I gotta go with Blackthorn Gym's leader.(name escapes me.) That damn Kingdra could take anything that was thrown at it.

Uhh, this seems exactly like a post down the page...anyway.

Jasmine, as long as you don't take advantage of type advantages she is very difficult (what can I say, I don't like the most trodden path).

Whoops that slipped my eye. I'm dumb.

Please close this.

It sums up to be Clair...all your starters arn't very effective...Catching & training an Ice/Dragon is right before you head towards her gym. And the only Ice move out there is really icywind...either then that, you'd have to buy blizzard...which really isn't very accurate and reliable. And I don't seem to remember any dragon moves...But for some reason...I ALWAYS beat her...it's a mystery how I do it ^_^

Clair's difficult, but my standard water-type in Crystal is usually either Poliwrath or Feraligatr... both of which can learn Ice Punch, which is easily buyable at Goldenrod Department Store. It works pretty well except against Kingdra, but if Ice Punch isn't a OHKO against the Dragonairs, one will probably faint my pogey in one hit with Thunderbolt. >.<

The one leader I'd say is harder is actually Jasmine, if you have no fire-type. A ground-type could do well, but if you use Graveler, it could get fainted by Iron Tail from that Steelix... and Sunny Day means water-types don't work. Of course, you can make the fight much easier by leveling up over at Mahogany/Lake of Rage/Ninja Hideout, but that means those fights are much more challenging.

Clair is the hardest, yet still easy. If you started with Typhlosion, you can always catch a Swinub and evolve it. Although Kingdra makes Piloswine feel as if he's in the watery version of hell...

They're all easy, but Clair is the hardest amongst them.

Also, milowner, you might want to add a poll to this.

Clair wasn't that hard. The lack of decent Ice Moves and Ice users make it seem like it, but not really. A good Alakazam will make short work of her.

Whitney, on the other hand, is sheer pain unless you luck out badly or follow the 3 easy routes:

-Easiest: Train a Geodude to Level 21 so it gets Selfdestruct. Watch Whitney cry as you slap in on her Miltank of doom. :D
-Easy: Dull and no-skill "Train-Your-Starter-'till-The-End"...
-Moderated: Get that in-game trade Machop and train it to around Level 25, or evolve into Machoke if possible.

Whitney needs a specific strategy for her to be easy. Otherwise, she's going to crush you with ease.

Then again, maybe I'm so in love with her I'm now awfully biased. But eh... she's one of the few GYM Leaders that's actually defeated me and I can't seem to go through unless I devise a certain plan. Only Whitney and Emerald Tate/Liza are worthy of such honor.

Jasmine is the hardest in Gold, because I have NO charmander to flamethrower her!!!!! (at least in silver, vulpix is a good alternative). I had a hard time beating her with my geodude though.
