Happy Tree Friends 2 : The Code of the Mime.

~*~*~*~*~*~*

A young boy started to ride his bike like he always did at the begining of the day. He had purple fur, white face paint, a striped shirt, and antlers. His name was Mime. Though he wanted to talk he couldn't because sadly he was mute. Mime road his bike up to a house that seemed new to him. It was a dirt mound with two windows infront and a door in the middle. Mime spotted the person who lived there. He was a pink mole that wore a purple turtle neck and black sunglasses. He was trying to put a huge piece of pottery in a place to improve the look of his lawn. The young mole was about to tip over and fall. Mime rushed over to save him because if the large pot would have landed on him he know he could've died.

"Thank you! That was a close one." said the mole. "Let me introduce myself. I'm Mole. Who are you?"

Mime just staired. He then said in "mime" who he was. Mole looked at him with a confused look.

"Well.... A-aren't you going to answer?" Mole asked.

Mime looked at Mole and frowned. He knew now that Mole wasn't an ordinary person. He knew he was blind so trying to speak... or act out "mime" in this case would be usless. Just then a young girl walked up to them. She was a white wolf with a navy blue face.

"Hi, Mole!" she greeted.

"Hi, Alicia." Mole greeted back. "Um.... were you the one who helped me out. You sure took a long time to answer..."

"Huh?? No. It must've been this guy." she replied while pointing at Mime.

"Then.... Why doesn't he say anything?" asked Mole.

"I dunno." she replied. "Hey kid. Who are ya anyway?"

Mime flailed his arms and tried to tell her that he was a mime. Alicia looked at him and understood.

"Mole, I think he's mute." she told him.

Mime nodded. Mole looked at him and took off his sunglasses. Mime staired into Mole beautiful blue eyes. He didn't realize how handsom he was. He wanted to say something but then he remember he had no voice. He thought in Mole's world it was like he didn't exist because Mole wouldn't be able to know that he was there. Mime frowned.

"Well... that's OK." he replied. "See you two later."

"OK." Alicia replied as she walked away from Mole's house.

Mime watched Alicia walk away as she soon faded into the distance then looked at Mole's house. The poor young fawn thought there was no way he and Mole could end up together. He grabbed his bike and slowly road it away from the house. Mime stopped in an alley and sat down on the sidewalk to think about what to do. Alicia walked by him and noticed that he was sad.

"Hey... Mime... You OK?" she asked.

Mime shook his head. Alicia frowned.

"I'll leave if you want me to..." she told him.

Mime looked away from her. Alicia walked away from him slowly to go home. Mime looked up at the sky. He saw a shooting star. He wished in his heart that he would have a handsom voice just like Mole's looks so he and Mole could be together. Mime curled up on the sidewalk and slowly drifted to sleep. The next morning the sun shown brightly and woke him up. Mime groaned and felt vibrations coming from his throat.

"Vhat? I can talk? I can talk!" he exclaimed with joy.

Mime ran towards Mole's house completely forgeting his bike. He knocked on the door but there was no answer.

"Oh... Vhere is he?" he wondered.

Alicia walked up to him.

"Lookin' for Mole?" she asked him.

"Oh! Qui!" he answered.

"The last time I saw him, he was at the café." she told him.

"Thank you!" he thanked her as he left to the café.

Alicia started to think for a moment. Something about Mime was bugging her but she didn't know what it was until she finally realized he wasn't mute anymore. Mime made it to the café and started to look around for Mole. He spotted him laying agaist the wall of the café. Mime walked up to him and gazed into the sightless blue eyes that he saw when he first met Mole. He wanted to speak but didn't want Mole to hear his male, European voice and find out Mole was heterosexual.

"Mime... I know it's you. You don't have to be so quiet." said Mole.

"How did you know it vas, moi?" asked Mime.

"I can tell by your lack of speech." answered Mole.

Mole smiled and hugged Mime tighter. Mime looked up at Mole's face and saw no signs of anxiety or sweat from being scared but signs of love and kindness. Mime couldn't keep his feelings to himself any longer.

"Messieur Mole... I love toi." Mime admitted.

Mole chuckled a bit and then smiled at Mime.

"I already knew that." said Mole with a smile.

