How does Doduo and Dodrio fly?

Sorry if this was already a topic, but I searched around and didn't see it.
The question came to me a littlewhile back when I was playing LG
So everyone, how do you think Doduo and Dodrio fly?
They have such small wings (if any at all) so how could they take off?

They can use Fly, though. I doubt you can explain a Doduo getting you straight from Pallet Town to Lavender Town by saying, "It hopped there! :B".

It's probably just a mess-up or joke or something.

Apparently they did jump, because iirc the Japanese name for Fly literally means "Sky Jump".

That would be a fun way to travel.
I like to think it sprints and jumps multiple times to get you there.

doduo and dodrio are based of the exticnt FLIGHTLESS bird of Canada(fairly odd parents ftw) so it realy makes no sense y they can fly...NONE!!!1

Well this is a question I was wondering when I played my Crystal (Nostalgia :3). So how do Doduos fly? Everyone apparently said it, they jumped, or ran so fast you feel like flying.

This always irritated me. It's pokedex description even says IT CAN"T FLY!!!

I guess all flying types automatically can learn fly.

Gyarados, Hoppip family, Gligar family, Mantine family, the Bug/Flying types and Skymin can't learn Fly.

Actually, 'sora wo tobu' really does mean (in the context of the games and the sentence) to fly. Sure, the same word, 'tobu', can mean either 'jump' or 'fly', but the term 'sora wo tobu' literally means 'fly (in) the sky'.


Anyway, I've heard that Doduo and Dodrio actually do have wings, but they're hidden under all the furry feathers of their body and seldom use them because they're far more adept at using their legs.

nahh its just one of those things, its a dodo that gamefreak decided to let it take flight, even though it blatantly can't.
