• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

How long were you into Pokemon, and what got you into it?

How long are you into Pokemon, and what got you into it?

Hmmm.....I got into Pokemon pretty late. I was in the 3rd grade, and we were at the school library. There were these bookmarks that showed the Sinnoh starters and legendaries. I got the Dialga one and pretty soon I was hooked.

...I thought that Piplup evolved into Dialga. XD
That was at least three years ago...or four, maybe.

What about you?

*fixed the title

I got into pokemon right when Red and Blue came out. My brother and sister got Red and Blue and I always watched them play, then when Silver and Gold came out, I got one and
loved pokemon from then on...

Received a GameBoy on Xmas couple years ago, but with no f'ing game with it!! So few days later we went to the closest Zellers nearby, and I was wondering what game would've been fun.. Noticed that red dragon-like creature and that blasting-turtle on the covers and just fell in love with what is called now a "Charizard". Ever since, I "evolved" as the generations kept going, so yea, I'm into since the very beginning! A veteran I would say ^^

I've been into Pokemon since 1999 when I was quite young, about 5 years old. (I am 16 now)

So, I've been into it for 11 years. I was pretty much hooked when I saw the anime. As the years went by I got more into the games and less into the anime, which is where I stand now.

The anime got a hook on me too at that time. It was cool seeing Pokémon battling other than seeing pixelized attacks on your GameBoy. Just remember that Pikachu vs Raichu, or Charizard vs Magmar.. and of course, Metapod vs Metapod (EPIC).. can't way much about the recent ones though, except for that 6 on 6 battle between Ash & Paul, and that Grotle vs Rypherior ! Sweet animations out there!

Yeah, i thought Torchic and Mudkip evolved into the box legends when gen 3 details were being released :p.

I was interested in the game by the trading cards, which were a huge craze (and subsequently banned) at my school. Ive being playing since gen 1, although when I got blue, yellow was already out.

I was there from the start, buying both Red and Blue and cards and other merchandise. I liked the show and continue to play the games, owning all of the main games.

I loved it back when I was in Kindergarten and 1st grade, about 2002-ish? Then I took a break (Yu-Gi-Oh obsession XD). In 5th grade (early 2007), I saw Advanced Battle on CN one morning and became obsessed with it again. (Hoenn GF started it!) :)

It was hard catching up because I hadn't understood game mechanics when I was little, so it was like learning what Pokemon was for the first time. xP

Well... I can't specifically even remember what came first for me. The game or the anime? But I believe it was the anime. I watched it everyday before I went to school in second and third grade. It was my incentive for getting up early in the morning and getting ready on time. Then it was the beginning of summer and my 8th birthday and that night I opened a present from my parents revealing the ultimate purple see-through Gameboy color and Pokemon Red. Anyways I spent all summer at a Summer Camp and my friends and I would play it alot. Then when school started again and I was in third grade I played it with classmates after school.

I was interested in Pokemon since the beginning. I remember Nintendo Power had a preview of it in one of their magazines when it came out in Japan. I was reading all about it, and checking out the screen shots and I've been enthralled with the game ever since.

Well, both my parents are military, and my mom got stationed in Germany. I remember having a small assortment of little plush Pokemon, probably from when we were still in the U.S., and I've always loved it since then.

I remember it like it was yesterday. standing in the toy store after red and blue came out. I couldn't decide which version i wanted, so i flipped a coin, heads for red tails for blue. it came out heads and i powered up red for the first time on October 1st, 1998, sometime in the mid-afternoon. even better was November 2nd, 2000 when i got silver for my birthday. i played that game long after the clock said 99:99. after that though i didn't touch another pokemon game for 9 years. looking back i cant remeber why. i guess i had just moved on. then around 5 or 6 months ago i saw that they were remaking gold and silver, so i figured now was better than any time to jump back in and picked up platinum, then soulsilver when it came out. since then i have logged around 250 hours between both versions. It's amazing how incredibly timeless these games are, I grew up and pokemon stayed the same. not much in this world ever does that.

Plus they added a Ghost freaking Dragon, not even the invention of the gameboy surpasses that
