hooray, it's Jetx!
What in your opinion are the highlights of pokemon in the last ten years? No stupid ones like "Being created", but what was really clever or cool about pokemon in the last ten years?

For me, it was the battle frontier, and teaming up in the battle tower, it just seems so cool, it was a great idea to have.

I'd say when America got the first Pokemon movie. It proved even little creatures can be a blowout in the box office...

When Red and Blue were released, it was the dawning of a new age!

and when the pokemon center in tokyo opened.

Not to mention, nintendo got more money!

it'll probably be when emerald came out because then you can have nearly every pokemon if you have multiple copies of a game and only need a hand-held. and when the web pages of pokemon started i now know almost everything about any pokemon so PM me questions and i can answer them. they wont always be right though

The biggest highlight for me would have to be the beginning of the Hoenn League (Advanced Generation) episodes. New faces such as May and Max, new Pokemon, new start (and better stories to boot), new adventure, and really sparked my (and others too I bet) interest in the Pokemon anime again after boring old Johto. BF is great too, but wished the brains weren't similar to gym leaders of previous leagues.

I have to dissagree, I think that G/S/C heralded a new age of Pokemon

I agree, the GS generation was the one that actually changed and added more to the Pokemon series. Hoenn had a bunch of poorly designed Pokemon (no offense to the original ones in the 3rd generation) and rehashes of older Pokemon. The GS generation had original Pokemon (only a few were rehashes), and it added a night and day system, and breeding. I say that revolutionized the Pokemon series (and it was a huge highlight) more than the 3rd generation ever did.

When 4kids weren't the ones dubbing it. 8D

Then Arbok will have no evolution.

I agree with the G/S/C. There were more pokemon, plus the game went dark at 6. ;X

The biggest highlight for me was when the first Pokemon movie came out in the theaters. I was so excited for that day and I was jumping up and down the whole day until I went and saw it with my grandmother. I LOVED it and that's what kept me into Pokemon for all these years.

The arrival of G/S/C really was big too. It introduced three new characters into the pokemon world (Kenta, Marina and the Rival (His name slips my mind...)) and it also showed new pokemon the world and had the day and night times.

xD Awesome times.

o_O...Wasn't 4Kids always dubbing. I remember their logo all the way back from the first episodes.

People are forgetting the introduction of Abilities, revolutionizing each Pokemon and battle. They should go back to the ideas of G/S/C though, they were good and would be a lot better in 4th Gen.

Really and truly
I agree with Luke Groundwalker; the second generation games totally changed; especially the enviornment. With times, days of the week, day and night, it made the games a lot more realistic. Also the introduction of Dark and Steel types, breeding (and eggs), new moves like the weather ones and of course all the new Pokémon! (I also really dislike the third generation Pokémon, but there are a few good ones.)

Oh, and one more that hasn't been mentioned; DOUBLE BATTLES! I thought the idea itself was amazing when it was first introduced, and I still love the idea of two Pokémon working together and using all new moves.

How was pokemon 10 years old?The games came out when i was 5-7 and im 12 almost 13

What did it start with?

The breeding capabilities in the second generation was astoundingly revolutionary; instead of having to trade your starters during each stage amongst your friends you just had to place them in the breeding center and you'd get children with better stats and neater movesets. In addition, it allowed one to snag more of those hard-to-obtain Jynxes and Snorlaxes that everybody so cherished. Really, G/S was incredibly groundbreaking but this is the most important facet of the new experience that has weathered the times (the addition of Steel and Dark being a very close second).

In addition, I think Crystal was revolutionary in its own way. With more time-based events, the first selection of genders, and finally! access to the beam-class elemental attacks to an astounding variety of Pokemon, it rocked the casbah in its own special way.

As a few others have said, the highlights have to be breeding, day/night and time-based events from GSC.
