• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.
  • Hi all. We had a couple of reports of people's signatures getting edited etc. in a bad way. You can rest assured this wasn't done by staff and nobody has compromised any of our databases.

However, remember to keep your passwords secure. If you use similar passwords to elsewhere which has been accessed, people and even bots may be able to access your account.

We always recommend using unique passwords, and two-factor authentication if you are able. Make sure you're as secure as possible

How would you survive a Zombie apocalypse?

LOL I'd sacrifice as many non friends and family as I needed to survive. It's pretty arrogant to think we could survive a Zombie apocalypse But I'd do whatever was necessary... Call me Tallahassee!

I'd still stick to my strategy using plants to fight off the zombies trying to enter my house :D

I spend an indecent amount of time thinking about this very question XD Bring on the Zombie apocalypse I say! I'll be at my local hardware store barricading the doors... It has everything: makeshift weapons, materials to make traps and fortifications, a plant nursery to grow food, water tanks to collect rain water and all manner of industrial vehicles... As long as there aren't any of those jumpy/climby zombies a la half life 2, I'm golden!

Now, what happens if one of the Clerks turns into a zombie, inside the store?

I would probably use my favorite ideas from various Zombie themed entertainment. For instance in the movie I am Legend, the main character literally turned his house into a fortress. He always took roundabout ways to get back home in case he was being followed. He kept himself in shape. He also scavenged the city systematically. Instead of randomally going through peoples houses. He had a list of which places he's already scavenged so he doesn't waste time.

In 28 Days Later, there were several good ideas. Using a convenience store as a temporary shelter was one. It had metal shutters for protection, and food to eat. Then they left when it was safe to do so. A military installation for shelter is also a nice touch because its already fortified and most likely has weapons to defend yourself. Though I wouldn't advise keeping a zombie as a pet inside the compund.

In The Walking Dead, they've used a bow and arrow method of attack to keep from attracting more zombies by the sound of gunfire. They've covered themselves in entrails and dead flesh to keep from being identified by smell. They've also used methods like keeping the fire low to keep from attracting zombies.

In Zombieland, they made a specific set of rules to help you survived. It also showed what happens when you don't follow the rules.

Personally, if the Zombie Apocalypse did happen, I think there would be a great chance of human survival. This is of course after the initial wave of panic where the dumb ones die first. I think Hollywood has done too much to prepare humanity for the zombie apocalypse. if we lost to the zombies, its hollywoods fault.

Of course a vast army of the Undead are searching for large quantities of brain tissue, they would not stray to close to me, because I do not have large quantities of the grey matter! *snort snort*

You just got yourself killed man. While you're up there. You are indeed completely safe, from the zombies. You are not safe from starvation and dehydration however.

So now you're hungry and thirsty in your tree house with an army of undead at the bottom of your tree, moaning and hungry, waiting for you to come down.

I'm thinking the only feasible way would be to shack up somewhere like a mall or retail store with LOTS of supplies(although there would be MANY non-infected people rushing these places) and wait it out until you run out of supplies.

Then you would need a garage and vehicle to take off in or some sort of back door or tunnel exit to move on to your next place.

100 pounds of salted deermeat would be up there with me, Also it rains a lot so I got my water.

Sail out to the South Pacific with a few months' worth of food and supplies.

Find an Island somewhere without a lot of people (if any at all), settle there, and learn to live off of bananas and local fish.

As long as the zombies can't withstand ridiculous amounts of saltwater, I may be fine.

Raid the stores and stuff, and make my house into a FORTRESS. Impenetrable walls, tons of locks, and a balcony with a machine gun turret on it. I would go back and raid the stores some more when I needed food and ammo, assuming that power is still online, and unless zombies eat power lines now, it should be. Every night I would arm landmines outside my house, so if the zombies came to my house, they wouldn't be zombies by the time they left.
