"Loser."

Kalasu stood over the dark wisp, fading into darkness, falling apart into the air like dried leaves crushed underfoot. He pointed his sword to the former Shadow heartless, which was now eliminated. There wasn't much resistance here, not in Traverse Town.

With a sigh, he stretched his wings slightly, quickly pulling them back before they faded into nothingness. He hadn't met any of his kind roaming around, but he didn't mind. It made him feel almost supreme; the supreme Nobody. None had dared cross his path for a challenge, perhaps because they believed that it wasn't worth it, but he believed otherwise. With a grin, he placed his ice-cold blade on his belt, and walked off.

"All of them...are losers. Scratch that, worthless, stupid, underfoot losers."

He looked up to a high-up ledge, and stared at it longfully. He attempted to fly up, but only managed two inches before he dropped to the ground.

"Stupid wings!" he hissed, rubbing at his back. "Worthless, good-for-nothing wings!"

He leaned against the wall, under where he tried to jump up, casually waiting for nothing.

"Man, I'm boooored...nothing good ever happens here!" he complained, staring at the sky. "Can someone else come into my life? Can something happen? Can something...go do something?"

Thene Lairk lounged on a box, in one of the many alleys that dotted Traverse Town. Sighing deeply, he looked around at his dim surroundings. How could he have gotten here? Even with his knowledge of spells and magic, he had no idea what kind of power had transpotred him to this.... city? In truth, Thene didn't know what this world was. In the week since he had mystreriously been removed from the oasis, and placed in this new land, he had explored it extensively. Nowhere, could he find any sign of the Al Bhed people, he kinsfolk.

It was said in Spira that the Al Bhed were everywhere, with settlements on every continent. Nowhere could Thene find evidence of Al Bhed occupation. Which means, he thought with a shudder, I'm not in Spira anymore.

With another sigh, he sat up, and swung his legs over the side of the box, sitting upwards. A movement caught his eye. A dark cloud appeared to be forming a short distance away. As Thene watched, it solidified into a dark creature, inky black, with jerky movements. Thene sharply drew in his breath. It was one of the fiend creatures that had been plauging him! He withfrew his staff from it's resting strap on his back, and startied muttering the speel for his fire. With a burst, severel fireballs converged on the spot. With a blast, the creature was whisked away. Thene smiled. One less to trouble him.

Tom O'connor walked casually along one of the numerous dark alleyways in Traverse Town, a refuge for people whose worlds had been destroyed by the Heartless. Or at least, that was what he had heard. He was used to seeing new people arrive, even if he thought they weren't to be trusted. 'Probably in cahoots with those damned Heartless things' he had often thought to himself.

as he turned a corner, and his light brown trench coat followed behind like a highly obedient dog on a leash, he noticed a pair of shadowy legs flailing in the air. His eyes narrowed in a look of curiosity. On closer inspection, it appeared that the legs did in fact belong to some sort of creature, only it seemed to be in a bit of a fix. It was stuck head first in a garbage bin. Tom watched, still curious as the creature slowly removed itself and landed clumsily on its feet. Now he could see the top end, and immediately realised it was a Heartless. Without hesitation, the bug-like creature lunged forward towards Tom. He was just too quick for the Heartless, though. He easilly punched it with amazing force, enough to even send it on a beeline with an opposite wall. The second it made impact, it dissapeared in a cloud of blue-and-black fog.

"First time I've seen one of those things here" Tom said in a carefree tone. The truth was, he didn't care about things like that. As long as they didn't get in his way, he was alright with them.

I hope that was OK. Like I said on my sign-up, I suck at RP's....

Litera rested on the wall of the alley, her form covered by the shadows of the overhangs. Traverse Town was, to her, a dull place, with very little activity. She had gotten stuck here with some Heartless a while ago and now was thinking again.

They were wrong, those Heartless. The humans fighting them knew that. She wasn't sure anymore, but now she had to fight against her former allies.

The dark gray Zuidom'm stepped into the lighter area, her light gray hair highlighted by the light. Litera flexed her claws and bolted down the road. But she did encounter one person... a human? No; everything about him was monochrome in coloration. His sword was made of ice, and his hair was white.

He looked incredibly bored, sitting under that ledge. Hidden completely by shadows, Litera crept closer to him for a better look. This was... awkward. It wasn't easy to think of what to say, or if she should even say anything. She stood there, wondering what to do...

