How does Safari Zone work?

What effects do the Actions have? What is the best way to catch a rare Pokemon? (I have problems with Pinsir)

The Pokeblocks attract Pokemon of certain natures. So if you place a Pokeblock in the Pokeblock holding thing, you'll get more of the natures it is based around.

Also, throwing Pokeblocks in battle make the Pokemon easier to keep in battle but harder to catch, and vice versa for rocks. Your best bet, really, is to just keep throwing balls. You'll get something eventually.

If you wanna catch a rare Pokemon without wasting your Safari Zone steps, just find a good patch of grass, and press the D-pad in any direction except the one you're facing. You'll get the Pokemon you want eventually.

Or get an Acro bike and hop on the spot

Another thing that helps is if take two to three steps closer to it. Two is usually your best bet cause if you try getting closer, it will more then likely run away.
