Help with Macho Brace

I was wondering if the macho brace permanetly halves speed or just for the time you have it on. This is the first time I've EV trained and I haven't got to the point where I can figure it out for myself yet. Thanks.

the macho brace only halves the speed when it is held, when it is taken off it goes back I think...

yes it dose lower your speed and its only worth useing on a slow tank because you get no speed evs and you should look at the EV guide too.

The guide says nothing about the Macho Brace lowering speed permanently so that's why I asked.

The Macho Brace halves the speed of the Pokemon that is holding it. The speed is only halved when it is being held, so when you take it off it goes back to normal...
It also doubles the ammount of Evs you get from Pokemon Making training a lot easier!

Fighting Master is right. Speed is NOT NOT NOT NOT permanently lost.

Speed is sooooo not permanently lost. I've tried it. In a double battle, I used a Suicune with higher speed holding a Macho brace, and a Suicune with lower speed without it. The lower speed Suicune went first, despite having... lower speed! So Macho Brace is cool to use.

Well you have confirmed that it doesnt take speed way forever but does it prevent speed EV's from being gained still?

No. Ironically, Macho Brace will HELP you gain Speed EV's

Thanks for the help guys. That's about the only thing I didn't understand. But while we're on the subject, can I get the PokeRu's virus any easier other than battling and battling wilds? Do any of yall have it?

I have it, got it off linoone/elecrike/magnetric/wingull/zigzagoon. Not sure which, I was training my shiny ghasty I caught on the same day. PKRS is a big help, halves the time to EV train. and no, don't believe the noobies who told you it permanently halves speed. If it did, don't you think my aerodactyl would have 147 speed rather than 394?

EDIT: oops, forgot to answer the Q, the easiest way is trading with someone who has it already I guess, its random as you know, and I have played over 500 hours and this is the first time I saw a shiny + PKRS

b-i-gaskme is right. Probably the easiest way to get it is by trading with, well, someone who has it. Considering the odds of you getting it are considerably less than finding a shiny... Ironically, however, I have never found a shiny in Ru/Sa/Em. until Gulpin (see sig, Gorebyss via trade). I've got PKRus, though...

Oh yeah, GRAF if you ever do get PKRS, give the pokemon you're training Macho Brace also, and some places where you can train, you get up to 12 in one go! :0 (I'm talking about legendary pokemon)

Oh one more thing for my newb self. After all the reading I've done I don't think it's possible, but I want another bulbasuar but I only have a male one so I suppose there's no way for me to get another one besides starting my game over. Or is there? And yeah I don't have anyone to trade with so that's out of the question.
