I recently purchased a film of Miya-San, Princess of Mononoke and honestly, it is one of the greatest things I have ever seen. lol.

Erm any fans out there, would you mind suggesting a second movie to see preferrably something similar. It dosen't have to the a Miyazaki film but I would like some input from any vetran fans.
Thanks in advance.

It may. I rarely go to either so I wouldn't know :p

I have seen Princess Mononke and Spirited Away.
I saw SA first and loved it. I had heard loads about it and how good Miyazaki is so I borrowed it from my sisters (then) boyfriend.
It was brilliant, a film I would advise.
I would give it: 9/10

Princess Mononoke, though good, wasnt as good as its predescessor. It was a little confusing at times but still very good.
I would give it: 7/10

Naussicca(sp?) of the Valley of the Wind was another movie of his and IMO better than Princess Mononke.

Castle in the Sky was another movie he made which was also pretty good.

I must say I didnt like Castle in the sky, though Howl's moving castle, Mononoke and
Spirited away were all very good.

Miyazaki is a genius. <3 All of his films are glorious. I've seen Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, Castle in the Sky and My Neighbor Totoro. :3 Of course there's always Howl's Moving Castle which I have yet to see, but surely it will be just as wonderful as all of his other films, I'd recommend any of the aforementioned movies. ^^

The only Miyazaki film I've ever seen is Spirited Away, and that movie was great! :D I give it a 9.5/10. It's such a good movie, it actually won the highest award an animated movie can win in America. That means it must be good.

I swear I must be the only one on here who has seen Spirited Away and believes it to actually be overrated. Sure, I can respect all of the symbolism, references, and even the little touches that Miyazaki put into the film (such as when Chihiro was looking out towards civilization, missing where she came from and where she wants to go back to), but as far as being utterly great and actually claiming the number spot on top animated movies at IMDB... I don't agree. I suppose that I'll say that you'll probably like it, though.

I do have to recommend Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. It's behind Princess Mononoke as my favorite Miyazaki movie. Another one that, if you can accept being depressed, is Grave of the Fireflies. While I personally didn't find it to be as tearfully sad as it was tragic and depressing, it was a good movie and pretty much the majority who has seen were apparently in tears.

I read the Valley of the Wind manga; in fact I've had it for well over 3 years.. thought it was bad...

Was Grave of the Fireflies worked on by Miyazaki? I know that he didn't direct it, but I can't remember his involvement in the project.

I've seen a good number of Miyazaki's films. The best? Well, I'd have to got with Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Porco Rosso, and Whisper of the Heart. Whisper of the Heart is something that's easy to relate to, as it's really about a girl finding herself, which is something we all must go through. Porco Rosso is one of the more mature films; not in content, but in the way it's told. Love based on familiarity, guilt, and so on.

He actually wasn't involved at all, which is slightly surprising as it was an early Ghibli project. Although, I don't think that Miyazaki would get involved in something as depressing as that. Despite having some depth and creativity in his work, he's more geared towards our childhood's dreams of adventures and hearts and such (which isn't a bad thing, just that as far as maturity goes, it can only be found in a couple of his works).

I heard Grave of the Fireflies was amazingly depressing but amazing no the less.

I believe I am swaying towards getting Nausicaa. That and Spirited Away I am getting the most suggestions for.

Wolf Goddess, your the only who has mentioned Porco Rosso. That is such a strange concept for a move, is it really all that good?

"The Last Unicorn" was also a co-project of Miyazaki as well. That's why cels from this anime still go for well over $800. That's quite significant since Last Unicorn is from the 1980s.

I really did like Naussica. The story was really well done and more credible....especially that last scene of Naussica flying...well, I won't spoil it for anyone, but, really nice.

Spirited Away, while having superb visual effects, was a good movie, but didn't have quite the impact of Miyazaki's earlier works.

Are there any non-Miyazaki films that are similar that anyone could suggest that still have the natural/mysical feel of Mononoke/Totoro? I'm just building a list. lol.

EDIT: Also, does English-dub mean the movies are actually in English?
