Three generations passed and they STILL never make a dark type gym, so i hope they finally make one this time.

1.electric
2.water
3.fire
4.grass
5.flying
6.steel
7.ghost
8.dark

No Monotypes would be better...

But since Game Freak can't break such traditions, no matter how better would the game be if they did...

GYM #1 - Grass
GYM #2 - Poison
GYM #3 - Ground
GYM #4 - Dark
GYM #5 - Bug
GYM #6 - Ghost
GYM #7 - Ice
GYM #8 - Dark

Yes. Two Dark GYMs.

Then again, they should drop the Monotype crap once and for all...

Quoted for truth. Seriously, this is what I think. Except minus 2 Dark gyms in one Region, that's overdoing it IMO.

There should be a daek type, b/c there's never been one, but other than that it's all up to speculation.

At last...

... a place to put my thoughts on! ;052;

Ok, c'mon guys, let us speculate and discuss a bit more, not just give a list.
Anyway, if we are to have 2 gyms for each type, this would be it (in order):

Bug, Ground, Ghost, Grass, Steel, Poison, Ice, Dragon

A G/S like array, if you ask me. But the question is... will we finally have a Dark-type gym?
If we do, I think they'll drop either Ice or Dragon, because we already have so many E4 members with those types, leaving Dark as the 8th gym, with a cool-looking gym leader.

- Off topic
My guess for E4 is, in order (as E4 types are mostly different from gyms):
Normal, Flying, Fire, Psychic. Great character possibilities.

- Off topic, yet again
Every1, please quit it! They just can't change the traditional monotype gyms! You can't relate a character with 2 types, at least not as well as you do with only 1. That has given us great characters, such as: Sabrina, Lance, Pryce, Karen, Glacia, Winona, etc, etc...

What we CAN ask for (and, hopefully, it will happen):
- Super balanced, Gary styled champion.
- A lot of double-typed pokémon in monotype gyms, giving more challenge.
- A surprising E4 member/champion using a not-so-important legendary.
- Gyms, or even better, E4 members who use pokémon from old regions. (Kanto, Jhoto & Hoenn).
- Please, "recicled" characters! Like Koga (from gym leader to E4 member).

What do YOU think?

Nice try, but not so. I never implied that they should incline for double Types. BUT! They can focus on another Pokémon aspects that should be considered more frequently, yet are mega-neglected. Because a Pokémon isn't only made of a Type or Types. Why not a GYM focused on small Pokémon? Then a GYM focusing in big ones? A GYM of heavy buffs? A GYM of light-as-a-feather critters? A GYM of green Pokémon? A GYM of red Pokémon? A GYM with the theme of Rain/Sun/Desert/Blizzard for all 4 Weathers existing? A GYM of dog-like Pokémon? A GYM based on dinosaur-esque Pokémon? A GYM for prehistoric Pokémon? A GYM with Pokémon using "Beam" Attacks? It's something that irks me to no end. There being SO MANY things a GYM can be based off, and they just use old and tired Type. All the damned time. Looking at other aspects of a Pokémon to make GYMs off them would not only increase variety BIG TIME, but it'd also increase the challenge badly. It's very stupid to have each and every "Boss" being weak to a SINGLE kind of Pokémon. Not to mention it's utterly boring to always have a single Type dictating the GYM set-up...

As for characters... not only Type can make awesome characters. A GYM Leader of a heavy Pokémon GYM could be a chubby, funny guy reminiscent of Snorlax. And how many fat guys we have in the games? Not many...

How about a very tiny girl with a special talent for Pokémon Training, whom became a Trainer AND a GYM Leader muh earlier than most, for Leader of a small Pokémon GYM?

In short, that's awfully moot. There are MANY things they haven't tried, but until they get off their dull and secluded mindset, that won't change. Much to most veteran's dismay...

Then again, you've got a point. They won't drop the Monotype crap... because they're stupid. Or blind. Or both...

I'm going to assume by "types" you mean "varieties" so this applies to the thread topic. With that pretense, here are the variety of gyms I'd fancy seeing:

1. Telegraphed moves
2. Evasion modifiers (hax, I know)
3. Status infliction
4. Stat upping, with a slight emphasis on moves like Calm Mind and Curse
5. OHKO moves (more hax, I know)
6. Moves with altered priority (e.g. Focus Punch, Extremespeed)
7. Baton Passing
8. Stalling and recovery moves

Now that would make for a good set of gyms.

WHERE IS PIDGEOT?!
what i wouldn't like to see is a dragon type gym. dragons are meant for the elite 4. it was weird in GSC with two dragon users. stupidness. couldve used dark, but NO.

i think that if they do base it on types again, they should have one or two pokemon that arent of that type, but just a favourite of the trainer, like Whiteny and Nidorina in the animé

If i was In charge of making the Gyms along with The TM's you would get, here is my desicion
1. Bug TM Fury Cutter yes i'm going back to G/S/C
2. Ground TM Dig
3. Poison TM Toxic
4. Ghost TM Shadow Ball, for this Team the Leader would use pokemon such as Banette, Duskull, Dusclops, Sabelye
5. Flying TM Aerial Ace
6. Steel TM Iron Tail
7. Dragon TM Dragon Claw
8. Dark!!! TM either a new attack or add Crunch as a TM
