Anyway, I do remember someone mentioning that Kanon and Masato's shirts were indentical, but that was quite a while ago so the thread it was in was probably pruned.
Oh, that's too bad. I would have wanted to see that. =/

Okay, I know it was explained in other posts, but the three Lati@s that were flying overhead were two 'new' Lati@s guiding another Latios to replace the one that died, right?
Well, it's not really known if those two Latios and Latias were escorting the Latios to Alto Mare. It could have been that all three Latios and Latias were moving in, as seen with the three shadows flying around in the garden at the end credits. Or it could have been something completely different.

And, did they really say that Latios died in the US version? Since you know, kids know nothing about death >_>.....
Yes, they did mention that Latios gave up his life for the city in the US version. It was a very sad moment in the movie for me. =(

And how different was the japanese version from the US?
Well, the US version had two minutes cut off in the beginning of the film, which explained Alto Mare's past and the Latios and Latias legend. Instead, the US version implemented a completely different legend of Alto Mare (An evil trainer used an Aerodactyl and a Kabutops to terrorize the city, but Latios's and Latias's father brought the water to the city to drown the evil Pokemon. Because he used up all of his power, their father died and became the Soul Dew.).

Of course, music selection had to be changed (with language barriers and all). Only the title and ending songs were affected. "Mezase Pokemon Master 2002" was replaced with a longer version of "I Believe," and "Hitori Bocchijanai" was replaced with a medley of other bland English songs. Everything else was kept intact. ^^

Er, for a more in-depth comparison between the two, check out this site here: http://www.bulbagarden.net/~dogasu/comparisons/movies_specials/mov05.html

All time favorite Pokemon movie. Can't say more about it. The music on the Secret Garden was one of my favorite tunes of all time.

This is the first of the 4 movies I have in Japanese (the first time I saw pocket monsters in Japanese at least)... I cannot say if I like it over any of them except 4 though since the first two movies don't run on US... Anyway, I will do my review now...

First off I wanted to say that the opening theme (as well as the ending theme and background music) seemed to really fit... Infact, the opening is currently of my favorite openings to the series and the ending is tied for my favorite songs in the series (tied with the 4th movies ending theme). In my opinion, Hitoribochi Ja Nai is just that good. A nice melody that follows with the scenes. The whole story introduction was very nice as well, and with it kindive helps the confushion this movie would have if it hadn't been there... (could you imagion if they hadn't put that in, it'd be like... WTH just happened when that wave appeared)...

Anyway, after they went through the book and started the race that Satoshi and Kisume(sp?) were entering, I thought it was interesting (showed more things were capabile of participating in) and the opening theme worked well for the entire race... The City might I add was really beautiful as well, I wouldn't mind visiting just to see the sites..

I thought that how they introduced Satoshi and Latias was well put... and that short part where Latias assisted Pikachu in getting a drink and cooling itself off helped it out a bit, not the mention the running sceen and the 3D (exp. the 3D view of the city) was absolutely amazing... I liked how they gave Latias and Latios a few more reasonible abilities to help show how they lived (the use of their psychic abilities to look like people or turn transparrent), it kindive gives depeth on how they live ammonst the humans of the town.

Latios and Latias both had interesting personalities... Too be honest, this movie is the sole reason I put Latios and Latias up as favorite characters in the series, Latias as tied for overall favorite characters in anime (tied with Teto-san ^^ ). I should also mention that I put Latias as the girl in the poll "What girl in pokemon do you think is cute/have a crush on" =P just simple because I really love her personality in the movie.

Latios the carrying and protective older brother, but when he gets to know you is very friendly and a bit playful

Latias the cute and adorible younger sister, who is happy to make friends, but will become serious when needed. I'd also like to add that she seems very easy to get to know as well.

One thing I thought was odd... Was the fact that durring the one real battle in the whole movie (Latias and Latios VS the spirder (forgot name) and Effy/Espeon)... Why did they only seem to use that psyhical attack (btw, what was that attack? Tackle, slam, boddy slam, head butt?!)? Was it so they could preserve they transparrent attack. I have to admit that it was odd that Effy/Espeon downed Latias in one psychic attack (exp. since Latias is a psychic/dragon pokemon and should have a resistance agenist it), but I thought it was good too because it kindive shows that you don't have to be super powerful to become a legendary pokemon (aka, that fact kindive makes them more interesting in certian aspects).

