• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

How disappointed would you be if the Pokemon Anime ended?

Basic question.

How disappointed/upset would you be if the show actually stopped airing/stopped making new episodes?

I personally would be extremely disappointed considering I grew up with the show and maintained a favouritism towards it, if it stopped I would obviously move on easily but it'd still be a damn shame if it ended.

Opinions?

Preferrably no straight up 'yes/no' answers please, leave a reason why etc.

Oh, u mad bro?
Disappointed? Hell, I'd welcome it.

At the rate it is going now, I'm surprised it hasn't ended already. I guess it has become "too big to fail" like other kids series.

It depends. If by ending you mean by it getting a final episode and a closure to Ash's story, I wouldn't be dissapointed. Maybe surprised the producers decided do this and I was alive to see it haha.

As much as I like the anime, I wouldn't mind in letting it go as long as it has a proper ending.

Now, if by ending it means suddenly stop airing or be canceled with no real reason, I'd be a huge dissapointment.

Haha, like I need to worry about this, Pokemon will never end...ever...ever...

But if it does, then depending on how the ending was done I'd either be sad it's over but glad at the same time to have it concluded, or I'll just be annoyed that it ended off badly.

If it just gets canceled or they have a rather poor ending then that's where the annoyance will come. But if they have a nice enough ending in my eyes then I'd be at the bitter-sweet moment.

Although I wouldn't find it unlikely if Pokemon outlives me...can't see how I would feel at that moment as I'd be dead but it sure doesn't sound pleasant.

Overall, it depends on the situation, I for sure would be sad to see it go no matter what, I enjoy the series and it's also sad to lose something you like, that being said it is just a show so I would just be crying for a month...maybe two :p

This, basically. I grew up with the anime, like a lot of fans, and while I would be sad to see it end if they gave everyone a good sendoff I'd also be happy (if that even makes sense...).

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
I think at this point I'd be more than happy if the show got a real ending rather than going on for another 10-20 years.

The show has already gone on for 15 years and has 750 episodes, its more than enough time to follow the adventures of a single character. If Best Wishes was the last saga I'd be fine with it.

Hell yeah I would be disappointed! Especially if the story ended stupidly and they never told us what happened to Ash or did he do what he wanted.

Pokemon will be like the simpsons and go on forever. The simple thing to do if you don't like the anime is to not watch it, not ask for it to end.

But yeah, the anime is not going to end anytime soon. If anything the Unova region has brought life back into the show.

Well if it ended suddenly, that would be a bit of a shock, since we do expect a finale. So yeah, I would be disappointed, but only for that reason. Since I don't care much for the anime anymore, I wouldn't mind if it ended.

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
What? No way! BW is almost like a reboot of the franchise. I would've preferred something like DP for a finale, where Ash was was at his peak of maturity, intelligence, and strength.

Well if BW wraps up with a Champion league and the downfall of Giovanni/TR, it would have a good ending.

We know Iris/Cilan will likely leave anyway as well as all the rivals so there's not much to say there. Besides I'd rather Cilan go then see him wind up like Brock.,

With the way things are going, do you think they'll let Ash win the league and kill off Team Rocket now only to end the series Cyber? Team Rocket hasn't even been shown in gaps at a time and Ash, well let's say he's got alot of Pokemon but everyone else around him has stronger Pokemon. They needed to end the saga after an awesome series like DP was over, not end it when a crappy series like BW.

I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand i would be glad to see anime coming to an end with Ash and everyone getting proper closure giving series decent send of.

However i would be also sad to see such long running and great anime closing down after all this years with who generations of kids grew up playing valuable part of their childhood. I would miss prospect of Ash traveling to new regions, with new pokemon, people and places being explored. I would miss all those fun characters not being seen anymore , both older and new ones which used to travel , all those new pokemon designs games come up with and in general fresh and entertainment value this show brings.

While pokemon was never known for deep and complex plot with writing not being top of creme, i have to say this anime does its job well in keeping people interestd having certain relaxing and fun tone to it .

We know Iris/Cilan will likely leave anyway as well as all the rivals so there's not much to say there. Besides I'd rather Cilan go then see him wind up like Brock.,

If he continues to be treated like its case now in Unova, i fail to see how he could end up like Brock. Character staying for longer period of time isnt bad thing if he is properly treated being nice to see someone developed more with new things being explored about it.

In my opinion, Cilan should go. Not because he's a bad character nor because he staying would ruin him but just because I think its character already did its "job" in the series by showing a new light in the "third wheel". I'd like next gen, we get the trainer character to travel alongside Ash just for a change.

But that's for another thread. *runs back to the track*

It makes sense to me ;)

While it's sad seeing characters we grew up with having a closure, it's a joy the possibility of seeing how they end their adventures and what they've accomplished.

But Cilan is actually using his Pokemon and being involved more than Brock. I don't think ending the anime because of Cilan would have anything to do with anything.

I wouldn't be disappointed if it ended with a final episode because then we would get proper closure to the anime.
I would be disappointed if they just cancelled the anime though because most of the character's haven't got a proper closure yet imo.
