Ho-Oh Related Question (Anger quickly rising.)

Ok, I am on the verge of becoming incredibly angry. On the main website in the Spinoff Pokedex it says that Ho-Oh has a 99.9% chance of joining your party. I just fought him for the first time ever with a party adding up to two points of size (Zangoose and Flygon), as I lay the final blow (Took two rounds to bring him down, Swords Dance then Linked False Swipe and Slash, both critted.) I get excited... Then surprised when he doesn't join my party, then INFURIATED. Have I lost my only chance to get into Western Cave and recruit a incredibly powerful Pokemon due to bad intel on Serebii's behalf? (If yes, insert profanity here.)

Yes, my leader Zangoose laid the final blow. So Ho-Oh appears as many times as it takes to recruit him?...

Edit: I just checked, I do have the Rainbow Peak friend area.

You have it??? Why does Ho-oh not join then? I'm sorry but I can help you no further. It might be a glitch if all the requirements are met.

Lucario Rox is right. You can only get Ho-oh the second time you clear that dungeon. The same goes for Raikou, Entei, Suicune & Mewtwo.

It's probably because defeating ho-oh is a mini story line quest, so that's why you have to go there again to get it, but with Lugia, it isn't part of the story so you get it first go.

I thought that you had to be a higher level but that info is incorrect. The only time youy need a HIGH level is too INCREASE your recruit rate. But it doesn't have to be higher than the Pokemon you're battling. For example the only reason you need a Pokemon of Lv90+ to befriend Kecleon isn't because they're Lv90 (Although they are) but because of their low recruit rate. Provided the recruit rate is over 0 (0.1%-100%) then you can recruit a Pokemon no matter what level you are. I've befriended Ho-oh on my Red version as a level 47 Charizard so you don't have to be Lv50 or higher. And remmeber if you're Lv30+ Ho-oh is 100% :) Or with Friend Bow.

Yeah sorry i'll elaborate: You have to be higher than level 50 BECAUSE Ho-Oh is level 50.

You don't need a certain rank or level to befried any Pokemon! The only reason you have to be X level or higher to befriend certain Pokemon is because of their RECRUIT RATE! It has nothing to do with their level! Unless someone provides a link that links me to an OFFICIAL source that says "You msu tahev X rank to befriend X Pokemon or that you must be a higher level than the Pokemon you're trying to befriend" then the fact is you DON'T.