Thene slipped the staff back into it's holster, and started back to the central district of Traverse town. Deep inside, he wondered if he would ever getback to bikanel Island, to his family, to the Al Bhed. And further inside, he doughted it.

~ ~ ~

As he neared the central hub of Traverse Town, Thene noticed a strange sight. It was a girl-creature, who was shaped half human, half cat. "Y veaht!" (A fiend!) he exlcaimed softly. Fiends had claimed many at his city, and he was not about to let this one do any damage. "Bnabyna du tea, Tyng Uha. Venapymm!" (Prepare to die, Dark One. Fireball!) He unsheated his staff in one quick, fluid move, and started muttering. A glowing aura of red light started to gather at the tip, around thepoints of the star. Thene spoke the command word. "Vena!" (Fire!) A glowing ring od fireballs launched for the fiend-girl.

(That's you, cdra1617.)

Litera turned to see what human was screaming at her. The fire made her attempt to jump away, but her tail and right leg were still burned. She turned and growled angrily at the human, her yellow eyes glaring with rage.

"Fool human, what threat am I to you? It is true I am not like you, but I will not harm you now. Do not spark my resent!" That last sentence was not only to warn him of danger, but also because she knew if he did someone else would be her friend. If that occurred, she may turn on them, and she didn't want to deal with that.

The Zuidom'm flicked her burnt tail with annoyance. She began to grumble, "I am not a being of darkness, or perhaps I am. Does it matter if I still have a heart, even if it is fractional? I was never human!" Her voice had been steadily rising as she spoke, and by the end it was almost a yell.

Having said all that she needed to, Litera picked up her tail and examined the burn. It was very sore. Looking up from what she was doing, she muttered, "And if you plan to say anything to me, for Heaven's sake use English."

Kalasu glanced back at the girl who had appeared out of the shadows, yelling at some stranger. The girl herself seemed to be almost...cat-like, he thought, smiling. If this girl was trying to spy on him...hehe. Finally, something good could happen in this dull bore of a town. For a town where people from the different worlds were supposed to gather, this place seemed to be the dullest place in the...worlds.

"You know, if you were trying to spy, the first thing you would do is not let yourself be seen," he said with a small grin. "Unless you were trying to hide from rabid pyro-maniacal fanboys."

He stood back, waiting for a reaction. What would happen? Would she scream at him, lose her cool, slap him, or what? He had experienced all kinds of reactions to his remarks, and he always awaited the next best thing.

Josh stood there, staring the black creature down. The soft pitter-patter of rain could be heard. The creatures left anteene twitched. Just then it jumped at him. It's yellow eyes getting bigger as it got closer and closer. Josh quickly slid to the left, and the shadow crashed into a wall.

"Stupid heartless. Your just like the rest, you just want hearts, any and all. But you won't get whats left of mine, not now." The ground around him turned black, as shadows started to pop up all around. He flung his arms to his sides, and out came to keyblades. The one in his left hand being black, just like the tape on that index finger, the one in the right being a blueish white, just like the tape on that index finger.

"Eat this you stupid heartless!" he roared as he ran, swinging the keyblades into them. It took five hits to kill each shadow, and they where getting hits in on him left and right. He was soon running out of health.

"I better get out of here." He said to himself. He pulled of his hooded trench coat. His hair was black with blue tints to it. Two black wings unfolded from his back, and he shot off to the sky. He flew out of the third district, and back into the first one. Rain falling all around him. he landed onto a roof, and put his coat back on. He hopped down to the ground.

"So, Josh. I hope you get to make me richer." Said a rough looking man. he had blonde hair, and he had a cigarette in his mouth. He had on a white shirt, and blue jeans.

"Sorry Cid. Not this time. I gotta go pay those ducks a vist." He walked off to the item shop.

"Stupid @$#%^&* kid. He's going to get him self killed one day." Cid said, as he walked into his shop.

Tom looked down from the sky. 'Funny' He thought to himself. 'I could've sworn I saw something shooting past'. But he shruged it off, and continued on his way to the middle of the first district.

As it began to rain, he started to run. His footsteps clicked constanlty on the cobblestone pavement as water began to drip from the brim of the bowler hat atop his head. Shelter was needed badly if he didn't want to be drenched more than he alresy was. Luckily, he was heading for the resturaunt in the town centre, where he hoped to get a nice meal. But as he exited the alleyway and entered the town centre, he was shocked to see three people there. What were they doing there in the rain? Who were they? What did they want? All of these things filled his brain. In a move of caution, he stepped back a metre or two into the alleyway, and drew a Nine millimetre pistol from his shoulder holster. If they tried anything, they'd be shot on the spot. Tom wasn't going to screw around, not with these Heartless running around.