Mime smiled at Mole. He then gripped onto Mole's shoulder to support himself and pressed his lips against his. Mole didn't pull away. Instead he held Mime even tighter and continued to kiss him. Mime pulled away after the long kiss and looked at his watch.

"It's 10:53. Ve should go home. It's really late.” said Mime to Mole.

"Yeah." replied Mole.

Mole was about to leave but then turned back to Mime and waved.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Mime!" told Mole.

"Á voir ... my love.” Mime replied.

They walked home in the night. Mime felt good inside. He earned a voice and a love life. He thought about Mole until he got home. Mime looked at his house and imagined his parents' reaction to his new voice. He opened the door and went inside.

"I'm home!" told Mime.

His parents looked at him with shocked faces. Mime was confused.

"Vhat?" asked Mime.

His parents grabbed him by the arms and sat him at the table. His mom too a book from the shelf and put it in front of him. The title read "The Code of the Mime". Mime opened it and started to read it.

"No mime shall share vords vith another being for any part of his life or shall be punished." Mime read.

Mime thought about what it said for a minute and then realized his parents were angry with him. He broke the Code of the Mime. His parents told him in "Mime" that he was grounded and couldn't see any of his friends. Mime looked at his parents with a sad face. Tears started to come to his eyes. Without a word he ran up to his room and cried. After he started to calm down he looked out his bedroom window to see the same star that gave him his voice. He became angry. If the Code of the Mime kept him from his beloved Mole he wasn't going to stay in that house. He opened the window and snuck out.

"If Maman and Papa don't like my voice.... I'm leaving. I'll go live vith Messieur Mole." Mime thought to himself.

He was about to leave his house. He took one last look at it.

"Á voir ... forever." said Mime while leaving.

Mime walked away from his house and went looking for Mole. The Ninja triplets spied on him as he looked for Mole.

"Is that Flippy?" asked the youngest Ninja.

"No. I don't think..." answered the older Ninja.

"I thought Flippy was supposed to be green." said the youngest.

The eldest Ninja snuck up behind them. He glared at his younger brothers.

"What are you idiots doing?!” asked eldest Ninja with anger.

The two Ninjas turned around. They saw their brother glaring them. They were slightly frightened.

"Brother!" exclaimed the Ninjas.

"Grudgey is becoming impatient. He wants Flippy captured now!" told the eldest.

The two Ninjas crossed their fingers behind their backs.

"But... we already found him!" they lied.

They pointed at Mime.

"That's him! Right there!" They shouted.

"Good. Then let's catch him and get what we want from Grudgey." the eldest suggested.

"Yeah!" they exclaimed happily.

They chased after Mime.

"Vhere could he be? Messieur Mole! Hey! Vhere are toi? Vhere are toi?" asked Mime.

The Ninja triplets jumped down from a building and bagged Mime.

"Gotcha!" the youngest two Ninjas said.

"Ahh!! Let moi go! I didn't do anything to toi! Secours!"shrieked Mime. "Messieur Mole!! Secours!"

Mime struggled to get free but couldn't. The Ninjas tied the bag up and took Mime to Grudgey's lair. After a long drive they made it to the lair. They untied the bag.

"Have you brought me Flippy?" asked Grudgey.

"Yes. We caught and bagged him."said the eldest.

He turned to his brothers.

"Guys! Bring him in!” told the eldest Ninja.

The two brothers obeyed. Mime walked in slowly. He was terrified. He had no idea what was going on or what was going to happen to him. Grudgey looked at Mime. He knew immediately that it wasn't him.

"This isn't Flippy you idiots! I told you to get Flippy! How else am I going to power my machine? I need a very spirited person to do that!" Grudgey said with anger.

"Why can't this guy do it though? He can be spirited!" asked the eldest Ninja.

Grudgey paused and thought for a few seconds. He thought that maybe he should use Mime's spirit to power his machine. That way he could kill Flippy with the machine itself. He smirked and finally answered the Ninja's question.

"I think I can use him. Put him in the cage, minions!” ordered Grudgey.

"Minion?! Excuse me 'boss'... But we only agreed to help you kill Flippy so we could get what we want! We never said we were going to be your lackeys! And one more thing... Who said you had to be the leader?"asked the eldest Ninja angrily.

