Hiidoran...an individual?

I don't know jap and i am not sure about the story of DP, but from how they design the legendary in the past, they usually group them together. from the first gen, 3 birds, mew & mewtwo, second gen, 3 legendary cats, 2 legendary birds, ho-oh & lugia, then the 2nd gen phantom pokemon celebi, to third gen phantom pokemon jirachi, and the 3 regis, latios & latias, and then the sea, ground and sky ruler pokemon, kyogre, groudon, rayquaza, and the sort-of third gen mewtwo, deoxys (one of the strongest) and then for the 4th, there are the 3 dragons, 3 physics, psychic and dark, and the creation pokemon (again the strongest of this gen), and finally left with manaphy, sheimi, and hiidoran, which is quite independent and not related to either, of course one of this, most prob manaphy is the phantom pokemon, but it could be sheimi too, and that leaves hiidoran. Oh as for regigigas, no doubt it is related to last gen, and which leads me to guess that hiidoran will have its counterpart in future gen? just a speculation :), any idea?

Leaving SPPF! G'bye!
You are right..

But shiemi may be the Mew/celebi/jirachi counterpart, and manafi may just be together with its baby form..

But that doesn't explain hiidoran..

hiidoran is probably linked with no pokemon in particular, but maybe its like a sun pokemon for the previous gen with kyogre, groudon, and rayquaza...

I dunno, both sheimi and manaphy have the same base stats as mew, celebi, and jirachi,
i think hidoran might have be fullt fleshed out in gen 5...
plus, remember that they don't have 500 pokemon in the game,
don't you think they might have some hidden in the programming for a sequel:)

If there was anything hidden in the coding, I think someone would've found it by now.

maybe its not legendary~

dratini et al. and tyranitar et al. came AFTER their generation's legendary trios..
who's to say hiidoran isnt justa one of version of that?
Although it is a one off. Perhaps it like a snorlax~

oh well. What it seems most to be like is they've packed it full of legendaries for the hell of it. Darkai, Sheimi (although I love it), fione and hiidoran are largely unneeded imo.

Rane

Really?
Sheimi does seem to be the new Mew counterpart, as Jirachi and Celebi was in their respective generation although I'm quite surprised that they decided to include not one but two straight 100 Base stats pokémon in this game. And that neither is Psychic type. Manafi has a pre-evo so our best guess is that the Mew of 4th Gen is Sheimi but I'm confused as to why they didn't give Sheimi the psychic type. Oh well, it's never as fun to follow a pattern.

I would say Manafi is cause he looks like Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, and there is a movie for him, and they already have a grass type(Celebi) while they haven't done a water type yet(Manafi), but seriously, D/P has way too many legenadries to counterpart with the older ones, but there are some counterparts such as Diauga,Parukia, and Giradina = Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza

I think Hiidoran could just be one of those one-off type, like Snorlax. It does have a gender, but, Latios and Latias broke that legendaries-don't-have-genders rule.

Rane

Really?
Yeah, that one's pretty obvious. But I mean, 1st Gen had 5 Legendaries.

Articuno
Zapdos
Moltres
Mewtwo
Mew

2nd Gen had 6.

Raikou
Entei
Suicune
Ho-oh
Lugia
Celebi

3rd Gen saw the light of 10(!) Legendaries.

Regice
Regirock
Registeel
Latios
Latias
Groudon
Kyogre
Rayquaza
Deoxys
Jirachi

4th Gen has like 13!

Yukishii
Emuritto
Agunomuu
Diaruga
Parukia
Giradina
Hiidoran
Sheimi
Darkrai
Kureseria
Manafi
Regigas
Aruseus

I can't say wether or not Fione should be counted into this list.

My point is, the Leggy list grows by every game.

It does. Wow! It's kind of sick. I'd like to see more emphasis on regular Pokemon...

This is just a thought and might be wierd, but I think it looks a little little micro bit like Metagross???

Rane

Really?
Hiidoran? Uhh, it looks more like Rhyhorn or Lairon to me.

I thought of that problem too, so that't why I pressed the ''post reply'' button. I guess Hiidoran is an individual and a new calibur legendary.
I think both Manafi and Sheimii are Mew/Celebi/Jirachi counterparts.

...I think it's safe to say though, that we know which legendaries have the powers that truly matter, and that really affect things. Whather you choose to draw your opinions from the game or the anime is your own choice, but the anime, in my opinion, usually portrays the legendaries quite well in the movies~

I would like it in next gen if there were 1 or 0 legendarys, so it gives us a chance to use others.

Well, I for one can't really figure out the purpose of Hiidoran in the game. I mean, wave a picture of it infront of anyone who didn't know what it was and they'd say that it was just the 2nd/final evolution of some ground/rock pokémon.

qfe~

it's certainly not the sort of pokemon you'd expect to be legendary

legendaries should LOOK powerful, or else look totally small and kind, which makes their power even more mysterious~

shame really, because Hiidoran would have made a good fire/steel final evo~

(perhaps we don't like it because it sounds like Nidoran)

Rane

Really?
Heh, yeah maybe. I was thinking the exact same thing (about looking powerful). Then again, looks can be deceiving.
