I can't see the dub cause I live in America and even if I could I can't understand Japanese. Plus the cards are just scary, dark, and boring. They scare my little brother. The show's about dueling. Sure, they may add a great deal of advertising for the cards, but that's the main focus, buddy. It's a pretty complex and deep storyline if you get into it, but if you don't like it, then just don't worry about it.

If you live in America, you CAN see the dub. I doubt hardly anyone on the whole forums that watches Yugioh understands Japanese.

That's just your opinion. The cards aren't all scary, and they're creative IMO.

If you can get into the card game, Yugioh is an excellent series. And the story before it focused on all kinds of games. The Egyptian Mythology combined with technology makes the show interesting to most who watch it, I'd guess. If you were to watch from episode 1, maybe you could get it (if you don't mind 4Kids' edits... you could always watch subtitled Japanese episodes, though, I suppose). Otherwise, just forget about the show.

That's because of the whole 'Heart of the Cards' idea, and how Yugi's a great duelist and he has a Pharaoh locked inside him and all that. It is a story, afterall. Things like that happen in other shows, too.

You think you're the only one? You don't realize how many people out there feel the same way you do for the wrong reasons. I have no opinion because I don't watch the show at all, but have you stopped to watch it from the beginning? People tend to get attached to the characters over time and end up liking the anime for what it is, even if the plot is stupid.

If you've only watched a select few episodes from Yu-Gi-Oh, then consider someone watching a couple from Pokemon. I can almost guarantee that they will think it's stupid because they have not grown to like it like you have.

Your little brother will get use to the card's art you probaly force him into looking at them next time give him a heads up on what he's looking at then he'll be less frighten in the future.

Just go with the flow the cards in the ygo tcg has evolved more and goten much more popular than pokemon tcg.

An opinion made from watching only the first few episodes is not worth anything. There are plenty of anime that start off slow and end up becoming great. For example, I didn't think much of Bleach when I began watching it, but I started to love it as I saw more.

It doesn't seem like you even WANT to like Yu-Gi-Oh. If that's your attitude towards it, forget about trying to understand why others find it so good.

Also, sorry if I come off as harsh. I have nothing against you; I just don't know how to word all this nicely.

Actually Yu-Gi-Oh isn't violent. Some deaths here and there doesn't make it violent. But the Memory Arc is more violent then the whole series itself. GX (the other series) isn't as violent.

Yes, the god draws are annoying as hell, but Yu-Gi-Oh, like all cartoons HAS its setbacks.

They obviously know the value of the Puzzle. Also, like it was said before, the original Yu-Gi-Oh! had other types of games and not just duels, especially the manga.

I don't see why people would actually switch from Pokemon to Yu-Gi-Oh!. Pokemon isn't 100% childish, it's just a kid show.

Also, about the heart of the cards, sometimes that might get a little corny, but other times it isn't. Plus, sometimes, you have to duel in order to get a certain prize. For example, Yami Marik could only become the Pharaoh and take over the world, basically, if he could beat the current Pharoah in a duel.

Yu-Gi-Oh is popular with the little kids because of the fact of how easy it is to market.

Yu-Gi-Oh is popular with anime fans because if you read the manga or watch the sub version then its got a really good story.

Perhaps its just too over your head...I mean for the most part Pokemon is a rather simplistic show as it was originally intended for children whereas Yu-Gi-Oh was aimed at Teens when it was originally wrote. Thus its aimed at people who will put mroe thought into what they're reading/watching. I'm not saying you're stupid or anything but unless you put the effort into Yu-Gi-Oh then unless your a 5 year old you won't get anything out of it. It works on two levels and you appear to be trying to watch it on the same level as the children its aimed at when you'd possibly enjoy it more if you put some effort into it.

Well thats because its the tale of the Puzzle, Yugi and the spirit within it. Thus the story revolves around him...in all honesty Pokemon is the same...the story is always either to do with Ash, one of his friends or one of his enemies. Yu-Gi-Oh is the same...its either about him or his friends or his enemies. Thats how stories work...they have a cast and thus it follows them not some average Joe who has nothing to do with the plot what so ever.

Thats what fansubs are for you can get them easily if you look for them plus the manga is easier to get stateside than most other places (I live in the UK and can't find The 3rd volume of the duelist kingdom arc >_<)

Yes but in honesty the varity in creature designs far exceeds that of Pokemon...plus if your little brother is scared of the monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh then its just because he's small not because they're scary...now if you want something to really scare someone i recomend excel saga (*shuders*the puchus, the puchus)

Thats because they aren't true anime fans...they're switching over because they are following the fads...the fact you haven't is good as it means your not just following peer presure.

I agree. I watched the show for the first two seasons and then stopped. The show got cliché'd with that whole "OMG, I gotta draw a specific card to win." *Draws Card* "Yes!" *saves the world* >_>; - wow, some plot.

I like Yu-Gi-Oh GX better but I haven't even been able to watch that since I don't get home until 4:30 PM.

I'm also never home or my parents are watching the TV during the weekend.

Seriously... I used to know someone who was only allowed to have certain Yu-Gi-Oh cards, because he had to ask his mom which ones were, "too scary"... I hate the show, especially when really buff or strong people say, "Grrr! I'm so mad! Let's battle with cards when I could kick your butt in a real fight!"

I grown out of YGO, heck, you can't call me a "fan", it's so long it's seriously starting to annoy me, but your rant bother's me o.- If you're little brother is scared, than that his problem, after all, the game is originally meant for people alot older. LOL.
And the fact that people turned to YGO is their decision, Takahashi dersearves the popularity if so many people turned to it on their own and it doesn't have to do with what's "cooler".
