Gyrados and Mantine

Boo

PMD 2 FTW
Does anyone else think that Gyrados and Mantine being the flying type is pointless? Its probably cause when you are battling there in the air. Every water type without legs is in the air when battling!

Mayness Yayness!
Some one ask vyksta (sp?) to explain it again....

Komedic Konservationist

N00b in the dungeon!
Gyarados is based off a Japenese legend about how a carp was transformed into a dragon after undergoing a trial, and this trial was flying up a waterfall. Or something like that :/

Korobooshi Kojiro

Funnnngaaaaa
Yeah, and plus real Manta Rays "glide" through the water (I think they sometimes jump out and "glide" some as well....or wait, am I imagining that.

*corrects your typo* You missed out the C.

KK is right about Gyarados' tale except for one thing... the carp in the myth did not become a dragon. He became a flying serpent which is how Gyarados got his flying type. Had the carp became a dragon than Gyarados would have been Water/Dragon.

No lol, they don't.

But thanks for the mental image.

Flying Fish do that though.

I have Diamond Now!!
It really makes no sense at all. Look at gyrados and tell me how that thing can fly with those little stubs they call wings. And how does mantine fly, unless they're talking about flying in the water, which would technically be gliding.

dragon_eye_2006

Hilo Thar!
i still think that gyarados should be a water/dragon type

Duhhh...SALMON!!

Yes they do (sort of). They do not "glide" over the water, but they do jump very high out of the water. It must look pretty amazing.

Ok, no lol this time, they don't jump out of the freaking water.

Seriously, they lack thrust to do so.

Plus they don't have enough muscle strength to keep their fins rigid and straight above water.

Kokopelli

Mostly harmless
^^^^
Yes they do. it says so in their pokedex entries. It's why they're the kite pokemon.

Get it right.

^LOL, pointless argument. Haven't I seen you on the Ebaumsworld forums? Anyway back on topic, have you seen the episode of the pokemon anime in which Brock fights his mother over the gym? Everytime it gets knocked into the air it came GLIDING back and shot onix with bubblebeam, I'd show you guys the video but Youtube is banned.

Can you PM me the link to the video?

Or atleast give me the episode title so i can watch it for myself?

I feel like kicking back and drinking some green tea while watching Mantine.
