HP points are still only as good as the defense stats that hold onto them.
Granted if there was such an HP boosting move, it would have to be accessible to the vast majority of pokemon so as not to severely unbalance the metagame.
I just used double as an example because thats what the Bubble spell does. If there was such a move in pokemon I would expect it to operate the same way any other stat boosting move does... one use brings it to 1.5x, second to x2, x2.5, x3, and so on. (that is the way it works right? X.X)
A "sharply raising" HP boost move would be rather broken (an HP boosting version of Swords Dance or Amnesia)... I'd say that'd be a bad idea.
Perhaps such a move could have a chance to fail?
Also, using the move would not heal you in anyway. If you hhave a pokemon with 100 HP and you use the move 6 times and bring it up to 600... you'd still have 100 HP if for some odd reason you didn't get hit. However, using a move like Recover to follow it up would work wonders.
But it could do wonders for the playability of the metagame. OHKOs would be a thing of the past and one on one battles would actually last more than 1 turn. O.O instead of being what would be considered in any other game as a whole lot of sudden-death battles.
There are a bunch of ways you could nerf a move like this... as i said, discuss
if there will be an hp raising move it wouldn't raise it by 1.5 each time, it would have to be more like 1.1 at the most or else we'll end up with a blissey with over 1000 health in three turns

It could make it only raise up like 2 stats a usage.
And I think if this was used, there will be a thing called: HP Cause (Or whatever it's call) to stop people using this and making that stupid Blissey unstopable!

An even better idea would be to make it a temporary effect that wears off after a certain number of turns (as it also is in most other RPGS. More like a beneficial status effect than an actual stat boost)
i think that its an asome idea, imagine, a blissey and a shuckkle, blissey uses follow me and softoboals all thye time, while shuckle finally gets its well deserved hp boost! that would almost make shukle uber

Nah, I'm thinking it would be better if it was an HP version of reflect/light screen. Doubles your HP for 4 or 5 turns, after which it goes back to normal automatically.
There are other ways to nerf the move to keep it from being overpowered if it was a stat boosting move like Swords Dance or Amnesia. It could always go second, or perhaps it could operate like curse and cause a pokemon's speed to drop (which would make sense since addition HP logically makes the pokemon more bulky)
u no if they would fit hp boosts in the games, they would have to make a load of extra things, like X HP, and moves that actually lower your hp. it seems cool though

HP is probably a stat that, if it were raised, would just make the battles too difficult. Even pokemon with average HP and average defenses could become impenetrable. If there were a pokemon with a max 250 HP...which is very low...and then they used a move that doubled that, you would already have 500 HP right there, and that is just rediculous. Even if it were a 1.5 boost...you would still end up with 375 which is in the high upper percent of what would be considered average.
Now an HP boosting nature is a better idea and wouldn't be so extreme.
