How obsessed are you with this game? Most people do so many things to get the perfect team. They do extra stuff like mess about with the EV's and IV's. They breed to get the perfect moveset. They try and catch all 386 pokemon. And so on. I dont mess around with the EV's and IV's and all that extra stuff. The only things i do is try make my team perfect with the right movesets and types. Also I dont allow any females in my party. Like say i want this pokemon and i spend ages looking for it and it turns out female i dont catch it. Not because im sexist. Because i done tests to find out which gender in stronger i got 2 of the same pokemon with the same nature and everything but opposite gendars. My results were that females start of stronger. As they grow females have better growth stats at first. But males eventually catch up and their growth stats improve and surpass the females and males end up being stronger. I done this test with about 7 pokemon and males won. Kind of like in real life. Girls grow faster than boys then eventually boys catch up and are taller than the girls at the end. Anyway thats about it really i dont try and get all the pokemon and stuff so out of 10 i would give myself 4 on how obsessive i am with this game.

I'm obsessed.. but I don't seem obsessed enough to EV train and stuff, I am more obsessed with catching them all..

I'd give 5/10 for myself. When building a team, I look at overall stats, but not EV's and IV's. I do, however, go through the type matchup with a magic marker, and when I plan my team, I check off the types that I'll have covered, right down to what attacks they'll have (For instance, on Crystal, I made sure my Quaggsire knew Ice Beam to cover the dragon type)

Well...I'm a big fan of Pokemon games, but I don't catch every single one of them and EV train them and all of that. It's too complicated, I just deal with the nature I got. If Its good, hooray. If its not, then its not.

When building a team, I choose Pokemon I like and are good in battling. For example, I don't use a Linoone in battling, I use it in contests. And I don't use a Gardevoir for contests, I use a Gardevoir for battling.

Yes, I teach movesets depending on Attack/Special Attack in general (not depending on nature) Example: I don't teach a Mawile Flamethrower

Ditto. I'm not as obsessed with EVs, but it doesn't mean i don't use them. I sure use them more now, but IVs I never give a crap about.

What you say about genders is incorrect. The only effects genders have are in breeding and Attract. The stat forumulas are exactly the same for males and females, and gender is extracted from Personality Values, along with nature. (no significant correlation exists between those two either)

I try to breed for natures, but I'll put up with a second-rate nature (such as my Rash Espeon) if I'm having a hard time getting the one I want. I don't fight for IVs, but I discover them. I work out effort splits (using netbattle) that economize stat gains/effort levels, taking advantage of rounding where possible. (I'll get HP divisible by 16 or plus one, and I like to have the stat for a raised nature just over the value where it skips up by two points)

Doing this stuff requires care, but it doesn't take all that much time. The only time-consuming, probabilistic thing I do is look for shinies. And I do other stuff while doing that, like raising members to L100.

I catch all of the pokemon on the dex... e.g. LG/FR I catch the Kanto dex. S/R/E I catch the Hoenn dex.
I'm obcest with what genders suit each pokemon. I'll catch a female luvdisc and a male Skarmory etc etc etc.
I also love competetive battles with my friends. I hate my friends Mewtwo... UBER user he is. But I win him with the team in my SIG!
I fully EV train MOST of the pokemon I like, exeption is my gyarados (mistake I know) But I've EV Trained Swampert, Skarmory, Starmie, Charizard, Steelix, and the list goes on...

But mainly its the battles on pokemon XD with my friends that makes me want to play more. I also love the coolness look of the Brendan on Emerald... Lets hope D/P look cool!

I'm 5.5/10 obsessed, because I dont really ev train my Pogeys. I just catch them/take them out from my pc, give them nicknames of people in my life and train 'em till they can battle trainers from the Sevii islands.
In my Ruby version however, I'm a dedicated berry farmer and currently have over 500 sitris berries that I didn't cheat to grow.
In conclusion, I'd still say 5.5/10

Well, you say you don't mess around with IVs, so then you wouldn't know if the IVs were different- and they probably were. The stats, as MetalMario explained, are not dependent on gender. Also, testing only seven Pokemon isn't a representative sample; you'd have to have a much bigger sample to draw a reasonable conclusion. Results invalid, but for several different reasons.

By this line of questioning I'm massively obsessive. I "breed to perfection" (or at least as close to perfect as I can get before I run out of patience trying to get flawless IVs in more than one stat). I EV train everything that ends up on my team. I have pages upon pages of notes for potential movesets- some for Pokemon I've never even used, but considered using. Between all of my games I am missing one Pokemon- Lunatone- to have all non-event obtainables. In Emerald, I run through the Battle Tower compulsively, but have had to set a limit on two full runs a day because I was getting pretty stressed out about it. By "full runs" I mean that I enter at level one and keep going until I lose, usually at around the sixth opponent of level five. >.>

If I had to classify myself I'd say that I'm an obsessive battler. I breed, raise, and train to be the best. Period.

I try to get all the pokemon, but without getting a gameshark or going somewhere far away to get a little upgrade to catch Deoxys etc. For some reason I want to get Rayquaza, Kyogre and Groudon to lvl 100 and use them in the Trainer Tower. I've completed the Kanto dex on LeafGreen with the help of my bro's FireRed, except Mew of course. I don't care at all about natures, IVs, EVs etc. I raise the pokemon I've got and just accept it. The only reason I see that they might matter is for evolving Tyrogue. But I do play practically every day and post in these forums, so I'd give myself 4.2/10 on an obsessiveness scale.

---what I'm getting
I am obsessed, as for I play the game every day and I try really hard to get the most complete pokedex. If the pokemon I'm trying to catch has an ability I don't prefer I catch a new one. The same thing goes for the nature. BUT I don't calculate IV's and don't do EV training.

I'm obsessed. Pokémon is the only game I take seriously anymore. Because you need to be serious if you want to suceed in the core gameplay. This includes the final Battle Facilities/Battle Events, such as Colosseum's Battle Mode and Battle Frontier.

I don't care about IVs. I just use that old person in Battle Frontier to have a rough idea. Having a Pokémon with "better-than-average abilities" is OK with me. Besides that, I breed for Natures (Easy in Emerald.), and even Hidden Power (I'm lucky with it... somehow. O_O). Then, I EV Train with my own spreads that I think fit the Pokémon the best. Since I'm rather careless about IVs, and knowing my Metagame, I really don't pay attention to stuff like HP divisible by 16, or having 1 Speed Point above something, and all that jazz. I do use somewhat advanced EV spreads that balance my Pokémon out. The basic ones are rather awkward and bad in the long run... not to mention they don't fit my style.

I'm rather obsessed in the Training regard. Still, I really care less about the "storyline" in the games, and my stigma of self-erasing files makes it so I enjoy having a permanent File for once. I also could care less about the Pokédex. I completed it in Emerald without much effort... =/ Not that I wanted to complete it anyway. Contests are cool, but need MUCH more emphasis to be more of another core realm and not just a measly side-quest...

So yes... I'm rather obsessed.

I'm rather obsessed, I play the games every day and I am always on the hunt for shiny pokemon. I would say that I am 5/10 obsessed because I don't bother with EVs or IVs etc.

Help me find myself
I'm not at all obsessed. When I got emerald, I didn't even play it the first day, and I didn't really get anywhere farther in the first month with it. I mean, they're fun to play, but I'm not obsessed at all. I'd say that I'm from .7-1.3 out of 10, because I don't even get to the third badge by two months. I used to be obsessed at about 4 out of 10, but then I met the computer...
