vileplume(Level 57), Houndoom(Level 60)

Lance: Arcanine(Level 50), Feraligatr(Level 54), Gyrados(Level 57) Aerodactyl(Level 57), Dragonite(Level 62), Charizard(Level 65)

Woo...That took pretty dang long to write.

Actually remember how some trainers had pokemon that you couldn't get in Johto yet and had to wait in Kanto? Maybe they can do that with some Gym Leaders so Falkner would get for example a Doduo, which would separate him from that first trainer's Spearow.

Also on a side note, it will be nice to play a pokemon game again where the first gym isn;t rock type lol

and Bugsy should later get a Pinsir and Heracross. Maybe even Forretres. But if having two 4x weak Pokemon is too much, maybe Forretress can go to Jasmine.

I think its probably gonna stay pretty much the same like in the Red/Green remakes for GBA. Perhaps some minor tweaks.

At least you should be able to rebattle them with highest evolutions somehow with Bruno having Steelix for example. Much like the second round for E4 that you had in FR/LG and in Platinum on the DS. For Gym Leaders they could just do the same Battleground idea used in Platinum.

Something like that is probably going to be possible anyway.

Bolt the Cat

Bringing the Thunder
They could do Skarmory if they let you catch Growlithe/Vulpix is available as early as Crystal version (for those of you who don't know, you can get Growlithe on Rt. 36 in a patch of grass accessible without removing Sudowoodo.

Since we don't really know which pokemon will be accessible when, let me try and assemble teams based on the original Johto Dex:

Also, I think they should give Jasmine an actual Gym (as opposed to just a room with nothing in it).

Zazie

So 1991
I would like for the to keep the johto gym leaders levels the way they are. Lower levels doesn't mean easier if your playing through the game with a team of 5-6 pokemon.

As for changes to their pokemon I would like for them to make minor changes at the most. I would not like to see their entire roster changed though.

Increasing the levels of the kanto leaders could be nice but I doubt that would happen. In order to level up the gym leaders they would hae to level up the surrounding trainers as well which would involve a lot of work.

Spriter2

Pikreeko!
Hoping for the good ol' Gym leader rematch thing but I'm not sure that will happen though since it's only ever happened in the 3rd installments. 16 gym leaders would certainly be great with multiple battles though....

The main ones I'd like to see with new teams are:

Falkner: Not really asking for much here, throwing in a Zubat or a Hoothoot for some variety would be nice though.

Bugsy: Bin the Metapod and Kakuna, their evolved forms or even a Ledian would be nice.

Pryce: needs moar Delibird. :<

I haven't really thought about the Kanto leaders but Magmortar for Blaine and Roserade for Janine are obvious choices.

EDIT: I agree with Meganium ex on the levels also.

rematches would be nice- hopefully they broaden the range of trainers found in the trainer house in viridian city. Add gym leader rematches...along with eusine and maybe professor oak with his never used team in RBY.

Mercutio

Galaxy Master Kush
I'm not looking for the Johto teams to be too different, but Kanto could do with changing. I hated Blaine's team, total waste of time training for that battle every time.

Falkner: Pidgey, Hoot-hoot, maybe a Pidgeotto (but at the correct level).
Bugsy: Butterfree, Ledian, Scyther.
Whitney: Clefairy, Raticate, Miltank.
Morty: Haunter, Misdreavus, Gengar.
Chuck: Primeape, Machoke, Poliwrath.
Jasmine: Magneton, Steelix, Skarmory.
Pryce: Piloswine, Dewgong, Jynx.
Clair: Dragonair x2, Kingdra, Dragonite(?).

A big issue in g/s was the fact that hardly any of the gym leaders or E4 had johto pokemon. they should have more but after beating the E4 once they should get hoenn and sinnoh pokemon and so should the gym leaders.

If I Can Remember, The Jhoto Gym Leaders Were EXTREMELY Low(From All The The Other Regions) If It Were Me To Decide, It Will Most Likely Be Like This.

Falkner
Lv8 Pidgey

Lv10 Pigeotto

Bugsy
Lv 14 Butterfree
Lv14 Beedrill
Lv 13 Ladyba(Forgot How To Spell It)
Lv 17 Scyther

Lv 26 Primape
Lv 30 Machamp

Jasmine
Lv 30 Magnemite
Lv 32 Skarmory
Lv 32 Magneton
Lv 35 Steelix

Pryce
Lv31 Deliberd
Lv32 Dewgong
Lv31 Jynx
Lv33 Paloswine
(reason why the levels are lower than Jasmine was because this happened in the original)

Clair
Lv35 Seadra
Lv37 Dragonair
Lv37 Dragonair
Lv37 Dragonair
Lv40 Kingdra

My View I Believe That They Should Basically Keep Their Original Pokemon. The Only Difference Is Their Levels And The Pokemon They Have. They Should Have Their Jhoto Pokemon. If They Do Include Gym Leader Rematches, They Can Have New Additions To Thier Team, Like Jasmine Having Mawhile(Metagross Would Be Awsome, Pryce Having Manoswine, Or Clair Having Dragonite, Salamence Or Garchomp.

