Anyone else like this series?
I was just re-reading it and ended up remembering some of the things I didn't like. Which for the most part all happened near the end.
Overall, though, I liked it.

How long did things go for anyway? Not the series itself, but the time scheme it set itself in.

I just downloaded it and I heard great things about it. I'm looking forward to reading it. Hopefully Viz liscense it for their SJ manga collection since it obvisously is.

Overall a good manga with many unique and memorable characters.

ahh, Houshin Enju. I absolutely loved the characters with my personal favorite of Taikoubou. I just love his silly faces and how the artist would draw him rather stupidly at times, along with his personality and what not.

As for the time scheme, well like 75% of the cast (probably exaggerating here) are immortal aren't they, in that they slowly age. So you'd have to look for the characters who are normal and age at a normal pace.

One page mentioned a king being held prisoner for like eleven years and you see him finally get out and what not. I think that character goes from like middle-aged to his death. So, it probably takes place over a couple of decades.

For some reason I'm reminded of when Taikoubou "died" and the credits started rolling on the manga and everyone's like "what? the manga's over now?!" and the next chapter started off with a completely different phony manga. The people watching are just you've gotta be kidding me. Yes I loved that chapter, made me laugh so hard. [/SPOIL]

Ryu Fujisaki has another short manga after Houshin Engi. It has even more (random) funny moments. I can't say enough of its randomness, but good for laughs. Too bad he cannot follow up with another great series. Waqwaq is a failure.

ZOMG, I read this manga =O. I didn't know that Fujisaki also did that one. Anyways, it's called Sakuratetsu Taiwahen. The group Aku-Tenshi finished scanlating that one. Here's their site: http://www.aku-tenshi.com/index.php
