Lucky Egg only works on a certain Pokemon, I think, so replace it with Leftovers or Shell Bell.

Lucky Egg boosts the experience of any pokemon carrying it. You're thinking of Lucky Punch, which sucks.

Sheesh... You think he would be that stupid to put something on Houndoom that says:

"Raises the critical-hit ratio of CHANSEY"

No, Lucky Egg works on everything! Although I remember reading that somebody put Metal Powder on Latios... As soon as I find it, I'm gonna put it in my LOLable spot! If anyone knows where it is, please give me the link!

The staple moveset for Houndoom is:

Houndoom@Leftovers
Modest (+Sp.Atk, -Atk) or Timid (+Speed, -Atk)
Flamethrower
Solarbeam
Crunch
Sunny Day

You've got two powerful STAB moves, augmented by Houndoom's base 110 Sp.Atk. There's Sunny Day to weaken Water-type moves while further strengthening Flamethrower, and Solarbeam is for the Rock/Ground/Water types that can kick Houndoom's butt.

Fire Blast is an option over Flamethrower, but I think accuracy and consistency is better than power at a reduced accuracy.

You could always opt for some physical attacks on Houndoom, such as Shadow Ball and the like, but this set works better IMO.

Nature-wise... I'd go Modest for the Sp.Atk boost, but you'll face some problems with Dugtrio and Aerodactyl for starters, which are alot faster than Houndoom. Still you won't be facing many of those in Emerald, so Timid is a viable option too.

No, that isn't the standard
The standard is
~ Flamethrower / Fire Blast
~ Hidden Power Grass / Pursuit
~ Crunch
~ Beat Up / Will-O-Wisp

@ Leftovers / Petaya Berry
Timid/Modest nature

Save the weather changing to exeggutor

Nicely copied and pasted from Smogon. (http://www.smogon.com/advance/houndoom/strategy I believe) You DO know that website's movesets are generally for the metagame?

Fire Blast lacks the accuracy and consistency of Flamethrower. Pursuit is better in the metagame where opponents are more likely to switch. Beat Up? Riiiight...

I can see the validity of having HP Grass and WoW... but seeing as how HP Grass is difficult to acquire unless you wanna breed extensively for it, Solarbeam is the safer option.

Plus the moveset I suggested should be more than effective against the majority of the RPGs opponents, which IS what the set is suggested for.

If we WERE discussing the metagame, then I would opt for Smogon's set. (prob Flamethrower, HP Grass, Crunch, WoW) But as we're not, Sunnybeaming Houndoom > 'Standard' Houndoom ingame, IN MY OPINION.

usally HPIce/grass is used for the 4th move but in Ingame its
just better if you stick to Beat Up since apparently is does alot
in the BF..

Hello? *knocks head* this is ingame, so you don't need standards.

Just go with the Sunny Day/FT/Solar Beam/Crunch set that wqas suggested. Works great in-game AND SD helps TWO of it's moves

I have the urge to say you can lut HP Dragon over SD and a filler over SB to cover every Pokemon in the entire game, but I think it's best to stick to the Sunnybeamer set.
