Sorry if it has been done before, but I did not see anything when I searched. If it has been made, a mod can delete this. Anyhoo, how did your favorite pokemon, acutally become that? For me, Haunter became my favorite WAY back in blue, when I was searching around the Pokemon Tower. I had just gotten the Silph Scope, and who was the first ghost pokemon that I see? Why Haunter of course! I thought it looked insanely awesome, so I caught it right away. I trained it like mad after that. But even then, it wasnt my favorite (at the time, Blastoise was). That is, until the "Tower of Terror" episode went on T.V. Haunter's personality was perfect, exactly like mine, and looked even MORE insanely awesome then he did in the game. I loved the way he ditched Ash and came back and acted all innocent. Ever since that, Haunter has been used by me, and is ALWAYS on my team. Well, post your own stories.

Yeah. I liked that episode too...My favorite was Gengar but he appeared way before that episode was shown. I think it was in the first one where it shows Gengar battling with an Onix...Unfortunately, I couldn't get him on my GB because you needed to trade Haunter to get it and I didn't have any friends to trade with...Even with the appearance of new ghost pokemon Gengar still remains my favorite...

Torkoal

Torkoal is good. But, it makes Magcargo (one of my other favorties) look twice as bad...

Typhlosion, my first pokemon ever (well technically cyndaquil was my first).
I remember buying a Nintendo power (after I had bought silver) and I saw Typhlosion in the magazine. I remember thinking... "wow i hope this cyndaquil evolves into that!".. low and behold, it did.

gee that's swell
Ah, the story of my beloved Torchic :p

I remember getting my Sapphire version, I didn't know of a single 3rd generation Pokemon. I flipped on the game came across Poochenya, and I randomly picked Torchic. That became my first 3rd generation Pokemon [Now a lv.100 Blaziken] I eventully ended up thinking it was really cute, and I had already liked fire types, so I picked Torchic as my favorite, and when I watched Pokemon Advanced, I loved it even more, so the longer I like it, the more I love it.

Torchic rocks!!!!

Absol. Well to put it in a simple manner, I kind fell in love with it by luck. ^^;; I saw the episode it was in, and at that time I was obsessed with the Yin and Yang thing. Although when I looked Absol up in the Wikipedia, I knew it would be my favorite of all time. I see Absol as a friend who can understand me. Because what it says about Absol, I can understand. And the whole 'misunderstood' thing, my life's story. :p

Hyper Chibi Absol

The Dark Goddess
I feel in love with Absol because he (the one in the 6th movie) was a bad-***. =3 He's so cute and cool! X3

I have many favorites. n_n; A lot of them I like, simply because they look cool or cute, like Umbreon and Mew (I'm really a dog person though). For a while I only liked Lucario because he looked neat. It was like "Hey! A Pokemon-Anubis in blue shorts... fun!" But I didn't know anything about his personality, so he wasn't quite on my list of favorite Pokemon.

But I'm a very impatient person, and I couldn't wait for the 8th movie to be dubbed, so I read and watched a bunch of spoilers, revealing his personality. Before watching the spoilers I expected him to be happier, and only a little bit, if at all, confused. I was pleasantly surprised to find he's quite the opposite though. So I guess he was added to my favorites list just last week. XD

Well, that's sort of hard. I'll break it into games.
R/B/Y: Vaporeon; it was so cute! It also wasn't too shabby. ;134;

G/S/C: Houndoom! Fire and dark? Plus it looked really cool. ;229;

R/S: Absol, but their defense sucks. ;359;

FR/LG: I'm really loving Lapras right now and my really fast Raichu. ;026;

Meowth was my favorite because I got my two kittens the same year Pokémon came out, so I was obsessed with cats. =^.^=

Magikarp was a favorite because I was out in the backyard once, reading a book on Pokémon. My brother came out, looked at me, and asked if he was now standing in Magikarp poo. So Magikarp became the Pokémon full of humor for me.

