I realize that FR/LG and R/S/E take place at the same time in different regions, and that G/S/C takes place in the future, but where is D/P in the timeline? The reference of the Red Gyarados implys that it takes place during the same time G/S/C takes place, but it that correct? Just curious. ^_^

Well, you can get a three staged electric pokemon right at the start of the game, I guess thats a refference... I don't speak Japanese, so I only notice things like this. Also, theres loads of babies and evolutions, same as Johto. (and for the electric pokemon, I mean Mareep and Korinku)

The patterns you are noticing have nothing to do with the time period that the game takes place. I do however agree it takes place in the same time.

I think I read that Prof. Oak was in this game aswell, is that true? If so, a Green cameo would have been nice.

Well, Coronis said that a guy says about a sleeping Silver pokemomn in the bottom of the sea and a rainbow pokemon that is on top of a huge tower. Lugia an Ho-oh respectively.

I made a whole thread explaining what happened in each gen and their respective timeline, but its old now. I think I'll make a new one when DP comes out in english when I get more info.

Sinnoh journy probably starts when your character in GSC is in Mahogany

It has to be like 5 years after g/s/c becaus ethe red gyarados has to pass massive distance to get to sinnoh, and the giant mountain and stuff. OK, maybe not 5 years but still, not the exact time with gsc.

Maybe during the kanto adventure in GSC is when it takes place. Then again rumors travel fast so maybe around mahogany-Blackthorn is when DP starts.

Probably during the Kanto part of GSC since Jasmine was there, and oak too! Oak probably came there after GSC guy got all 16 badges, then oak visited his old friend professor Nanakamodo in Sinnoh

I think it is in the same timeline as GSC. Why? Well, on TV, there is the announcement of the red gyarados, which happens around Mahogany in Johto. Second, Jasmine gives waterfall to you, and that's a Johto reference. And the fact that there are not many references to hoenn or kanto leave johto by process of elimination.

Thats why I think its in the Kanto part of GSC, since Jasmine has to have a little time to travel

Good Point. I know that geography-wise, johto is closer to shinou than hoenn and kanto. But I still think that its around mahogany. Jasmine could have easily taken a train or ferry, immediately after her loss at the gym. And if it did take a while, I doubt it would be so long as to be in the Kanto part of Johto.