Litera turned her head towards the boy who had spoken to her. "Oh yes, pity that he saw me in the instant that I was in the light." she grumbled. He seemed to be amused with the situation...

Why was it that he didn't tick her off so bad? Not everything could, she figured. That stupid balance curse... no, it was that he hadn't shot a fireballat her. Litera flicked her tail in annoyance. She then took a stride towards the monochrome boy, straightening up. Quickly she swiveled her head to the one who had shot the fire and sneered, "You have good eyes to spot a shadow in darkness."

She turned back to the other. She growled out, "I don't have any fanboys, particularly rabid ones." Litera gave a snide, fanged grin and waited for a reply from either boy.

The back ally behind the Hotel was particularly dark tonight. Tetsu walked slowly through the small pools of water that resided in the dreary space. Then, from behind, a creature in armor appeared, its helmet clanking. Tetsu stopped, sensing its presence. He quickly drew a Kuani from its holder on his leg, and threw it at the Soilder, for a direct hit. "They've come." he whispered, walking to the wall to retrive his knife. I better leave here before more... his though was cut off, as for at this, a ring of ant-like creatures appeared in a ring around him. He quickly took a battle stance, and with speed that looked like he had dissapeared, he retrieved his knife and zipped back into the middle. He drew anothe knife, and put them together in an X shape, summoning a ring of fire around him. The Shadows fell back, and he ran through an opening in their formation. He jumped up to the terrace of one of the rooms, jumped up on the awning, and onto the roof. He dashed off to the doors of the first district, shoving them open, and quickly closed again, blocking off a slew of Shadows that appeared. He sighed. "Well, that was annyoing." He walked forward, and around the corner to the accesory shop. He walked in, the bell on the door chiming. "Whadaya want?" the store's owner said. "Oh, just getting in from the rain." Tetsu responded, grinning at the man. A light rain had started to fall in the town, but that was the least of his worries. "Well, if you wanna do that, go to that Item Shop next door." He came out from behind the counter and pushed Tetsu out the door. Well, he wasn't very inviting. Tetsu thought, walking next door.

"I'm Huhey!" "I'm Dewey!" "And I'm Lewey!" "And welcome to our Item shop!" The ducks chimed. Tetsu agknoledged them with a nod and wave. Another person stood in the shop. "And who might you be?" Tetsu inqured of the man cloaked in a black coat.

Thene hesitantly placed his staff back into it's holster. She doesn't act like a fiend, or a Heartless, for that matter, he thought. Maybe I was to hasty.

He extended his hand in a tenative shake. "E's cunno vun yddylgehk oui. E druikrd oui frana y veaht. E teth'd ghuf oui frana y.....iss....fryd yna oui, aqyldamo? E's Draha." Seeing her bewilderment, he switched to Basic, the common language of Spira. "I'm sorry for attacking you. I thought you where a fiend. I didn't know you where a.....umm....what are you, exactely? I'm Thene."

Still watching all of the arguing from the darkness of an alley, Tom noticed the person speaking god knows what putting his staff back. He then proceeded to extend his hand, obviously wanting to shake. Tom took a few steps forward until he was no longer concealed in the alleyway. From Tom's point of view, these people were clearly not hostile. 'Still' he thought to himself. 'You never know'

After much deliberation, he decided to approach these odd-looking people...or person, as he could now quite clearly see one was almost....almost like a cat. He walked cautiously towards them, putting his pistol back into its holster as he did so. They didn't seem like they were going to rip his head off or something, so it wasn't needed.

"You aren't from around here, are you?" He asked.

OOC: I guess I'm kinda late....

Leif gazed around the small city. Traverse Town, that’s what one of the men he saw earlier called it. He sat on the top of a house with his red eyes glinting from the moonlight. Lowering his hood, he got up and slightly kicked the roof. A large scowl was on his face.

He had recently left his home, Radiant Garden to search for his Nobody. Leif had hoped that maybe he would be here. If he was here, Leif would have to wait. He couldn't find anyone. The streets below were completely bare.

"No one to mess with out right now, I guess I'll have to find one." A large smile replaced the scowl.

