Go to Phenac City in PokeCenter (downstairs), link up the cable and talk to Nurse and turn on the GBA and you're ready to go! For FireRed to enable to trade, needs to beat Elite Four, I think.

Yeah, only in XD you have to complete the game, in Fire-Red you have to do that Ruby Sapphire thing. - you know where you have to find the sapphire and ruby?

Yeah, For FR/LG, get Sapphire or Ruby (stones) and go to Island 1 that'll enable it to trade with Colo/XD/R/S/E. For XD, needs to complete the story mode, yeah.
