I think the writers are possibly making Lucario Ash’s strongest Pokemon for the world championships.
No, writers will make this team become strongest, not only Lucario. Just like Alola team.

dude has it won anything big or gotten a filler episode for itself
I will be honest. To judge that he's so weak just because he got only two damn episodes that's the most funny thing for me. Let's wait until the third episode and see if he wins. Only judge after two episodes..... really is very funny.

Gengar will at least have a shining moment when he debuts Gigantamax form.
Him and Lucario were both fairly ignored as a result of the lame 2v2 limitation, now that Ash is starting to do 3v3 they both have more chances at showing up and getting more wins(Which is necessary for both, they both need more. Especially for Lucario if they actually want us to believe he's stronger than Dragonite lmao)

Can we please get the older, old forum back?

Honestly, the Alola-team felt so undeserved.

Meltan evolved into Melmetal without much training and was way too overpowered due to that. Naganadel was a cop-out in every sense, Ash wasn't even there when it evolved. Rowlet was a decent teammember at first but the unavoidable power-creep made him end up as a gimmick-mon which can't be taken seriously.

The only three that made a lick of sense were Torracat (through the power of plot-BS, but at least you could call it a culmination of an character-arc), Lycanroc (it actually had a good track-record in Alola and received enough development to warrant the victories it got) and Pikachu - which honestly didn't surprise for what was basically standard 'Peak-achu'.

Melmetal wasn't overpowered. It basically fought a lot of battles (half really) where it was conveniently too good (ate Hypno's pendulum, pretty much rendered Kukui's random Empoleon useless) rather than being too strong whose only normal showing was the fight against Ryuki but then got screwed by Kukui's Incineroar and Gladion's Haxvally.

The league was basically one huge "sorry for not using Torracat outside getting owned by Incineroar" given all the wins it got...mostly against Pokemon weak to his type.

Sunny D-roc was overused outside the league, though. It got way too much focus.

Melmetal was overpowered. It managed to do enough to Silvally and Incineroar so that others could pick up the wins. We're talking about two of the three seemingly broken pokémon of that series (Silvally, Incineroar, TapuKoko). Even Gladion commented on its 'incredible power'..

Lycanroc wasn't overused. It had the Olivia battle and Nanu battle and rival battles with Gladion. It wasn't overused, SM just didn't have a lot of battles realistically.. It's like how people tend to compare the AG and DP-teams by their league wins and don't understand that one of the two at least had a lot of full battles to itself..

Also, that weird 1v3-condition.. >.>

THIS.

Melmetal and Naganadel were basically a godsend to Ash, Rowlet can't be taken seriously and Litten / Torracat didn't even participate in the Island Challenge. Well, at least Lycanroc was well trained.

You're kind of implying Torracat won against Incineroar with too much help from the others there.

It's a mythical. That was a formality because it's a rare Pokemon. Just as how everyone can't help but wow when Ash uses Naganadel.

Right there is half of the important SM battles with the rest being Pikachu with a little bit of Rowlet. Hell, the Ula Ula Island arc was exclusively just it training (for god's sake, he got two Tapus interested in it, and Pikachu only got one). And if we want to be technical about it, it's gotten more focus even before it got owned by Ash as a wild dog under Kukui.

If there's anything that feels undercooked then it's Pm's imo.
We're nearly 90 episodes in and most of his current team lack any sort of presence let alone have any chemistry with each other.
The worst offender is probably Gengar but the others don't fare much better outside of the fighting types.
Any training they get is largely implied to top it all off.
