How do the Gym badges change under your username?

I figured it is rank cause i used to have brock, but now its Misty, does it change by posts made, or does it change by how long u are registered?

Also how many are there and what are they, Thanks.

It changes by your posts, except for mods and above. For a list of ranks, go here:
