"I HATE MICKEY MOUSE!"- Tokyo governor denouce Mickey Mouse!

ANN said:
Mickey Mouse denounced at Tokyo anime fair
TOKYO, April 2 (UPI) -- Tokyo's governor has condemned Mickey Mouse as inferior to Japanese anime, the highly detailed cartoons that feature busty girls with big blue eyes.

Shintaro Ishihara made the remark while opening the Tokyo International Anime Fair on Saturday, which saw tens of thousands of fans strolling aisles packed with anime books, art, posters and a myriad of other souvenirs.

"I hate Mickey Mouse," Ishihara said. "He has nothing like the unique sensibility that Japan has. The Japanese are inherently skilled at visual expression and detailed work."

Yep, that ignorant racist Ishihara (also famous for pissing off the french and their counting) has took the piss on Mickey mouse and thinks it's crap.

Before you say anything, I put this here since it has somewhat realtion to anime. but mods, if it really isn't the place then you can move it to its right place or whatever.

Actually, he's right and I for one agree with him. The idea of Mickey Mouse is pathetic and simplistic compared to some of the things that the Japanese has churned out over the years. I see no beauty in Mickey Mouse or anything Disney produces. Anime however, has touched me in various stages of my life and has made me realise several life lessons and concepts.

America generally sucks at making kid's cartoons and that's why a lot of the more popular and marketable series showing on American television channels are things like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh and the rest.

Are you forgetting that it was Mickey Mouse that inspired Osamu Tezuka (God of Manga and Anime) to create his work?

I may not be most found of Mickey Mouse, but I hate his ignorances to realize its roots to his precisous anime were from that fucking mouse to begin with.

No, I don't forget that... I'm constantly reminded of the fact everytime I think of how great anime can be.

But anime has far overtaken the limited range that American children's cartoons try to aim for and so the original does not matter.

In a boarder sense, while Disney may have helped create manga and anime; which has since then grown by leaps and bounds, Disney's own cartoons have made very little in the way of change in the decades since.

Maybe he was playing Kindom Hearts Two and Mickey didn't show up when he died. Lol.

Seriously, Mickey Mouse was like made in the 1930's! Of course he won't be that detailed, but he was a extension of Disney himself! I don't like Mickey, but denouncing hating him because he was American Made is mean.

Are you sure this isn't a late April Fools Joke?

Hope the dude realizes Mickey Mouse was created in the early 1900's, where they had inferior technology back then and absolutely no plots in cartoons. D:

Meh... but Disney is starting to suck now...

Still, what a racist son-of-a-*****. I wish people would stop trying to act so superior to each other.

No, I'm definitely not a fan of Mickey Mouse. In fact I consider the black mouse ears I see everywhere to be the new Swastika of our time as Disney falls deeper and deeper into corruption but blinds people time after time that into believing that everything this corrupt company produces is perfectly fine and perfectly good. But I won't get into that...

Hate to say it, but Ishihara is correct. I honestly don’t even know that much about anime, but from my standpoint, it far excels in detail, fluidity of animation, and passion of storyline as opposed to the normal Family Guy and The Simpsons stuff that you seen in America. Let’s face it, American cartoons are created only for humor nowadays, American animation is never made to tell a storyline like anime does.

Though I hate, despise Disney for all of the crap it has produced (not saying that all of its beautiful animation movies were crap, I just hate most of the stuff they make NOW), I'd have to say that he's just one, ignortant, nationalist man. I mean, for the love of Christ, he probably didn't even see most of American animation (or any other animation in general), other than anime, if he's saying its all crap, because a there is a lot of animation that isn't anime that's really well done (such as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars; and there is a lot of good and well made Disney movies, such as The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and many, many other Disney movies). A matter of fact, if you look at it on a world scale, all animation is the same, as its the basic idea of an animated set of pictures with sound. There is just different styles of animation, and the Japanese have a unique style, a style that has influenced other, non-Japanese animators to use in their artwork.

The only cartoon that comes to mind is "Avatar: The Last Airbender".

Beautiful and intriguing stuff that doesn't get off of Japanese culture, but rather, Chinese culture (which is more interesting to me, personally).

Perhaps if America had more cartoons like that, then there wouldn't be such a feud over who produces the best cartoons.

Then again, America isn't as interested in cartoons as Japan is. People here think cartoons are only for children, and all of that stereotypical BS.

Yeah, I can see that. They could make a cartoon that litterally features anything, but they tend to believe it's only a thing a kid would enjoy. this probably due to earlier cartoons aimmed directly for children with plotless series and basically just being random.

My friend at work gave me an animated movie someone made a long time ago int he US that the direct actually got tired of such cartoons and actually made his own movie up (I was told he wanted to show his children a cartoon that had a plot), I believe the name was "Wizards", which had various aspects from WWII. The movie was actually pretty good, though they ran out of budget and started using these um, blackened characters running around for various scenes...

They do take it a bit further now with Cartoons feature more Adult oriented hummer (though still stupid funny) more currently in America...

About Mickey Mouse, I personally have no issue agenist him. I generally Prefer Goofy or Donald though when it came to Disney characters =P.

Yes. Oh yes they do. x_x;

And on the actual topic, my view is about the same as TSC's. I may not like Mickey or most American cartoons, but even I know better to pick at the character that helped bring about what I like. But whatever, life goes on.

Why do I get the feeling ANN is making up crap again?

I highly doubt they'd bring up Mickey Mouse for absolutely no reason, especially when anime was inspired through the work of Disney. Let us not forget the rather large gap between when Steamboat Willie was produced in the US and when anime started coming around in Japan.

Can't forget that animation was VERY different back in the old days and how even anime wasn't always as detailed as it is now.

I smell BS from ANN's part. ;\

Ya, but looking at some of the past comments Ishihara has made, this seriously wouldn't surprise me to be true.

It was posted today on ANN. So no it couldn't be April fool's. Why post something after April Fool's anyway? There even another site where they got it from. Besides, this man is infamous for racist or outspoken remarks.

Oh and before you go on saying he right that Mickey is horrible and crap. It wasn't the fact he brings it up to say anime is better than US animation, but more so that Japan is better than US. He also stated that the Nanking Rape never happen and believe the French's number sytem is inferior to theirs, etc.

That ******* doesn't know jack **** about American cartoons. Most of the cartoons Disney makes today are crap because the original Disney and co. aren't around to put their creativity and funny stuff into these, cuzz they are all dead. I love watching old Mickey Mouse & co. and Bugs Bunny & co. cartoons - they were all funny.

I mean some of these old cartoons are banned because of certain stuff such as Race, Cuss Words, etc. Like you never see a cartoon character calling another one a "Jackass" because of whoever does the Censoring Crap (FCC I think?)

You buttheads. You probably loved Mickey Mouse when you were little, and Bugs Bunny, and other American cartoons. Don't go bagging on American cartoons. Do I go bagging on your precious Anime?, no. If you are so in love with Japan and think America is "inferior" in anything, then take your happy *** there and shutup. I'm sure the Japanese would love to see your faces there. ;/

But yeah, I agree with Edward Elric.
