Hamber on the Night of the Blood Moon! (130)

(You just said something so weird.)
There were 5 heroes to rescue, right? Had Ult not been a thing, Friede would have easily been a fifth battle member just like he was in Laqua with the rest of the kids. Feels like he's a bit retired.

It's like they've completely forgotten that Friede and Pikachu are meant to be special partners.

Friede and Cap's backstory was one of the best Horizons episodes, and it's highly likely their bond and entire backstory will be dumped into garbage just so Roy can get a Pikachu.
I totally agree! It somehow feels like their very special bond had never existed. Heck, even Instructor Starmie seems to be closer to Friede than Cap now. Although we got its (short) backstory, Starmie's bond with Friede should never be considered as strong as the bond he shares with Pikachu.
It just feels unfair if you ask me.

They are co-captaining because that is literally what leaders do when the boss is away.
The problem is: Roy has only acted as Friede's debuty and now the "boss" has returned. But even now that Friede is back, it seems he doesn't care about Cap anymore. The very fact that when Friede left for the Devon Corporation he left Pikachu with the RVTs while taking Charizard and Starmie with him almost felt like he deliberately wanted to neglect Cap.

Pokémon Anime Episode 130 Sidestory:
Sango and Onyx had spent their days doing nothing but battling, while Agate had just been separated from her students. Even though all three of them had been enticed to join the Explorers by Hamber... the first time they all met each other must've probably been quite awkward...

Yes! An episode about Sango, Onyx and Agate meeting for the very first time would definitely be both interesting and hilarious. I guess it won't happen, though. But the picture in that posting is great.

On an unrelated sidenote, I just realized something:
Why did the RVTs release the Six Heroes a few episodes ago only for Rayquaza to gather them once again right now? Couldn't they have just stayed together? :p I image the Six Heroes thinking something like" OK we've been locked away together for too long. Now give as a break"

Not sure what the point of Friede or the rest of the adults existing even was, if there was one at all.

Slowing the kids development as trainers to a crawl for the first 2 arcs of the series with constant hand holding in the name of “realism” in the series about children setting out into the wilderness on their own to tame magical creatures.

It's not going to happen, the point of these afterstory and sidestory illustrations is to show canon scenes that didn't actually get shown in the episode itself.

Because 3 kids cant run a ship. They wanted a cooler exploration vibe than just like, taking the plane everywhere.
And yet all that resulted in was a bloated cast where the majority of them do basically nothing for the plot. For all that, they could have had Friede be the only adult with the rest of the ship automated or his crew being a number of Pokémon who work the ship.

It honestly killed the series for me, I think. If not the main reason, it was definitely a big factor. The pacing in this series has been nothing short of horrendous.

Exactly. You'd think they'd learn after their past failures with both BW (too many caught Pokemon,) SM (too many human characters,) and again in JN (waaaay too many Pokemon.) But no, this series actually managed to one-up Journeys by having both too many Pokemon (the shipmons, who basically serve no purpose, and also the Pokemon belonging to the adult RVT's,) and too many human characters all in one.

The kids need something to eat (Murdock), they need their medicine (Mollie) and somebody has to repair their toy/ship (Orla). :D As for Landau, he's the gentle and wise grandfather figure. You see it's all about the kids, hahaha

And yet Ash and his friends were able to do all of those things and more (besides the ship, obviously, which is superfluous anyway) without having a single adult present.

Like Poke Master 7 said, all the adults did was hand-hold/hold the kid's development back for the first big chunk of the show, slowing its pace to a literal crawl. (And boring me to tears.)

Ash conveniently had his friends take care of all the household chores  (Poor Brock says hi)

Hoo boy. Those illustrations are canon but couldn't be made into episodes? I hope this isn't a Pokemon XYZ situation all over again.

Eh, he told Cap to continue taking care of the ship while he was gone.

Cap is a Pikachu, which is the face of the entire franchise. They just wanted to keep the mascot on-screen. ain't that serious tbh.

In the end Spinel is just fulfilling Gibeon's desires and wishes in finding Rakurium's potential for humanity.

Kind of sucks they abandoned the immortality aspect though.
What's interesting is that Hamber mentioned the threat posed by Strong Spheres to the bonds between Pokémon and their trainers, but not to their physical health. This suggests that the direct, irreparable damage from Laquium is mental, while Pokémon can recover from overexhaustion.

This is honestly the best episode of the arc imo, which tbf isnt a huge margin since this arc had been very mid for me , but it was nice to see us get more backstory for the explorers. Makes their motives more clear i guess.

BM Ursuluna vs Mega Medicham was super cool. I am guessing Onyx was a misunderstood tough guy, who would go after other bullies but got a bad rep.
Sango is well Sango... i sincierly doubt she is anne's sister lol.

Liko vs Diana is almost certianly guaranteed to happen. I wonder if that is the episode on 20th with the red star.

Spinel... whatchu upto buddy. What is your endgame? WHAT IS IT!?!?
