How do you think the gender differences in the games will effect the show?

The games always come out before the show premeres and so some of the games features affect the show so how do you think the show (if it does) will implement this important change?

It's already happening. Look at May's Bulbasaur and look at Ash's Bulbasaur. May's is smaller, girlish heart spot on it and it has a femine voice.

Yeah, ok!
The gender differences have been apparent for a while now. The most obvious example being May's Bulbasaur. Her Skitty and Beautifly are most likely girls too.

Ash's Bayleef is a girl. This has been apparent for the last couple of sagas already.

I knew about the Bayleef thing but I never actually noticed the other stuff, I saw it I just didn't pay attention. I feel stupid.

It could be noted that maybe its the anime that influenced the games.

Which is exactly where 2 on 2 battles came from. They've been doing that in the anime back in the 1st season, and the games didn't include them till R/S.

It is also arguable that Natures were added to the games because of the way Pokemon act in the anime. Pokemon all have different personalities in the show, and GameFreak wanted to make this apparent in the games too.

Finally, I believe that tournaments in the anime influenced the Battle Frontier, where you have stuff like the Battle Dome and Battle Tower where you battles lots of trainers. The games have never had a league but just the Elite 4, and finally they're adding all this stuff.

I'm not expecting them to read into it too much, if at all, as in the long run, it's just not beneficial for them to research into all these minute details and change each pokémon accordingly.
Chances are, we will see differences between each gender, but only when it's really necessary. Which I imagine would be a rarity, given that they tend to rely on the voice of a pokémon to distinguish one gender from another. Even when they do feel the need to alter the design of a female, I wouldn't expect them to go by the differences utilised in the games. They'll just change the pokémon in any way they see fit.

But in any case, it would screw up continuity a little. All of Haruka's team barring Munchlax [spoil](and possibly Eevee?)[/spoil] are female, yet are physically identical to their male counterparts.

I'm confused I thought it was Games=/=Anime or something. That means the games can't influence the anime, but....huh?

Combusken and Squirtle come of as male, in my opinion. Torchic and Squirtle are both young, which could explain being feminine. Maybe it's just the Dub that makes them seem male.

Achamo sounded female and acted female. Wakasyamo sounds female.
Zenigame sounds and acts female.
Therefore, they're more than likely female. Sterotypes in pokémon always win the day~

Maybe they'll finally have to call them by gender specific pronouns instead of "it" now. One can hope.

The games can influence the anime (and vice versa), but they don't both necessarily occur in the same reality.

Only small differences, namely voice and personality. Physical appearance differences, such as Wooper's horns, have never been changed based on gender IIRC.

Squirtle only acts 'female' because its young and winy, doesn't it? Torchic acted female because it was young and goofy I thought, and I never noticed a difference in Combusken's voice (at least in the dub).

What about stuff like Foretress? How do you make something like THAT gender specific?
Color, bumpiness, etc.

Pikachu has ALWAYS come off as being male. We've even noticed it carrying some of Kasumi's things during the "Princess Festival" where the guys have to do everything for the girls. o_O

And uh..this has been done WAY before Diamond/Pearl decided to do it. Have we forgotten about all those Pikachu that Satoshi came across when thinking of leaving Pikachu behind? How about the female Butterfree that Satoshi's fell in love with? Heck, even the female Lizardon that Satoshi's fancies is different from the ones over at the Lizardon Valley.