"Because I just am!" replied Grudgey.

"Well I say... I should be leader!" the eldest Ninja replied back.

"♪What makes you think that I will be lead by an idiotic twerp?♪" sang Grudgey.

"♪Well it rather be a twerp than an insensitive jerk!♪" sang the eldest.

"♪The point I fail to see... Because the leader should be me!♪" sang Grudgey.

"♪Oh really?♪" sang the eldest.

"♪How so?♪" sang the middle Ninja.

"♪Tells us Grudgey!♪" sang the youngest.

"♪We wanna know!♪" The Ninja triplets sang.

"♪Because that I'm the most evil. That's what you three all lack. That's why I think I should be the one to keep this team on track. And be the leader... Just like that!♪" sang Grudgey.

"♪Just because you're evil doesn't mean you're better than everyone else!♪" sang the middle Ninja.

"♪We try our best to be sneakier and better dressed than some...♪" sang the youngest.

"♪Jerk who's evil and makes people run!♪" sang the middle Ninja.

"♪How do you think you are better than me? Because the leader should be me!♪" sang the eldest.

"♪I should be leader!!♪" sang Grudgey and the eldest Ninja.

"Look. Let's just fight about this later. Get that kid in the cage right now!" ordered Grudgey.

The oldest Ninja growled but obeyed Grudgey. Mime was put in the cage that was the power source of the death machine. The closed the door to it and left the lair. Mime looked out of cage. He knew there was no hope for him now.

"Messieur Mole... Vhere are toi?"asked Mime to himself with a sad voice.

Mime curled up and cried in the cage. His was so scared. He thought to himself and knew if hadn't of left the house that never would've happened. But that didn't matter to him. He only wanted to see Mole and be with him. Mole finally got home and felt that something was wrong. He heard Mime's voice. He was slightly confused but then he knew that Mime was in trouble. He went over to Alicia's house to ask her if she knew where he was. He tossed a pebble at her window in order to wake her.

"Alicia! Alicia, wake up!" said Mole.

Alicia groaned and rolled off of her bed. She slowly got up and opened her bedroom window.

"Mole? What are you doing here? Go to bed." ordered Alicia.

"I can't. I need to know I Mime's OK. Have you seen him?"asked Mole.

"No. Just this morning. Why? Is something wrong?” asked Alicia.

"I think Mime is in trouble." replied Mole. "I need your help with finding him."

"Ugh... But I'm tired..."said Alicia.

"Please. I won't ask you for anything else if you help me this one time.” said Mole.

"Oh OK." said Alicia.

She closed her window and went downstairs. She walked outside to see Mole's worried face. Mole grabbed her by the hand.

"C'mon. Let's go look for him." said Mole.

They started to walk to gether to look for Mime. Alicia looked at Mole.

"You know... He could just be at his house." said Alicia. "Let's go check there first."

Mole gave her a worried look. Part of him knew that Mime wasn't there. That cry for help that Mime made in his heart told him that. He went to check there anyway though because he didn't want to keep Alicia up all night and get her into trouble. They knocked on the door. Mime's mom answered it.

"Mrs. Mime, Have you seen Mime any where? Did he come home?"asked Mole in a worried voice.

She nodded and told them in "mime" that he couldn't see anyone for a while and that he was grounded.

"Please. Can you just check in his room if he's there. Something's telling me he's not OK." said Mole.

Mime's mom frowned but let them in. She, Mole, and Alicia went upstairs to Mime's room. She opened the door to find Mime's bed empty. Mime was gone. Mime's mom had a shocked look on her face. She looked around the room but couldn't find her son.

"He must've snuck out!" Alicia stating the obvious.

Mole didn't say anything. He just stood there with a shocked face. He knew that Mime was in trouble. He heard another cry from Mime. Mole ran downstairs and out of the house. Alicia followed him.

"Mole! What wrong?" asked Alicia.

"Mime's in trouble! Haven't you realized that by now?" asked Mole angrily.

Alicia looked at him and frowned. She started to hear the cries too.

"Yeah... Where do you think he's at, Mole?" asked Alicia.