Suddenly, Leif reached under this cloak and unsheathed his swords. He stood up and did a side flip into the neighboring alley. His swords scraped the buildings and caused sparks. Leif spun around, leaving slash marks in the wall. He dashed through the streets dragging his swords behind him.

"Anyone out there!?" Leif yelled trying to find someone to attack. Along the way he kicked garbage cans over, and laughed. "Come on! I want to have some fun!"He looked everywhere for people"Come out, come out, where ever you are!"

Leif suddenly stopped. Something was behind him. With a quick jerk of his head, he saw a group of Shadows. Looking down, he shook his head.

"Stupid Heartless, I told you already, I don't need your help." The stared at him, and continued to jitter. "Go away! I may be Heartless but I work alone!" Leif took a swipe at one of them, and it jumped back. "Now you get it!" He made a face at them, and dashed away.

Litera smiled at Thene. "I am not a fiend, even if my skin would say otherwise. Where I come from, the Lion-folk, or properly called Zuidom'm, are just as common as you humans," She said, her smile dropping. What was she anyway?

The Heartless had attemped to take her heart, but she still had it... no, a half. The balance curse ensured as much. "Though I am a Zuidom'm still, I am also a half-heart. It's a long story that I'm not sure I can explain," Litera said, flicking her tail. "My name is Litera."

Another guy appeared out of nowhere, asking her a question. She turned towards him quickly, thinking, If I get any more attention, I believe I'll have to run. "No, I'm not from here. I am from the realm Hiila, but it is gone now," the lion-girl said smoothly.

Now then, I may have been wrong. I may have fanboys of sorts...

Josh looked at Tetsu from beneath his hood. He didn't say anything, but he acknowleged him. He picked up the items he had all ready payed for, and stared at Tetsu.

"Who, and what I am, is none of your busniess, but, if you need help, just give a whistle." He said. He walked out the side door, and stepped into the open air resturent. As he sat down, a waitress walked up to him.

"May I help you sir?" She asked.

"Give me a bottle of water please." Josh said. She walked off, leaving Josh alone. He looked at the people trying to run inside from the rain. He chuckled to himself. I wonder. Could that man I saw in the item shop help me? From what I hear, the Guard Armor is still alive and looking for a challenge. He thought to himself. The lady brought him the bottle of water.

"Thanks." Josh said, as he took a sip from it.

Marina looked out across the now-rainy Traverse Town's second district from the window of her apartment. It was usually a bustling place, but nobody was there at the moment. Ever since word had arrived about the multi-world Heartless invasion, the town was practically deserted. And this allowed Marina to systematically search the town for Natsume without interference.

Natsume....

It had been years since Marina had seen her sister. And now Marina had searched this town, down to the very last deserted alleyway. Marina was now positive that Natsume wasn't in Traverse Town. She had no reason to be here, except for a single snag:

She had no clue how to leave.

Interspace travel was difficult. Marina wasn't necessarily a being of darkness, which made it nearly impossible for her to travel between worlds without a vessel. With no ship, she was stuck in this stinking city, which was quickly becoming very dull. The Heartless had stayed away from this world for the most part, and there were few job openings. Luckily, Marina had managed to catch a part-time job at the local café that allowed her to pay for a realatively cheap space and scraping by. Thinking of which, she thought, I wonder how long until my next shift. She pulled down the right sleeve of her cloak to reveal a thin hand and wrist with a wristwatch. Currently, the time was 12:27, just past noon. That meant that she had enough time to grab a quick bite of food before the afternoon shift.

Marina turned to the rest of the room, which looked neat and orderly despite Marina's current cheap living. The floor was rough wood and the walls were an off-white, dimly lit by the overhead light. A large wooden door led out into the building hall and anouther, smaller, divided the living room from a bathroom. On one side of the room was a worn sofa and a matress, blanket and pillow that had been fasioned into an effective bed. A dresser and desk were also there, obviously used but restored to a useable condition. The other side of the main room had a counter, cabinets, stove, sink, table and refrigerator, all once again simple but cost-effective. Other various appliences were strewn about the room along with a few things in the corner that Marina was still trying to restore to working order. Marina had found some really good stuff at rummage sales for her apartment, and was amazed at how far the miniscule paycheck from the café would do.

