I have 3 new pokemon I'm training, and i'm looking for a 4th. I have narrowed it down to Rhydon and Aggron. As you can see, both are quite even, yet Aggron seems to have the better stats, while Rhydon can do more with attacks like: EQ @STAB,Choice Band. It can do alot.

Aggron Iron Tail @STAB,Choice Band. I know I could use EQ also, but i don't want to waste it on a pokemon I'm not to sure of. So what should I get?

Depends on your team. I like Rhydon more, because it looks cooler and gets good attacks(Swords Dance, Rockblast, Megahorn..). But if your other team members have a weakness to water or grass types, use Aggron.

I'd go with Aggron (my Fav. :)) They both do have double weakness but Aggron has a bit of a better chance of survive then Rhydon. Aggron's are both pyhsical but his defense is one of the highest of non-uber/legends, so he has a chance of living while Rhydon weakness are both spiecal, and Rhydon doesn't have the greatest sp. defense. If you need a pyhsical wall, go with Aggron.

i prefer rhydon, because of the higher HP, swords dance, and STAB EQ.

The Emerald King

Rhydon (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Lightningrod
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 6 HP
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- EQ
- Focus Punch
- Sub
- RS

This is my personal Rhydon. It's helped me to win 3 of my 4 symbols at the BF.

i like TEK's set, but put the EVs into HP instead of defense. that way, it gets 101 subs that don't break from just one Seismic Toss. besides, defense is high enough. you usually want HP to be about twice each defense.

Aggron is a Defensive Wall, which is outclassed by Skarmory and possibly Steelix due to the fact that Aggron has Physical Weaknesses. Most Physical Sweepers have a Ground or Fighting move, so he won't be able to stay in on them for very long, unlike Skarmory, who has no Physical Weaknesses and can sit on them for as long as he likes.

Rhydon is a Physical Sweeper most of the time, carrying Megahorn, RS, EQ, Rock Blast (For Subs), FP, Swords Dance, Curse, and Double Edge. It is a pretty sturdy pokemon, able to withstand at least 1 physical se hit, but it won't last long on special hits. It can hit pretty damn hard with 1 SW and can put up 101 subs for Seismic Tosses.

All in all, they have different roles in a team. If you need a sturdy wall, you might wanna go Aggron, but I would recommend Rhydon due to its overwhelming awesomeness and its ability to do a whopping to nearly anything in the game.

Aggron as at least he can take a blow and survive on his double weakness. Rhydon is slow and special double weakness.

... steelix has the same physical weaks as aggron does. the reason why it's a better tank is that a) they're not double-weaks, and b) steelix has a higher base defense.

also, fighting moves and EQ are really common in competitive battling, whereas grass is almost never used on anything not named sceptile, unless your opponent has the patience to breed for a good Hidden Power.

Don't forget water double weakness. Which is preety common.

....And?......
Choose Aggron.
1.It is strong against Water-types,unlike Rhydon.
2.Aggron can learn Surf,wich K.O's a Rhydon.
Aggron can also learn:Ice beam,Fire Blast,Surf,and,Thunder/Thunderbolt,
making it incredibly difficult to beat. Ice beam protects Aggron from Ground-type attacks, and Surf protects it from Fire-types.

I'd try to go away from the spiecal attacks for either one of them. Nithers speical attack is great. Maybe have one speical attack if any. I use to have t-bolt on my old Aggron set. Mine right now:

Aggron @ Leftovers
Impish Nature
Sub
Focus Punch
T-wave
Rock Slide
