• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.
  • Hi all. We had a couple of reports of people's signatures getting edited etc. in a bad way. You can rest assured this wasn't done by staff and nobody has compromised any of our databases.

However, remember to keep your passwords secure. If you use similar passwords to elsewhere which has been accessed, people and even bots may be able to access your account.

We always recommend using unique passwords, and two-factor authentication if you are able. Make sure you're as secure as possible

With current commercially available technology, they can make about 10,000,000 more.

When Gamefreak start recieving really bad PR about how they are destroying the franchise, then they'll stop. Although if they actually listen to a few fan suggestions for game mechanics then I'd be happy to see several hundred more of the little buggers

As long as fans keep playing and the money keeps on coming in the truck loads, they'll probably keep going.

The fans have no worthwhile suggestions. Game Freak and any company that operates in similar fashion in a similar medium know far better than to start soliciting fans for suggestions, something they have zero need to do anyway because that's what you interview, hire and train a staff for.

"Honey, they're making another generation."
"What is this, the fifty third?"
"Fifty fourth, actually. Look; Blastoise has a sixth evolution now! Serebii says it's going to be Water/Light/Dark/Dragon/Sea Serpent/Godly type!"
"Anything about their names?"
"Nintendo's inventing new minerals so they can call the games them as we speak."

as the funky dude said on the 12th movie, "hundreds.. even thousands of Pokemon". They have so many things still to do, so many animals to be based on and so many made-up pokemon to explore.

I think they will make more and more until the fans get bored and dump the series.I see this won`t happen until the 25th gen.Pokemon is a worldwide phenomanon and won`t stop anytime soon.

Except that they won't interview, hire or train fans unless they live in Japan. We've all heard the saying: If you can't beat them, join them. But if you can't beat them or join them...? Oh well, I'm going to let my creativity run wild anyway.

I can personally see somewhere between 1,500-2,000 Pokémon in the entire official series. I believe the series itself is immortal, though. After they run out of new Pokémon to make, they'll put them to every use possible and milk every last cent out of their creations. If ever, I don't expect the series to end for, literally, decades.

Hope they currently go to only over 500 in order to not break the tradition of the number of Pokemon increased by around 100 (Kanto - 151, Johto - 251, Hoenn - 386, Sinnoh - 493, 5th gen - 5??).

Let it go. Seriously.

With the recent gen 5 additions we're up to a total of 500 Pokemon. When we first started we thought 151 was freaking incredible, and im pretty sure that most of us thought that'd probably be it. But to think we now have 500, and will probably passs the 600 mark, is just mind boggling.

So, how far do you thnik they'll go?

never thought we'd only have 150 as it said often mostly in the anime there were more then 150 pokemonplus ho oh was in the first episode. I alays knew there would be more and I'm happy with as many as they can give us.

Depends on interest shown by Pokemon fans. Still, I am sure they will cross
1000 Pokemon by Gen8 or 9.

Still, the Pokemon Company can't go on for ever though.

The only thing I can see as a possibility to infinite Pokemon is basing all future Pokemon as evolutions on previous gen Pokemon. That way, we might even have infinite Pokemon.

There will still be loads of Pokémon made, but when Sugimori ever stops making new ones, there will still be games made that include all those Pokémon.

I would like to see the end of it, so they stop extracting my moneys lol. But at the same time I wanna see what more creative Pokemon they can come up with! Right now though it doesn't look like they plan on stopping anytime soon.

Well, I think the count should be around 500. If it reaches to be too much, it could be difficult for new people. I've been playing since Yellow up to Emerald and after I completed everything there was to do in most and had the most bad *** team(at the time), I quit and now it seems it will might take a little bit to get my head wrapped around all the new species.

We're at 500 now. Smart money says they probably aren't going to release a new generation of core titles with only 7 new Pokémon.

If it reaches to be too much, it could be difficult for new people.

Disregarding the fact that gathering every single critter hasn't been a defining goal of the games since the 2nd generation or so, it would seem pretty clear that an additional 100+ Pokémon each generation didn't preclude the 2nd, 3rd and 4th generations from selling, hm?

I'm not really sure how anyone can name an arbitrary figure - 500, 750, whatever - in response to the inquiry in this thread and expect it'll stop there.
