That's pathetic! The box clearly warns that the game has mild gambling references! Besides, I don't play slots much, I just collect the coins from the lady until I have enough for the TMs. I seldom actually use the machines. I bet I'm not the only one who does that either.

What do you think they'll do next? Ban Pokémon battles because they're too violent??

If that's the case, they'd ban the games altogether.

I don't see the point to be honest, it's not like playing a Pokemon game has ever turned anyone on these forums, or anyone anywhere into a mindless addict of gambling, and if so come forward, I'd like to meet someone who became a gambling addict and blames it on a kid's cartoon and game series.

Firstly, they don't ban casino based games for the Nintendo DS system, yet they remove gambling from these games, if anything, they could raise the age limit on the games to cater to their laws, although anyone who would buy these games wouldn't exactly be stopped, as they would know that.

The worst thing that could happen in these games is if what we found out what the man in the Inn in Canalave City was doing to you whilst you were sleeping. And I doubt he was doing what even half of you are currently thinking of right now.

so whats going to happen with the buenas passwords thing in europe?

ahh europe where you can drink at 5 but cant play fictional slots

Nintendo was probably given the choice to remove them or raise the rating of the game, and as the slots really aren't that huge a part of the game, they chose to remove them to avoid the risk of losing a portion of their audience who wouldn't be allowed to play a game that is rated M15+ or whatever the ratings are in UK.

Congratulations, you just received the Fail Flag!

First of all, the Game Corner will be removed from games in EUROPE.
You live in Australia. And in Australia, they put the rating a little higher and put the gambling references thing on it so they could keep it in the game.

I'm so proud!:p *cries in a corner*

But seriously, I didn't know that the ratings were different in Europe. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Maybe someone could recommend they put that warning, if possible.

I never use the slot machines but I see no reason to take them out.

Pokemon games have a lot worse references to other things worse then gambling.

Yeah but you do realise that it's a law of the European Union that Nintendo cannot overlook, right?
Yes, it's not the worst thing in the game, but it could lead to slot machine addiction and gambling addiction in general in the worst case. It's not that you can say they are completely wrong in removing them.

Well, worse things have happened. Command and Conquer: Generals was banned in China (even though China won the war in the end!!) and heavily censored in Germany. Australia bans almost every horror game (such as Left 4 Dead and Dead Space). Many games has been banned in Germany because of nazis in the games. All the Pokémon games has even been banned, in Saudi Arabia because, well, of the gambling and apparently because of promoting Zionism and because it includes evolution.

If we move outside video games we get even more ridicoulus cases.

They can't help it if that's the law. Yeah, it sucks, but it's not the fault of the video game companies.

You know, I thought TV was a lot more ...umm..."loose" (if you know what I mean) over in Europe. Why are they worried about slot machines? I mean, seriously, do they not have gambling in say games for mature audiences? What about other kinds of crud in the equivalent of M rated games? Oy!

Okay...
Command and Conquer: Generals was banned in China (even though China won the war in the end!!)

Remember that China has the 'Great Firewall of China' and censors most forms of media. They banned it probably because China might be viewed in a negative way in the game.

Australia bans almost every horror game (such as Left 4 Dead and Dead Space).

Dead Space was not banned, or even censored. Left 4 Dead is not banned, but the sequel is. I'll agree that it is a poor decision, mainly because of our R rating for movies, but not for Video Games, and there is worst stuff on TV. But it's not our say.

Besides, Video Game censorship here in Australia is not as bad as it is made out to be. It is probably 2 out of 10 games that get rated by the OFLC that are banned. Mostly due to excessive violence and sexual themes, but those 2/10 games are games that are pretty bad anyways.

Many games has been banned in Germany because of nazis in the games.

Not out-right banned, just censored to get rid of the swastikas. Understandable, that they want to try and move on from the past. Also, because many of those games portray Germans in a negative way. You wouldn't really want to release a game that insults an entire nation.

If we move outside video games we get even more ridicoulus cases.

Such as...?

Sorry, I just wanted to expand on or correct some of the statements you made.

On topic: I can kind of agree with them. If you think about the target demographic, it makes sense. The battling and breeding are not worse at all. The 'violence' in Pokemon is essentially the same as Loony Toons violence. Breeding, I doubt young children would grasp the entire concept of breeding anyways.
