how do you do soft reset to get a shiny starter?

i really need to know because wen it comes out in US i want a shiny starter, and i would really appreciate if someone told me how to "soft reset". Thanks in advance.;munchlax;

L+R+A+B in D/P.

By the way, you automatically get raided by Starly/Mukurus when you enter the lake where you open the suitcase, so save outside the entrance.

X is the replacement to Start and Y is the replacement of Select, but you use Start and Select for soft resetting.

So you get a shiny stater/legendary that way or is that just so you restart untill you do?

You have the same chance of getting a shiny as you do in any other pokemon. This is just used for legendaries and starters.

I was making sure it was just a faster way to reset and nothing more.