-lvl 47 Dragonair
-lvl 47 Dragonair
-lvl 50 Dragonite

I'll edit later with E4 and Kanto leaders.

I'd rather have Gym leaders stick to only Kanto/Johto, as if it is a remake, we gotta keep something intact, right?

Bolt the Cat

Bringing the Thunder
Here's something else to discuss: Should they improve Jasmine's gym? I mean, it's just a fancy looking room with nothing in it. They should make it into an actual gym with actual trainers and an actual puzzle. Although technically you could argue the Lighthouse could take the place of it, it still seems like the Olivine gym should be more like a normal gym.

I'm hoping for increased levels, Pokemon actually challenging to beat. I'm misting the old rosters and the ones that I would give them.
Falkner:
Lv. 7 Pidgey --> Lv. 12 Hoothoot
Lv. 9 Pidgeotto --> 14. Spearow
Maybe even throw a Murkrow in there for the heck of it. And no freaking Mud Slap TM. Gimme da Roost/Aerial Ace TM instead.
Bugsy:
Lv. 14 Metapod --> Lv. 18 Butterfree, maybe even a Ledian.
Lv. 14 Kakuna --> Lv. 18 Beedrill, or maybe an Ariados.
Lv. 16 Scyther --> Lv. 22 Scyther. Scyther rocks, keep it, but increase it's level.
NO Fury Cutter TM! Give us U-Turn or X-Scissor or something like that.
Whitney:
Lv. 18 Clefairy --> Lv. 24 Raticate, give us a challenge.
Lv. 20 Miltank --> Lv. 26 Miltank, just increase it's level and get rid of Milk Drink
And more Pokermon for her, Furret would fit her nicely. Replace Attract TM by something good, like erm... I don't care, Hyper Beam or something.
Morty:
Lv. 21 Gastly --> Lv. 28 Haunter, Gastly sucks.
Lv. 21 Haunter --> Lv. 28 Misdreavus, there's more than the Haunter line.
Lv. 23 Haunter --> Lv. 27 Duskull, or Sableye.
Lv. 25 Gengar --> Lv. 31 Spiritomb/Gengar/whatever cool Ghost type.
Shadow Ball TM is a keeper.
Chuck:
Lv. 27 Primeape --> Lv. 34 Machoke, this Leader is pathetic already.
LV. 30 Poliwrath --> Lv. 37 Poliwrath, it rocks, but needs more skill.
Add a Medicham or something for a nice extra. Dynamicpunch is a crap move that never hits, so give us Brick Break instead.
Jasmine:
Lv. 30 Magnemite --> Lv. 36 Magneton, EVOLVE it!
Lv. 30 Magnemite --> Lv. 37 Skarmory.
Lv. 35 Steelix --> lv. 41 Steelix, have fun training.
And why not throw stuff like Bronzong, Scizor, maybe even that Ampharos of hers in there? Oh, and Iron Tail is a badass move :p
Pryce:
Lv. 27 Seel --> Lv. 41 Glalie.
Lv. 29 Dewgong --> Lv. 42 Dewgong.
Lv. 31 Piloswine --> Lv. 45 Mamoswine, because they can.
Also, I'd like to see Jynx, Lapras, Glaceon, maybe even Cloyster or Delibird in there. And Ice Beam instead of Icy Wind TM.
Clair:
Lv. 37 Dragonair --> Lv. 48 Shelgon, more variation please.
Lv. 37 Dragonair --> Lv. 49 Flygon pl0x.
Lv. 37 Dragonair --> Lv. 51 Dragonite, I like Dragonite :)
Lv. 40 Kingdra --> Lv. 54 Kingdra, so that this thing is actually a challenge.
No Dragonbreath TM, Give us Dragon Claw. And no Garchomp because... it's ugly.

Falkner should not get a Hoot-hoot: you'd probably have seen a million by then. Bugsy should just get the pod evos and Scyther slightly upped. Whitney gains a Clefable. Morty's Gastly should become a Misdreavus. Chuck gains a Machoke. Jasmine gets one Magnemite evo, the other becomes Skarmory. Pryce gets two Dewgong, a Mamoswine, and a Glaceon. Claire just gets upped.

The Elite 4 just mainly gets upped, though Lance gains a Ttar, Karen a Honchkrow, and Bruno a Steelix. Surge loses an Electrode for a Jolteon and gains an Electivire. Sabrina gains a Slowbro. Misty, Erika, and Janine are upped, though Erika gets Tangrowth. Brock gets a Nosepass to replace the Onix, though he could get a Bastiodon or Sudowoodo-or maybe he could get fossil pokemon from the 3rd gen. Blaine gets an Infernape. Blue gets a up. Red becomes close to mastered.

Not too shabby

Flygon Lvl 56

FLYGON!? It's not even almost almost almost almost a bug. Not even close to that. You sure you don't mean... Beedrill?
