I am convinced shiny's are a rumor that got way out of control and every claims to have them despite the fact that they don't really exist. Noone wants to be that one guy without the shiny so every claims to have seen a shiny. Reminds me of the old story The Emperor's new cloths.

Yeah, I know that Empror's new clothes story. It all ended that everyone did not want to sound/look stupid so they all pretended he was dressed... even the king himself pretended he was.

Anyway, I doubt that 50% of this forum have either Latias/Latios shiny since this is what a lot said.

you obviously never played gold/silver and got the red gyrados then

they just turn up. there is no way whatsoever of picking where or when one will appear. I have played games for 200 hours and not seen a single one then have played others where 2 turn up within minutes of each other in the first hour of the game.

I found a shiny Raticate in Pok'emon Manssion too. I had it untill i traded it over to an Emerald gamepak i bought on EBay. The game crashed and i lost nearly all my Pok'emon, except for my trustworthy Mewtwo. Since then, shinies have hated me for some reason. That was two years ago... no shinies since.
Oh and my bro got a shiny Poochyena. Mmmm... Golden....