"Where else? Grudgey has to be behind it." answered Mole. "C'mon! Let's go get Mime back!"

Mole ran on the path that led to Grudgey's lair. Alicia followed him. The came up to the lair and heard Mime screaming. Mole imediatly ran inside. Mime was in the cage that was used to drain out the life force out of anything to power the machine.

"Mime!" called out Mole.

"Messieur Mole! Secours!" cried out Mime.

Mole ran up to the machine and started to hit it with his walking stick. Grudgey saw Mole trying to destroy the machine that will rid him of Flippy once and for all.

"Hey! You! Stop that!" yelled Grudgey.

Grudgey drew his sword and tried to slash Mole in two. Mole jumped out of the way. Mole told Alicia to get Mime out of the cage. She obeyed. Mole fought Grudgey with his walking stick. He hit Grudgey in the stomach. Grudgey bashed against the machine from the impact and became unconscious. The started to get out of control.

"What's going on?!" asked Alicia with fear.

"That machine's gonna blow. We have to get out of here!” replied Mole.

"Vait! I have to stay. Someone has to shut it off." said Mime with a frown.

Mole looked at Mime. He didn't wait Mime to take the chance of dying in the machine's explosion but he knew that someone had to shut it down. If he didn't the whole entire town of Happy Tree Town would be destroyed. He looked at his Mime with tears in his eyes. He then gave him a small hug.

"Be safe..." said Mole quietly.

Mime nodded and then ran to the machine's control panel to shut it down. Alicia and Mole ran out of the lair. Grudgey regained consciousness and looked around his lair. He looked at what Mime was doing.

"Kid! What are you doing?! Ya gotta get out of here! This place is gonna blow!" shouted Grudgey.

"I can't! I have to stop this thing first!" replied Mime angrily.

Mime shut the machine off partially. The machine still was about to explode. Grudgey grabbed Mime by the arm.

"We have to get out of here now!" told Grudgey.

"I'm almost done!" said Mime.

Grudgey grabbed Mime and pulled up his force field. They ran out of the lair and the machine exploded behind them. Mole and Alicia turned around to see the lair in flames. Mole stared at the inferno in horror. Even though he couldn't see he knew that three was an enormous flame in front of him with Mime inside.

"Mime.. No!" shouted Mole.

"Messieur Mole!" called out Mime.

Mole turned to see Mime unharmed. He smiled and ran up to Mime. He then hugged him. Tears of joy started to come to his eyes. He had thought he'd lost Mime forever.

"I'm so happy you're OK." said Mole with joy.

"Mime... How'd you get out of there?" asked Alicia.

"I should be thanking Grudgey for that." said Mime.

"Yeah... about that.... I don't know whether to call you brave or just plain stupid for staying in there. If I hadn't pulled up my force field you would've been vaporized!" said Grudgey with a frown.

"Thank you.... Messieur Grudgey." thanked Mime.

"Just call me Grudgey... OK?" asked Grudgey.

Mime laughed a little bit.

"OK." Mime replied while laughing.

"Mime!" cried out a voice in the distance.

"Vhat?" asked Mime to himself.

Mime turned around to see his parents running toward him.

"Maman! Papa!" exclaimed Mime.

Mime's mom ran up and hugged him. She had tears in her eyes.

"Mime. Don't scare moi like that ever again!" Mime's mom said.

"OK... But....Uh....Maman. Toi know.... toi are breaking the Code." told Mime.

"Forget the Code! It doesn't matter..." replied his mom. "As long as toi are OK."

Mime smiled. He knew he wouldn't have to listen to the "Code of the Mime" anymore. He could keep his voice forever and stay with Mole. They left the ruins of the lair to go home where they belonged.

And posting just to whine you got no reviews is spamming. So what :/ I've had about 15 stories posted that never got any reviews, and hundreds of views. And finally one did get a review... 3 years after it was posted in a place.

So. Don't. Spam/Whine.

Overall it comes off as sub-par. Because you don't describe these happy tree friends, people will get confused. Or not know wtf you're writing about. You should realise, on a pokemon fanfiction, non poke fics tend to be ignored mostly.

And I think maybe you should refresh on description via the advice thread, or some of the good fics around here. The characters also seemed a bit .. shallow.
