Has anyone ever noticed...

Has anyone ever noticed how pokemon fr/lg makes refrences toward real life places and animals? In ghastly's pokedex info it says ghastly can knock out an indian elaphant in 3 seconds. In the pokemon mansion with the books on mew and mewtwo it says that mew was found in south america. This leads me to beleve that there are non-pokemon animals and the real life 6-7 contanants. I say 6-7 because some people refere europe and asia as urasia.
Kanto looks like either a few counties or a small country in the south east part of the contenant. In g/s/c johto is conected to kanto through the E-4 entrance which suggests that there is either a strip of land or a bridge that conects the two countries. As for hoen I think it is in north or northwest of kanto.( unless the creator of pokemon says otherwise) There's a rumor saying that there are suppose to be 7 pokemon generations and they all take place in another country/tri-county area. In the early years of the anime ash dressed up as a cow as part of a bad joke and in the episode where ash goes to cerulian city to try to get his 2nd badge it showed a tank full of fish that were not pokemon.

What are your guyses thoughts on this?

Pokemon is set in a Fictional World which means they can make reffrences to the outside world.

Real world animals might exist in their universe, just with less mention than the focus of the show... Pokémon!

Someday they're going to have to get around to explaining the logistics of this whole thing. It's clear that the normal animals exist, but how can they? Are there whole continents where Pokemon don't live? If Pokemon do live on all continents, then how do the regular animals without special powers survive? Are Pokemon just rare enough that they're not eating up too much of the food chain? Or are the regular animals almost extinct and mostly just kept in zoos? There are far more questions than answers.

-.- we would be talking about this if pokemon didnt exist, meaning it is all in our imaginations, if pokemon didnt 'exist' before the people created it, why should they 'exist' now?

I guess its just there to help us understand the poke better. I wish it said Donfhan rather than Indain Elepant!

^ if it said that gastly could knock out a donphan in three seconds, it would make gastly look Uber Powerful.

Oh, and supposedly, these lands are based on parts of Japan, so there should be real life animals. I also am thinking... Would pokemon eat other pokemon? or just animals?

Clearly we're great!
In one of the mangas ("How I Became A Pokemon Card" by Kagemaru Himeno), it shows a real-world cat in one shot. I should scan that.

Every pokemon game, (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and now Shinou) are based in differen't sections of Japan.

That must mean that there would really be millions of pokemon world wide along side regular animals. Maybe pokemon are the dominent species seing as how they can control elements of nature.

Interesting idea. Maybe Pokemon would only live in Japan, and have been exported to india and the like by exports. but that wouldnt work because Mew would be already in South America. I always wondered how normal animals compared. They have no special powers or anything.

however, it would be UBER cool if they really existed!!!!!!

Uhm... yes Pokemon eat other Pokemon (Ekans ---> Pidgey ---> Caterpie) ... just like in real life... (Monsters ---> People xD). It is weird though, how normal animals would manage to survive in the Pokemon world, having no advantage. I also remember the first time Ash wanted to battle the Cerulean Gym, it was an aquarium and it had real life fishes...

in the jungle pokemon card of weeping bell there is a bird on its head. i always wondered as to why, as it had little resebalaence to a pokemon.
i guess maby they do exist, even though you rarly have a refernce to one, or see one.
this thread explains how the game regions corolate to the real world.

If you read the Pokedex entry for Regice in Emerald, it says that Regice was found in Antartica.

I never noticed that. Does that only happen in FRLG?

Most of these real-world things are in FR/LG because almost the entire text was taken from the old 1st Generation. There's plenty of quirky stuff in there because the "rules" of the Pokemon universe hadn't really been established yet.

i caught a ponyta in FR the other day and couldnt belive it dex entry but to answer your question ayers rock is in austalia and it is pretty much just a big rock i think it is te biggest in the world GO AUSTALIA ;123;
