Hyper Beam = Now advantaged for some, but no longer for others...

Hello,
I just wanted to let you know/get your opinion on the recently announced change of Hyper Beam becoming special instead of Attack, along with many other moves.
Hyper Beam, as the huge damage inflicter for many of our physical sweepers has now been changed to special, therefore strong attack based pokemon that learn it by levelling up, will now have the consequence of this move being weaker than before.

I also think that some special attk sweepers like Alazakam, will now have Hyper Beam as a common move, because of the unbeleivably high sp.attk, hyper beam will be one hell of a destruction, and more than it is now, becuase there are more pokemon with a higher sp.attk, than there are attackers. Example, more pokemon have a special attack status exceeding 400, than attackers, where there are very few 400 exceeders. (By 400 I mean Max Stats)

So whats your opinion?

Hmm.that crossed my mind last night. A lot of people are going to be removing that from their arsenal; while others are going to be adding it in. I know its a common move amongst pokemon, since it was a TM and all, so that'll be weird. Also, with the TM thing, since we can trade from R/S/FR/LG to this new one; what if you put a TM on it? Would it become whatever TM has that number? Just thought Id toss that in since its somewhat relative.

Yeah, I agree. Pokemon like Snorlax and Ursarig that would learn this by leveling up won't be useful anymore. (The two turns it uses could vastly be overcompensated by instead using 2 BodySlams, or something of the sort which would be a strong physical normal attack...)

Hyper Beam was only useful on Slaking because he'll miss the next turn anyway >.>

Two Returns > One Hyper Beam

This is the most ****ed thing Gamefreak has ever done! This ruins 90% of my Pokemon that I was going to use in D/P too, but now only is useable in RSEFRLG. Hyper beam, I don't give a damn. But elementalpunches? Spark? Much of the other changed stuff? DAMN I hate Gamefreak now. Do they ENJOY ruining stuff?

pokemon such as Blissey can make use of it!

Blissey has a terrible attack, and a terrible special attack, but also A terrible defense. I have one lv.100
Or do you mean hyper beam will be less damage inflicting AGAINST it because of its high sp.defense?

Well changeing the attack types of varrious attacks will just add new stratagie to the game. It will be nice with physical thunder, fire and ice attacks for Gyrados and other dragon powemon, who have allways been able to learn them but have horrible special attack.
But still Hyperbean will be missed among my dragon party.
;130; a moment of silence for my dear friend Gyrados. He has smited many a foe with his hyper beam.

Or maybe they expect you to raise a D/P team ON D/P, rather than leeching of your older games? If you're too lazy to play the D/P as they are designed to be then thats your problem, adapt or don't buy them.

You guys do realize that hyper beam was never usable competitively, right?

The only pokemon screwed over by this is Slaking, as he's the only pokemon that could make use of hyper beam.

It's not a big deal. So what, who cares if competitive battling is changing? EVERY generation has brought changes (like how the second generation screwed over psychic types, and the third generation brought in a huge batch of OU pokemon).

You do know that Snorlax made use of this move too. Along with a few others.

Do they enjoy ruining stuff or do they enjoy making stuff better? I say the latter of the two ;)

They may make a new physical Hyper Beam type move to give all those Pokemon. Since the elemental Hyper Beams were invented in the 3rd gen, and they're special, I doubt that they'd let all the Hyper Beam type attacks be special. They'll make a new one that's physical.

But Snorlax can make a lot better use of return. Over 100 base power, and it can be used twice in a row.

Slaking seriously loses out, though, because it can only attack every other turn. This is why it was able to pull off hyper beam, it had absolutely nothing to lose (but everything to gain).

As far as I know this is one of the few game series that still remains compatible from one system to another one, be happy you can get all of your old pokémon in D/P by trading in the first place, I'd say.

Exactly. As long as you can do that there really isn't any reason to complain.
