Home network help

Who flung poo?
I recently setup our home network using two WinXP systems. Everything was fine and dandy for a day or two then suddenly I'm receiving this message on the host machine: Limited or no connectivity. Then I'm no longer able to access anything outside the LAN with the client.

I've checked ipconfig /all and things look good on both machines. (I'd output this to a log, but I'm not sure how.) The machines are able to ping one another, but the client can't access anything outside of the LAN.

I've tried everything that I can think of; I've tried static IP's and assigning IP's through DHCP. I've even gone as far as changing cables. One thing that troubles me is that the host machine list unknown under node type while the client list hybrid. I even tried a regedit to correct this on the host.

I'm up a creek with this at the moment and seeking some serious assistance.

That happens to me when something happens to my internet software. Also, try turning the cable modem off then back on. Sorry if it doesn't help.

Thank you fellows for you suggestions. The solution managed to be astoundingly simple; I had just overlooked it several times. I'm sharing a dial-up connection and I had forgotten to click the box to do so. I must've looked at it at least 20 times before I noticed.... arr. But thanks once again.