The Basalisk (sorry, I'm bad with names, aka the Device) was another oddity in my book... You get really georgous 3D scenes when they ran through the town, but the device seemed a bit lower in standards when it came to a movie 3D object? To me at least. The idea for the bars and items in the city was kindive neat as well... and the race to get to the Device (since I cannot spell it's name correctly) was a pretty interesting scene in the movie, I like how they did they I can at least say. The 3D water pillar like piece was pretty neat as well aspect...

When it came down to it, I think it might have helped a bit when Satoshi entered the building with the device, they had a battle between Satoshi with Pikachu and Latias VS Effy and that uh... Spirder pokemon (eheh ^^() )... Satoshi I personally believe didn't interact with the two legendary theives enough in the movie... A battle there could have possibly helped concertibly... I also want to admit that the line where the one theif stats that "I could even take over the world" comment was a bit much... I couldn't see the device being THAT powerful... ~shrugs~

I have to give it a plus that they finally got over having a character "Die" in the series... Even though it was a favorite... Death shouldn't be sceen as a problem that kids shouldn't see... It's only natural...

I also like how they make it sortive a mystery on who kissed Satoshi at the end... IMO, I personally have to go with Latias kissing Satoshi... Don't get me wrong though, Kanon could have made a last minute decision that she liked him. But Latias showed way more interest towards Satoshi through the entire movie, Kanon barely showed any period... The kiss also seemed more of a "Thank you for being with me" kiss to me... As well as what happen to Latias (the loss of her brother) and how effectionate(sp?) Satoshi was being towards her afterwards...

Over all, the pros where:

1. Good theme
2. Plus for making both Latias and Latios seem very interesting
3. Very good 3D, the Device being the only real problem (all the other aspects were perfect IMO)
4. Good story, I liked it
5. Great music
6. They got over the aspect of now showing death in the series

Negatives:

1. Not enough focus on Latios... He barely got 1/3rd the spotlight Latias did
2. Could have used more interaction between the theives and Satoshi...
3. The device being not as pretty as the rest of the 3D
4. The movie seemed a little short, I think maybe a few more minutes could have helped. Maybe they could of haved a scene that gave you some personality traites on Latios...

Personally, I loved the movie... It was a good overall movie... I kindive hope we see more of Latias too. To tell you the trueth, I know they don't want it at any costs, but I think Latias has the highest chance of joining satoshi's team in the series... Mainly on how she battled (which was rather poorly I might add eheh ^^() )... I think they don't want it because Satoshi would be a bit too powerful and run through gyms and leagues with a legendary... But I couldn't see Latias doing that. But if they got her just to say spend time with him. (The loss of her brother could leave he lonely if they needed a reason, and Satoshi was very comforting towards here... I think it is a good reason if they ever did)...

Well, I guess I could always keep dreaming ~^

This is basically the only movie I have never seen dubbed. Thank goodness too, as I heard 4Kids ruined the backstory.

Anyway, the BGM was excellent and the plot was solid. I don't know why people thought this movie was boring, maybe because it didn't have enough explosions and Pokemon kicking the crap out of each other? ;/

It was Latias, look at the way that she was running. Her elbow to her sides Like Latias!
Another thing, earlier in the film, Latias took a liking to Ash when she got him to follow her to the Secret Garden and she was sad when Ash had to leave the Garden.
Anyway Kanon didn't show any attraction to Ash at any part of the film...

I like Mezase (sp.) Pokémon Masutaa 2002 (opening theme)!!!!

Well, It is possible it was a last minute thing... But as I said, it highly leans towards Latias do to how she was attached to him (I guess that's the best way to say it) through out the movie...

I think this is a so-so movie. It had good points and bad points as described by many people on this thread.
The visuals were great. The music was sweet.
the only thing that really left me feeling crestfallen was making Espeon [my favourite pokemon] evil.
And there was something not quite right about those rocket girl's pokemon attacking people. Like when the Espeon uses psychic on bianca and her grandfather.

Did 4Kids have an explination as to why they were turned into Rocket Gang members in the American version?

Anyway, Espeon (effy =D) attacking people isn't anything new. Meowth has attacked various people before, and so has a few others if I recall... Though it is rather rare...

Besides, whats wrong with Effy being on the wrong side?

