How do you guys like the game so far?

It’s pretty fun and addicting when catching pokemon but good lord is the beginning so annoying. That one blonde girl just never shuts up and keeps going on and on .

Yeah I had negative thoughts of the game firsthand before buying it but so far it's pretty fun. Yeah I agree that the tutorial part of the game is SOOOO long, I just want to do my own thing, leave me alone Taunie.

Here's the issue with the tutorial and early game.

Technically the tutorial ends once you get to Hotel Z and then you're actually just playing the game.

In my experience this was done around a 1-2 hours.

I've seen complaints where it has lasted twice as long and I realize the issues. For me, I just did what was asked and followed where I was suppose to go, leaving exploration to a point where I knew I'd have more freedom to do so. A lot of folks on the other hand chose to go after every nook and cranny to explore things, only to be told they can't, yet continously trying to do so even though the game tells you that you can't.

I think a solution to this is if up to Emma's quests, there was actual physical blockades in your way to guide you and that overworld items were turned off to not entice players.

The game becomes increasingly fun to play the more I play it, and thank the GODS for it, because yes. That tutorial is awful.

Outside of that, I am having an absolute blast playing this game, and I love just how many stories are woven into it. The missions feel very episodic, which is what I like in an RPG. Furthermore, I checked my playtime earlier, and I've already racked up 40 hours. This is the first time I've reached 40 hours without finishing the story. I didn't even do that with Scarlet & Violet!

While Legends: Z-A may not have the best story in the series (that title still goes to Black & White), it definitely has the most fun and engaging story.

Pretty good but.

Wild pokemon can block your balls from working if they break too many of them. (This happened to a Eevee hidden on a roof. I had to close the game twice)
No actual evil villain Team.
Lack of returning named characters.
Recycled idea of a female electric streamer (Iono > Canari)
Enemy moves can outspeed your moves before a attack goes through
Continuous Poison damage every 3 seconds while you are walking after battles (i thought we were done with overworld damage crap like this after Diamond and Pearl) Now you need a enormous stock of full heals since Full Restores are not cheap.
Mega Greninja Stone is event exclusive. If you want a new playthrough, then you can't get it again.

I actually like her. The missions are not that long at all.

But Nemona is a lot worse, she is stalking your whole progress and frequently wants to battle anyone she sees.
Without having to do the rank battles again

The Kalos stones are going to be on repeat as stated in the fine print of their events
How will that work then be 400 or 500 Mega Shards from Quasartico HQ or 100.000 like the ones in the Stone Emporium in a update?

It’s because you don’t buy the Mega Stones for the Kalos Starters, instead you have to go online and do rank battles in the battle royal and make it all the way to rank K and after doing that you will get one of the Kalos starters Mega stones depending on the current season.

Right now if you do it this season you will get Greninja’s Mega Stone and if you do it next season you will get Delphox’s Mega Stone and the season after you will get Chesnaught’s Mega Stone.

This will be repeated at some point.

pardon for the confusion, I was continuing your sentence.
"then you can't get it again.....Without having to do the rank battles again"

what Shadowforce says is correct

Yes and it is still a potential problem depending on when they rotate into the game again. Making them very expensive would be better. Grinding a ton of money or Mega Shards is no problem with a bit of determination.
You can break shards really early without the game stopping you. Battle Zone money and finding nuggets and rare items to sell for cash is a bit more diffult.
Also if you lose too many points in ranked battles you get no experience points; nothing. Which can be infuriating.

The railroading before you get Emma's three quests was a bit annoying but the game becomes very enjoyable once you are let off the rails. Overall gameplay loop is quite addictive (generally catching, quests and item finding by day, Battle Zone by night) even if the Battle Zone is mostly for getting funds for clothes. Some Wild Zones have night only spawns so it is great you can use benches to skip to that, why does Scarlet/Violet not have this feature?

Yeah this was my experience. Narratively the game ends the tutorial at Hotel Z but gamplay wise I very much consider the point up to you get Emma’s quests the tutorial and my main issue with it was as you said that I tried to explore after every bit of story progression only to be told over the phone that I couldn’t if I steered slightly off the beaten path. It left a sour taste since at first I thought the turtorial was extremely short by Pokemon standards only to realize that the game had no intention of letting me explore on my own yet. Some sort of visible indicator of where you’re actually allowed to go or even just teleporting you from scene to scene during the section would have made it way less frustrating since I don’t really think it lasts that long if you do as you’re told. The game giving you the illusion of an open city to explore while in reality keeping you on a really tight leash could have definitely been handled better.

On a related note I found it kind of amusing that this is the only time the game does this. There are several other instances in the game where the characters stress that you’re supposed to be pressed for time(like during the Rust Syndicate debt section or Jacinthe’s tournament) but you can put off those as long as you want and do whatever else instead with no issue.

Legends Arceus had it but including far more times of day. But in Z-A you can at least literally return to Battle Zones to fight for money *evil grin*

I found a oddity: During the battle zones one trainers spawned on a rooftop higher than you can get.
There were no roof slopes to get further near her on the tops and the time ran out and before i could trigger a fight. Rotom Glide can't help you get there either. Is this common ?

It's solid. Some of the wild Pokémon are a bit insane in level, finding stuff over level 30 when you're not even level 15 is kind of nuts. They probably should move the tips somewhere else than the loading screens, the loading screens are only visible for like a second and nowhere long enough to actually read the advice.

I’m enjoying the game so far, even if I wish they had let me explore from the get go. I’m saddened to see that the trend of not being to enter a large amount of buildings is continuing, specially since you could enter more in the original Lumiose. I’m enjoying taking pictures and making new outfits a lot. So far the characters have been more enjoyable and interesting in all fronts (design and dialogue) than those of Scarlet/Violet. Looking forward to see how the story plays out.

I'm starting to warm up to this game, I was complaining at first but I'm really happy to be free from the tutorial. I like the gameplay loop of do side quests, catch Pokemon, then night time battles. Bois the Heracross is literally my goat and has carried me so far. I also caught an alpha Bellsprout and fully evolved it. He's so huge compared to the rest of my Pokemon lol, I feel like he could swallow me whole.

The game is getting pretty good now but getting high level is making me nervous with the battle against Ivor.

And two of the things make me really annoyed, with One of the worst ones is finding the Mega Hawlucha location. High on a roof but finding the elevator is a chore.
Also finding a way to beat the last jump to get Froakie, the rolling never worked for me so i had to wait until you get the Rotom-Glide after you beat Mega Beedrill. What a rotten way to make a pokemon difficult way to get.
