Let's talk about moments you thought you'd win, but you didn't.

I just got owned by an freakin' Azumarill!! wtf?

I was struggling in the Battle Tower in Ruby. I was on round 28.
I knocked out the first pokémon (Shiftry) without taking any damage, but he made my Poké confused though. The foe sends out Azumarill. So I though "OK this this won't be a problem".

My Salamence used Dragon Claw, but i took confuse damage.
Azumarill used Rollout (reducing my HP to 50%).
"Hmm I better switch to my Sceptile, because I can't afford to have my Salamence faint. So I did.
Azumarill rollouts - Reducing Sceptiles HP to 50%.
Leaf Blade, reducing Azumarills HP close to 50%.
Azumarill uses Rollout once again, and knocks my Sceptile out. Sh*t!
So I got Salamence with 50% HP left and Armaldo left. I send out Armaldo, because Salamence is more valuable to me, and Armaldo has better defenses.
Armaldo go, Iron Tail. Misses! O_O
Azumarill rollouts - knocking out my Armaldo with one hit.
Go Salamence, and good luck - Dragon Claw-Reducing Azumarills HP to 1/3
ROLLOUT - KA-DASH! I LOST! OWNED!! F*** YOU AZUMARILL!!

28 battles, ends with Azumarill. I will never get that Focus Band!


Anyone else underestimated a Pokémon?

That's too bad. I've never lost in-game by a Pokemon, and I don't do competitive battling so...

I really hated a Politoed I met in the BF, it had such an annoying moveset. Its Hypnosis and Protect attacks never failed, and they always do for me.

A stupid Magneton in the Battle Dome. I send out Gyarados, which has Earthquake. I use Earthquake, it doesn't faint. Magneton uses Shock Wave, instantly kills Gyarados. I forget the second PokeMon I sent out, but it got killed too.

I actually underestimated a Quagsire in the Battle Factory;

I managed to get to Noland the second time(my 41th fight). I sent out Latios, which had a physical move set, and he sent out Quagsire. I was very confident about winning this battle and getting my gold symbol and started using Dragon Dance. Noland's Quagsire used Counter, so I decided to Dragon Dance until I max Latios' attack(&speed) stat. And I did. I was happy and thought I would sweep with my Latios his whole team to death but I was wrong....
The stupid Quagsire didnt faint because of my Earthquake and Counterd it back in my face....Latios fainted and the only Pokemon left was Swampert, which got owned by Noland's SCEPTILe...

I was so sad and angry after this..

Yeah, Armaldo can learn Iron Tail...use the PokeDex on the main site and check it out. I've known about Armaldo using that attack since R/S was released.

I rarely lose in in-game battles with the NPC. I lost to a 14 year-old in the JAA and ended up with 5th place. Me, an 18 year-old, losing to a 14 year-old??

Yeah, I hate Politoeds. They're always so annoying, and yet when you use it, it sucks. I have lost countless times to Politoeds.

edit: lol i just checked it up, and now i see, water is resistant against steel
didn't know. i'm still an apprentice haha well it doesn't matter, azu wouldn't die if i used ancient anyway.

It was an accident, but I was about to clobber my friend's Houndoom with my Furret (Lv100) but I selected Amnesia instead of a Thunderbolt, and I was reeling after that.

Well, at Pokemon Stadium 2, Little cup, the opponent had only one pokemon left, a Meowth, and I still had two. That Meowth owned my pokemon with Headbutt....
I felt soo ashamed, I quitted playing Stadium for over a month...

I got owned multiple times until I played Netbattle. After I stopped, I got better at the games and barely ever lose now.
