How do you tell if it's shiny? Any point to shiny?

I cought one that I think may be shiny (before the battle, little gold stars flew off it). When I send it into battle, nothing happens though. Is it shiny? Any point to having a shiny pokemon?

If gold stars fly off of it, then yes, it is shiny. You can also tell by its portrait - is the back light? Also, if the writing on its number is gold, then it is.

Nope, no benefits for it being shiny. :p

Shiny pokemon are the same as regular pokemon in this generation, the only difference is that they are a different colour.

But congrats on getting one! What pokemon did you catch?
