Gym themes

In every past pokemon rpg game, the few differences in the gyms include: the type it specializes in, and the trainers, plus some mediocre(in difficulty) mazes.

DO you think gyms should differ in other things as well, such as one in double battles, special defense, or poison inflicting themes? The sky is the limit.

Also, the battle frontier...
If there is a different battle frontier(called something else) in Shinou, what could be the themes of the buildings? IMO, the one about pokemon natures was the most creative one. Can you think of your own that might surpass it?

Hm, well, I definately think they needed a Battle Frontier attraction that focused on double-battles. Although you can still have double-battles within the attraction, I want a double-battle, where you can actually challenge the brain. Get it? Good.

For the gyms, poison-inflicting gyms could just be a normal Poison-type gym, with Pokémon that use Psychic. Perhaps Gyms that focus on a certain nature?

Comes to warn you...
I want a Gym with a Steel theme!! It would be the 7th Gym.

There would be big steel walls with door panels to open them. The trainers would guard the doorpanels with Steel Pokemon. They use mostly Skarms, Magneton, and Mawile, but any steel pokemon, including one with a mean Metang.

Then, at the end, after 4 steel walls, the leader, Ferum, with a Skarmory, Steelix, Scizor, and Metagross. I hope he poses trouble for some challengers.

See, that gym is like any other. This is to discuss gyms that have differences other than types.

I would like for the Gyms to be readily accessible on account that it's inane to expect every trainer to fetch a key that might not exist deep within a smoldering building.

However, in terms of the Gyms themselves, show some more trickiness. I enjoyed the puzzles that were put in places within Wallace/Juan's gym and I hope they keep that up, but the types should be more varied within a gym. For instance, I know I've said it before, but Fire/Grass would prove to be a more formidable gym than either one of them alone, as would Psychic/Dark. Better AIs would assist any time as well, and one that adapts to your particular team and style could be used to show how gym leaders are more experienced than the average trainer.

Or, if you're one of those that dislikes any type groupings, make new categories: There could easily be a gym of red Pokemon or white Pokemon as determined by the Pokedox, which would allow more roles to be placed on a team (red has sweepers in Pokemon like Jynx, while it contains tanks such as Slowking). If that's too corny for you, take a gander at strategies, which is brought up many times but only because it's a genuine way to add some more direct challenge to the Gyms.

And the Battle Frontier...keep the Tower I guess, but involve perhaps a facility which uses randomly, spontaneously-generated Pokemon - on the fly, it determines moves and species for the Pokemon of a trainer from a portion of that Pokemon's movepool. It could work, it could fail, it's all up to chance.

I liked the quiz questions in Blaine's gym. I'd like to see them return. I suppose having to beat a CPU in a mini-game of some kind to get to the gym leader might be good also.

As for types, I'd like to see the regular one type gyms, though, a couple of mixed type gyms would be good too.

What I think would be cool is a gym with every single type of Pokemon, that way, it would really test to see how good of a trainer you are. There would also be special tiles and if you stepped on them, your Pokemon would get either paralyzed, posoined, burned, frozen, etc.

I want a Gym like the 16th in G/S/C, a Gym that has pokemons of all types. It would be cool.

Gyms that you're talking about, poison you or paralyse you, I hope they don't make such a weird thing...

I like the idea of the status gym. Also... I wouldn't mind seeing a few more gyms like Claire's and the Ice one from G/S/C. Also.. and this would be the last gym in the game. Make one where you HAVE to use every HM you can use up to that point to get to the Leader. Might make people have to think for once, lol...

Gyms where you need all HMs = Bad.

UNLESS there was a PC right to the Leader, because I don't want to take 1-2 HM slaves to fight a GL. =X

[BrokenRecord]No more Monotype GYMs plzthxbye.[/BrokenRecord]

Not only for the sake of difficulty, but variety. It'd be so cool to see a GYM of small Pokémon, a GYM of big Pokémon, a GYM of Forest pokémon, a GYM of Mountain Pokémon... instead of boring and painfully easy single-Type GYMs.

Then again, I know we'll have another booring round of 8 Monotype GYMs and a quasi-Monotype Elite Four/Champion... unless Game Freak gets enlightened. :(

As for puzzles and all that... they've been OK so far in my opinion. And the RSE ones made you use your brain at last. I've no complaints in that regard.
