It's too obvious that Kurapica cannot kill off Ryodan. Honestly I think the battle between Kurapica and Ubogin is flawed. [SPOIL]No way could Kurapica survive that direct hit with only an arm broken, since Ubogin has by far stronger nen.[/SPOIL] The fights of Ryodan members against the ants make things even more obvious...
While I think the manga should end soon, there are way too many things to wrap up in just one arc. I'd much prefer a longer story with better ending over a shorter story with rushed ending.
You have to remember one thing though. [SPOIL]In the battle of nen nothing is certain. As well as the amount of restriction's you put on your nen ability determines it's over all power. [/SPOIL]
Next lets review kurapica's abilities:
[SPOIL]Kurapika materializes chains on his hand, with the chain tips hidden up his forearm and the ends attached to each of his fingers. He makes his ability look like manipulation because he keeps the chains materialized all the time, therefore making people think they are actually real chains.
Chains Kurapika currently uses:
Index finger: unknown
Togashi hasn't revealed the function of the fifth chain yet.
Thumb: Holy Chain (form: a cross)
It heals wounds and serious injuries, when Kurapika uses it in normal state, it has only 60 % effectiveness because it uses Reinforcement powers (Kurapika is naturally materialization).
Middle finger: Chain Jail (form: a hook)
It captures an opponent and put him/her into Zetsu state (cut off aura flow, makes it impossible to use nen). This chain is nearly unbreakable because of the condition set by Kurapika:
* He can only use this chain against Members of the Genei Ryodan,
* if he tries to use this weapon against an opponent who isn`t a Ryodan member, he'll die instantly.
Ring finger: Dowsing Chain (form: a sphere/ball)
A chain used to find people or objects. It can be used by focus on a persons nen or anything about the person or object who is searched. Kurapika also uses this chain to block bullets or disarm his opponents, supposedly by making the dowsing chain find the bullets while in midair and trapping them in the links of the chain.
Little finger: Judgment Chain (form: a little sword/dagger)
Kurapika uses this chain to stab it in an opponents body and then a nen sword/dagger points at his/her heart. Kurapika set a rule (a maximum of 2 rules) the person pierced with the chain must follow. If the person breaks one of the set rules, he/she'll die instantly after breaking the rule. Kurapika has also pointed a judgment chain to his own heart to obey that he would only use chain jail against Ryodan members and this one only for self-defense.
The judgment chain is NOT only to be used on Ryodan members, Kurapika is also allowed to use it for defending himself. (He can't attack someone with the judgment chain unless this person is attacking him).
This chain requires Specialization powers, so that Kurapika can't use it when he´s not in scarlet eyes state. Kurapika has trained himself to be able to go into this state whenever he needs to, not only when he's angry.
The Scarlet eyes state:
Kurapika´s origin as a member of the Kuruta tribe allows him to gain specialization powers. When a Kuruta has strong emotions (anger, fear etc.) his eyes turn scarlet and Kurapika´s strength increases. When he has his red eyes he's able to use all nen groups as 100%, which means that he's a specialization user (he can something no other person can) The status he gained through his Kuruta genes, the special power to use
all groups at 100%, is called "Emperor Time".
The scarlet eyes allow Kurapika to simulate the effectiveness and strength of a natural user of any type of nen. However, he remains a materialization user in that he cannot gain certain levels of ability. For example, if he gains level 10 materialization (his natural nen type) he can only gain level 4 emission (naturally 40%). Normally, he would also only be 40% accurate and be unable to use emission power as well as an emission user, but with his scarlet eyes he can simulate a natural emission user and equal them in force and accuracy.
However, it remains that at level 10, Kurapika only equals a level 4 emission user (this 40% ratio remains, ie if he is at level 20 materialization, he will be level 8 emission). The scarlet eyes don't allow him to gain levels, only increase his force and accuracy.[/SPOIL]
[SPOIL]As you can see he put many restrictions on his abilities so he would be able to compete with such powerful foes. Also Kurapica put Uvogin in a Zetsu state so he would be easier to kill. During the entire fight he had the Emperor Time state activated. Giving him more nen accurracy then he normal had. [/SPOIL]
