Half Egg Hatch Run.

I'm pretty confused now... I've read that you have to put the Magma Armour/Flame Body Pokémon infront of your team to let the half egg run happen... I thought it didn't has to. What's true?
Thanks in advance.

Should have made that clearer.

Serebii states:
"there is an added bonus of having certain Pokémon on your team which have specific Abilities means the steps required to hatch the egg is cut in half."

It doesnt say it has to be first, just in your line-up.

No it's gotta be in your lead spot: "Having a pokemon with this ability in your lead spot will decrease the amount of steps needed to hatch an egg by 50%."

It actually works really well ^^

I have had it in different places in my team from first to last. doesnt seem to matter.

works only in emeral though. Also get on your fastest bike to make the run go quicker.

No it isn't. I had a Slugma in slot 5 and an egg in slot 6 and it hatched in half the steps. It just has to be in your team.

All the abilities that have an overworld effect in emerald (compoundeyes, flame body) require the pokemon with the ability to be first in the party ;123;
Most of them do, however the breeding ones do not, I can testify for this. The route I take to hatch eggs is Mauville up to Lilycove, then down past Mt Pyre and across back to Mauville, then repeat the circle. It took roughly the same amount of circuits to hatch a Larvitar in Emerald with a Slugma in slot 5 as it did an Onix in my Leaf Green.

Please link me to where it says that on the site. On the Breeding Additions page under Emerald, it says "But thats not all, there is an added bonus of having certain Pokémon on your team which have specific Abilities means the steps required to hatch the egg is cut in half." and does not specify whether the Pokemon must be in the lead spot or not, because it doesn't have to be.

I am the game
it has to be on the front.

Master Of Shadows
not for me it doesn't,
i have mine anywhere in my line-up,
it still works
and because of this i only need a few pokes to finish the national dex,
so it doesn't matter where the pokemon with Magma Armour/Flame Body is in your line-up

I had a go with Camerupt in 2nd position (after my Tropius). I kind of miscounted, counting around 2700 steps. That's closer to 2560, half of Chikorita's hatching time, then 5120.

I always thought it didn't really matter where it was in the team.