And Flygon and Aerodactyl because I gave a Flygon and an Aerodactyl the nickname of Xenocide. It was love at first sight. o_O

But the other ones I like are just from looks, power, and use in my fics.

My favorite Pokémon is Metagross.

When I was making a team for the Battle Tower in Ruby, I found the level 50 Metagross I got from Colloseum in my box. Since I was lazy at that time, I just picked it so I didn't have to EV train.
With the attacks Earthquake, Shadow Ball, Metal Claw and Psychic, it really kicked ***. My other two Pokémon were a Starmie who also wasn't EV trained, but with about the best attacks possible for the Battle Tower, and a Smeargle whom I used for Baton Passing Tail Glows over to Starmie. Together, they got around 35 wins. But Metagross was the best out of them.
Then, when I was making a Frontier team on Emerald, I bred around 25 Beldum eggs. One of them hatched into a shiny Beldum.
Now, Metagross is my lead Pokémon in every Frontier facility except for the Pyramid and the Tube. With Meteor Mash and a Choice Band, this guy owns hard.

Farfetch'd! After receiving a poster displaying every single base set one pokemon card (ages ago, when there was only one set of cards), I saw Farfetch'd and was like 'omfg, he's soooo cute!'

Then I went through a crazy Farfetch'd faze, and was never the same again.

Not at all. Torkoal is my favourite Hoenn Pokemon. When I first went throguh Fiery Path (is that the name?) the first Pokemon I saw was Torkoal. Sadly, I didn't have any Pokeballs and didn't catch it while I was there, and regretted it. I then saw it again when Flannery used it, but for some reason I didn't go back X_X. During my next playthrough I caught a Torkoal and found out it wasn't amazing in battle, but it was good enough for me.

One of my favourite Johto Pokemon is Murkrow. I would never have thought of even looking at Murkrow if it wasn't for my friend, and he persuaded me into using it. It was okay in battle (in-game at least) an I LOVED using it. I also loved the design, it seemed very original compared to the other birds.

Pikachu.
The first Pokemon I ever saw.
I missed nidorino and gengar (I think) as I missed the biggening.
The moment I saw it well..... OoOoO.... Awesome! Cute! Electric! Cool! <(^_^)>

I got the strategy guide for RBY when it first came out, and immediately fell for Machop and would get it at any cost. When I got it, and finally evolved it, Machamp became a fave too.

Another one was Victreebel. No particular reason why, but it just ended up in my team and kicked ***, good enough for me.

Umbreon: I also got the GSC stategy guide and I wanted a Dark type in my team. Thing is, I could only get Umbreon before the Elite Four. This, combined with the fact that I found Umbreon and loved it sooo much, made me start using one.

Lanturn was oddly enough, a filler at first, but I knew the type combo would be useful. I used it in the game, and realised it OWNED. Thus, I like it. However, I have so many favourites that I can't be bothered to explain them all, but most were experimental in the games and then me getting attached to them.

Victreebel for me too, because I got red when it first came out and no one was around to trade with. When my friend got blue like six months later, the first trade was an oddish for a bellsprout, and bellsprout evolved and victreebel remains my favourite. ^^

Because I love gardening and sunflowers fills half of my garden.
Well, I like it ingame because it has a good sunny-beaming moveset without using any TM except Hidden Power, so I think its a very good grass Pokemon.

Combusken.
"Woah, a karate chicken? How awesome is that?"
So long story short, it was just a case of liking the pokémon at first sight. But from there, I got more and more into Combusken, and saw it for the truely unique pokémon that it is. Interesting type combination, a plethora of awesome attacks at it's disposal, and a kickass (yet freaking adorable) design.

But in some cases, I'm usually drawn in via a pokémon's animé personna. Once I actually see the character in action I'm able to judge it more accurately than from the Sugimori stills. Wobbuffet is a good example. I never really thought much of him until his debut in the show. And well, after that he then bacame a solid favourite of mine~
