However, in the event that Lucario only gets Mega Evolution, it won't be quite enough to give it an ace card with G-Max Pikachu being a thing, and the games won't do a third version because the DLC was the third version part. Even if there are new forms to use in Pokemon Legends Arceus, it's hard to see Lucario being the ace when we're already promised a fight between Pikachu and Charizard (this being an alleged worldwide tournament simply can't have Ash win the big matchup with some other Pokemon other than Pikachu).

...Also, Pikachu has hogged a tremendous amount of spotlight that it's a bit random to make an ace this far.

but their rivalry was still there, and I remember saying a new form as Greninja did rather than a Mega Evolution.

Great episode. I liked that it actually acknowledged Ash having the Aura powers. Pikachu freaking out in the Pokemon Centre reminded me of Ash in Ignorance is Blissey! Riolu's personality was unusual for a baby Pokemon, but then again, we've seen the evil Togepi and Paul's Elekid before.

Actually, his Elekid was sort of weird. While a baby, it was pretty rash. As an Electabuzz, it wouldn't look so out of place in Ash's team because it behaved rather friendly but still was completely loyal to Paul even as an Electivire.

Why there can't be two rivalries though?
You have Sun and Moon with two different rivalries, Torracat VS Incineroar and Dusk Lycanroc VS Midnight Lycanroc.

And more than that too. Pikachu and Tapu Koko and Rowlet and Decidueye. All of Ash's main 4 had rivals. And they were all resolved at the league. What a league.
