Hidden Power Base Attack?

I was playing Colosseum today to try to train my Pokemon to level 100. I got bored of my Ampharos' moveset so I decided to replace Return with Hidden Power to see if I got lucky and got Ice. Strangely...I did. O_O Now, all I need to know is its base power. I tried attacking my Altaria with it...it did 178 damage (my Altaria having 157 special defense and my Ampharos having 196 special attack). From this information, could I figure out its base power (I do not get the formula at all >.<)?

there is shown how you can calculate stuff to get the hidden power's type AND power. Though it is a little bit complicated......But I dont know another way to find out.

*responding to bold* There is. And it's a little easier, too. Say hello to the the individual value calculator. Pretty accurate (showed that my Salamence had HP dark at 70 damage, and it's true after testing it out)

Well, it says my Ampharos has Hidden Power Dark at 70 damage too, but the attack is Ice.

Stats at level 70 Brave:
HP: 236
Att: 151
Def: 142
Spc Attack: 196
Spc Defense: 149
Spd: 90

I guess you also have to put the Ev's there, that your Ampharos has. If you didn't Ev trained it/didn't pay attention to his EV's, it isn't possible to get the base attack of his hidden power through this calculator.

Did you count in EVs? If not that is probably why it's wrong.