I guess its because I love Espeon so much. Before this movie came out I always pictured Espie as a good natured and devoted travelling partner like Pikachu in a way. Then again I suppose if I had Espeon Id make him do the same thing to the Rockets.
And when Meowth attacked people [like his owners] it was pretty funny.
i guess i felt this movie was more powerful in a way.

Team Awesome
This movie is pretty stunning in the way that it's drawn, and Altomare is definitely lovely, but I just don't like this movie as much as I like the first, second, fourth, and sixth movies. I think all the recycled music, and the one in-movie song that barely sounds like it's in English, really drag it down. It also doesn't help for me that this was the first movie without Team Rocket helping, the motto, or Team Rocket ending the movie. I did like the whole thing with Ash, Latias, and Bianca, especially the end scene (Misty and Brock were so funny). I wish that Misty and Brock had had more of a role in the movie, though. They really don't do that much. The part where Brock is inspired when he sees the light in the window is funny, but I still wish he and Misty had had more to do.

3/5 for me.

well this movie will always be my fav for the main reason that it was the movie that made me fall in love with pokemon the other things that made this movie awesome
1. setting- the city was beautifully done, a good change of pace from the what i think is the boring places the other movies took place in, not to mention i love Venice
2.good storyline- i really liked the storyline, they made it for a more general audience which made it more appealing although they could have went deeper with the storyline
3.music-what can i say about the music, i still listen to the sound track everyday, i love "search for the girl" and (this may sound wierd) every time i hear "stopping the water" i get goosebumps just thinking about the movie, and off course the awesome redistion(err not spelled right) of "I Believe"
4. My favorite pokemon-Latias of course is SO cute
5.Bianca-ummm no comment (i love her)

but yeah i love it so much

As you say, Yes, I agree wtih you.

Music: one of the music is played by Harmonica, this music is very exotic. But the style of the music is like France and Italian .

Storyline: well done. When Ash is looking the girl, because pikachu is chasing the girl and he saved the girl from suffering. Ash chase her, until they go to the garden. Wow, make me excitied. When Latios was arrested, Latias told Ash to save her brother, then Ash use any methods to save Latios. He is a heroes. Finally, Latios sacrified himself to save the city, this make me sadly .io feel that Latios is a great hero.

Good 3D movie: From pokemon 2000, many screens ,action and some pokemons are acted, drawn by 3D engine, that make me very interesting to see Pokemon movies . Because usual japanese cartoon, don't use 3D engine.
In Pokemon heroes, many screens are used 3D engine to created or acted.

Beautiful city: the water city, may be Reference from Venice in Italy. Very beatiful and classical city.

I have to agree, Team Rocket and Kasumi and Takashi(sp?) had little roles in the movie. Latios also had a surprisingly small role in the movie as well... o_O Even Kanon and the old man have more of a role then he does... o_O

*hugs her DVD of the original with english subs* Yay, I love this movie! Widescreen, entire backstory, good songs to suit Altomare's atmosphere, and good voices for Lati@s is the only way to fully enjoy it IMO! ;380; ;381;

In the dub, I just wanted Lati@s to shut up! High-pitched to almost make ears bleed and very overused in scenes like the capturing Latios one and right before the tsunami appears! Annie and Oakley should have brought muzzles! o_O I wish they translated the Japanese end credit song, I love that compared to the recycled songs from the TV show soundtracks. Though the Pikachu's Goodbye song was touching, this isn't the Pikachu's Goodbye episode from Season 1! And the full screen and cutting of the backstory. *vomit*

I wish I had the Japanese version...maybe I can torrent it somehow...

Behind the scenes:
;381;: You know Latias, you really shouldn't take a human as a mate! It's just...not right!
;380;: You're one to talk! I see you swooning at Kanon under your invisibility! XP
;381;: *whistles innocently* I don't know what you're talking about...^^;;

i have a very soft spot for this movie, this was the thing that got me into pokemon, and as pathetice as it sounds anime as well, since ive only seen the dubbed version i dont mind Lati@s sounds, heck i kinda like it, i loved the locale, the italian style music, i wouldnt change a thing, except i liked the idea better that Annie and Oakley were just some super thieves instead of Team Rocket spies and i do wish they would have used "Hirobachi Nai" for the end credits instead of the crap that they did use