Marina strode over to the refrigerator and took out a leftover hamburger from the previous night. She quickly stowed it in the microwave oven and grabbed the plug with her hand, sending a constant stream of electricity into it with one hand while setting the timer with the other. Marina had to admit, her prowress with the element of lightning did lower electrical bills by a ton. Only a few constant-run things needed to be plugged in; she could supply the rest of the power. After a few minutes, Marina pulled out her lunch and literally stuffed it down. Looking at the time, Marina had roughly twenty-five minutes to get across the district to the café. It wasn't that far, but it would be at least a fifteen-minute walk.

She grabbed her working uniform of black pants, a red shirt with a collar and a black cap with a picture of a coffee mug on it. Marina changed into it quickly, making sure that it all looked good and straight. She kept her hat off, though, and stuffed it in her cloak pocket. Marina put her cloak on and grabbed a dark green umbrella from the nearby stand (as it still hadn't stopped raining). She checked her hair in the bathroom mirror only to realize that she would be putting a cap on, which would only mess it up anyway.

Marina walked out to the hallway and to the stairwell. For a change of pace, she decided to slide down the banister rather than walk down stairs. She slid down to the bottom, then walked out through the lobby. Marina opened her umbrella and held it close over her head, then turned left. Maybe work would be less gloomy then the streets outside. But that was high hoping.

Tom looked away from the cat lady. 'Oh joy' he thought. 'yet another refugee'. He assumed the guy with the staff was as well.

"OK" he said, sighing at the same time. "Let me explain this to you both. When someone's world is destroyed, they somehow end up here in Traverse Town. I have no idea how. They just do," Tom shifted his eyes towards the guy with the staff. "But since you can obviously fend for yourself, you won't be needing the grand tour. Just know that you won't much here other than a few shops, a hotel, and that resturaunt over there. Speaking of which, I'm headed there now."

Tom ran over to the undercover resturaunt and removed his hat, revealing his messy brown hair, then sat down. Dry at last. A waiter approached him.

"Ready to order?" he said, looking down at his notepad.

"Yes thanks. I'll just have a pasta." The waiter wrote it down, then walked towards the kitchen.

Marina looked out from under her umbrella at the Café across the street. It was a tiny little thing, tucked away between the Gizmo Shop and another large office building. It seemed quite misplaced, but seemed to get quite a few customers nontheless for something that wasn't much more than a coffee and pastry shop. Marina would have liked better to work at the larger restaurant a few blocks away, but they weren't hiring, so she instead worked at this place. Marina didn't have much of a problem with it, she just would have liked to be able to live off the larger paycheck the restaurant would offer.

She ducked behind the place and took out her keys, finding the right one to fit the employee entrance. Then she opened the door, stepped inside and shook off her umbrella. She closed it and took off her cloak, then put them both in the unused cupboard where she put her things during the work hours. Marina then put on her cap, straightened herself up and walked out to the area behind the bar. She quickly spotted Betsy, a friend of hers whom she knew had worked the last shift, over at the far register. She didn't currently have anyone to serve, so Marina decided to switch off with her and allow Betsy to go home.

Marina walked up to Betsy and tapped her on the shoulder. Betsy turned around and looked up at Marina. She had to look up, because she was very short for her age, just about five and a half feet. Betsy grinned widely and walked toward the back entrance, whispering "thanks" as she did. Marina then moved up the the cash register and looked around. The cafe was slightly emptier than usual, and the rain didn't seem to be letting up anytime soon.

Yep, Marina thought, I'm in for a long shift.

"Fun, fun, fun..." Kalasu snickered to himself, shaking his head. "You don't get this kind of crowd here, not usually."

He slowly crept away, hoping not to be noticed. He carefully moved into a shadow, though it didn't really help due to his contrasting colors. Once he was far enough, he began to run.

As soon as he was far enough, in a further district, which was mainly occupied by empty houses, most of them empty. Alone, he took a deep breath.

"Finally, alone and away from the catgirl fanclub...now, what to do, what to do..."

His eyes darted around, searching for some kind of chaos he could cause. Perhaps freeze a house...that could work. He set out on the lonely street, looking at a small, homely, peaceful house that he could freeze. Lifting up his dagger, he pointed it to the house--

--before a loud explosion rang from his side as a house was completely obliterated. The sound could have easily been heard all around town.

"Whatever caused that wasn't small," Kalasu murmured to himself. "Noooo way."

Heavy footsteps rang throughout the town, confirming his guess of the size of this being.

Suddenly he wished he wasn't alone.
